I had a Bible that I loved. I used it until the cover fell off. I tried to replace it with another translation but it never felt right. After too many years I finally just told my husband that I needed to replace the one I loved. It came in the mail today and I can’t wait to wear it out the way I wore out the first one!

I found a Bible at a thrift store locally. It was a wide margined NASB and picked it up for $10.....there was a name inside, i found the person online and he is local so we struck up a friendship. He is a Pastor and has a lot of hand written notes in there, It has helped me in my study immensely

@@livjames3092 my only issue with the so called modern translations such as the ESV.. the CSB... the LSB... and some of the others ...is that the KJV translation was Not just modernized and re-written in an easier to understand format.. but that the translators took too many liberties in re writing verses to read as THEY supposed the intended original language was trying to say... and I am Not saying.. that the KJV translators did a Lot better job.. but what I have seen is that the KJV translators erred more on the side of caution than the modern translators do.... comparing them... ..I have a greater awareness of God ...reading the KJV than any other translation....

Such a bad message, if you don’t have the right Bible, what makes you think you have the right God and Savior? The Catholics use the wrong translation is that why they have the wrong gospel… think about that.

@@wendymtzc the Catholics err on many things... but Not necessarily because they have the wrong bible... for instance I have a copy of the Douay Rheims bible .. which is a bible recommended for Catholics.. because it contains the apocryphal books as well as the 66 canonized books.. and it is in the KJV... it is a very good bible.. where the Catholics err.. is Not in their Bible.. it is.. in their.. I was brought up in the Catholic church and attended Catholic school.. and NOT ONCE was me or my family ever encouraged to read the bible for ourselves... the Catholic system of doing things.. is to tell one what to believe.. what to read.. and how to interpret what they read.. an example of this are the Missalettes.. that are in every pew at church.. every week to follow along with what is being taught ... why doesn't the Priest just open up the bible.. and while he is doing that ask everyone else to open up theirs to read along..?.. bec... read ...and how you think..this is what the missaletees do... . that is the error of the Catholic faith...

The first Bible I ever had was a very old, falling apart, compact Bible that came from a rubbish dump. It had pages missing here and there, but I was born again from reading that Bible....so yes, it's true, you don't need a fancy, high-end Bible in order to be saved!!! ❤️👍

@@authorityfigure1630 I had an intimately personal encounter with God and His love and power. That encounter was literally life changing. I KNEW I would never be the same again. I went from being suicidally depressed to not being able to wipe the smile off my face. I went from dreading each new day to being excited about what each new day could bring. I woke up each morning and thought, 'wow! I actually KNOW Someone who lived and died 2,000 years ago!' My world turned right-side up. I began to see the world as really being made up of two different groups -- those who KNOW God is REAL and those who DON'T. I KNEW something inside of me had changed and I could NEVER be the SAME again. There is no other way I can think to describe my born-again experience, but it was and will always be the BEST thing that ever happened in my life. I literally MET the LIVING GOD! I hope that answers your question? God bless you.

@@1974AMDG it is amazing and beautiful to hear how the Holy Spirit impacted you through the Holy Scriptures. I am so happy you have come to know Jesus. I however want to make sure you have been truly been Born Again. In John chapter 3 Jesus tells Nicodemus one must be born again to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and tells Nicodemus this is being born of water and spirit. In the next scene in the gospel we see Jesus and his disciples baptizing people, this is the author telling us what Jesus was talking about. Jesus is saying Baptism is what makes a person Born again. I hope you have been Baptized and if not then make sure you do and make sure you join the only Church established by Christ himself, the Holy Catholic Church. Peace be with you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
@1974AMDG
@1974AMDG Ай бұрын
@@authorityfigure1630 I have been baptized several times throughout my 50 years of being a Christian. I was raised and baptized a Catholic as a baby. Also, after being born again I was baptized by full immersion. That is the baptism I really count as authentic, because it was a choice I made personally, because I really truly desired to follow Jesus in baptism. I have over the years been rebaptized, but only because I changed denominations. I see those baptisms as being baptized into a denomination, more than being baptized into Christ. So my first baptism by immersion is the one that counts to me because I truly had given my life to Jesus at that time. In the passage you quoted from John's Gospel about Jesus' discussion with Nicodemus, when Jesus said you must be born by water and the Spirit, He is referring to our first physical birth which occurs when our mother's 'waters' break and we emerge into this world Then when we come to believe and trust in Jesus, we are born a 'second time' through the Holy Spirit It is a spiritual birth. i don't believe this passage speaks of water baptism as being necessary for salvation. Justification takes place at the point of FAITH. At the point of faith, a person is said to be saved. (Acts16:31), given eternal life (John 3:16), made a child of God (Gal.3:26+John 1:12), transferred from death to life (John 5:24), justified (Rom.3:28 + Rom 5:1), given the righteousness of Christ (Rom.4:35 + Phil 3:9), forgiven (Acts 10:43 + Luke 7:48-50). In Mark 16:15-16 it is belief, not baptism that is the critical issue. It says that those who do not believe will be condemned. It does not say those who do not believe and are not baptized will be condemned. Baptism is just an outward sign of an inward change, but salvation does not depend on it.

Girl, girl, girl!!!! I am so glad you said IT, thank you. I have been saying it for years. I got my first Bible when I was 13 and it is so raggedy, and my second Bible is almost as done as the first. One time I purchased a Bible that was $98 on sale, I needed the large print,(glasses). But there is no more room to take any notes in it, and the fancy bible journaling and tip-ins wasn't in at that time. Well I said all of that to say this, I am now 65yrs young going on 45(smile) and I buy two new Bibles every year, one for reading and listening and meditation and the other a good study Bible to mark up like crazy. Over the years the notes and teaching always change depending on where I am in life and how I have matured in Gods Word over time. The Bible translations Did Not Matter.(not yelling, just excited) The Bible is about learning who God is and who we are in Him, and needing a saviour Jesus Christ, and learning to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as he is the teacher and comforter who leads us into all truths. I will never pay over $50 for any Bible or study resource unless I need it or just have to have it. Sorry I am long with this, but girl I wish we could talk. I watch you all the time, I've watch most of all you old videos, and I love them and you, you bring it. You are a keep it real girl whose head is not in a cloud and your feet are firmly planted on the ground. I like that you can go deep and bring it back to the surface without losing any one. You keep it up, you are doing an excellent job. Oh, I also love it when you crack me up you are so funny and fun. Give your hubby a big thank you for being a great spiritual man of God over his wife and family, because without it girl the silly in some of us can get out of control (real). Thank you again for the good clean real fun in the Word of God. Blessings

I completely understand where she is coming from and she makes valid points. The most important thing is to pick up and read your Bible. However, there is nothing wrong with liking premium or higher cost bibles or the features they offer. It’s also ok and normal to want good binding/covers and not want your Bible to fall apart. Some of us want to keep our bibles for many years and would like it to stay intact. When I learned about premium bibles it opened my eyes up to new features that I felt would make reading and studying more enjoyable. For example, I really liked Schuyler’s layout and font. It looked like it would be easy to read and was just very pleasant. I wouldn’t have to struggle to read the text. I made a list of all the things I wanted in a Bible and I was sure I would have to save up to buy a premium bible. I prayed and God showed me Thomas Nelson’s sovereign line that had everything I wanted for

I agree. I will someday pass my Bibles down to my girls. I have the Bible given to my parents on their wedding day. There is a note from my grandfather dedicating it & my moms entry’s of weddings & births & deaths. I do wish there were more notes in the scriptures tho. I wish I knew what they thought as they read the word. My Bibles have lots of notes. When I’m no longer alive my girls will have that. (We also share it now 😊)

I totally agree with you. I was thankful for a NIV "Rainbow Study bible" gifted to me. However the synthetic leather cover started flaking and disintegrating 3 years later and even left marks and colour-transferred onto my table top. I'd love to go back to reading NIV and even refer to the notes I've made in it - those are what I cherish - but I do put off picking it up cus of the flakey mess. I think the specs matter for personal preferences right down to paper thickness if you make notes and highlight, and font sizes matter.
@ginamiller6754
@ginamiller6754 2 жыл бұрын
@@weitskoh6927 yes. I get her point to not idolize a book, but if someone uses it & prefers that it doesn’t fall completely apart, that’s different. If someone buys a premium Bible & puts it on a shelf, doesn’t read it & is afraid to mark in it, that’s a problem. If someone buys a Bible that’s got thicker paper, larger font & can withstand lots & lots of use & possibly be passed down to children, I don’t see a problem with it. Bible publishers are making Bibles better now. Of course there still are Bibles that are pasted together, but even less expensive Bibles are Smyth sewn now.

@@weitskoh6927 also if you want to keep that Bible with your notes, there are many company’s that will rebind your Bible. They will also sew together any part that has come apart. I’ve seen some before & after pics & they do a fantastic job.

Any Bible is great when you are younger & your eyes are still….young. I’m in my late 50’s & some of the “nicer” Bibles have better paper & bigger print. I spend more time in it because I can see the words better, I’m not fighting ghosting or tiny print. I do however write all over my Bible. I have no problem writing in it & putting tabs in it if I want. Post it’s everywhere. It’s my connection to God. I use it like a workbook to learn.

This is a fantastic video!! Loved all the points you made. We should be asking ourselves "What is my motive for buying THIS Bible? Is it to look good or is it to grower closer to God?" I remember when I was a kid and I asked someone why our church used the Bible translation we used. And they said because it was the most accurate (or something along those lines). So I was scared to try different translations. Then we attended a different church and they were using NIV so I started reading that translation. But, thanks to you, I am using the ESV translation and I am very happy with it. I still have my older Bibles too that I can use as well

Girl. 😃I have watched a lot of your videos and I don't think I have ever commented on any of them before, but when you said not to just collect the Bibles but to use them, and you're talking about the money people spend, that deserved a big ole' AMEN! I just couldn't not say that. I'm not someone who wants to do all the crafty stuff in my Bible and, honestly, I don't get all the coloring and stuff that people do, which is very pretty to look at, for sure. I'm glad it adds some zest to your time in the word. It would all just get in my way visually and spatially since I like to write and I like to write a lot, so that's where I put my energy. But because I do, I'm always trying to be on the watch for a Bible that will give me writing space (ain't nobody got the money for buy and try, thank you). I too want just ONE main Bible, which is what I am now working toward. My KJV and NKJV are just blasts from the past at this point in my life. I'm glad we're doing better these days. My NIV study Bible is too big because I want to be able to carry it with me. My NLT is not a preferred translation for regular use, so while it has decent margins, I don't see myself writing in it. My Amplified is one of my faves and gets lots of use, but I realized that it's better for study as I want to be able to just go with the rhythm of the words sometimes, so my ESV is my new main for the moment until I can find a journaling one. I think an ESV/AMP parallel with margin space would be the Holy Grail! 💃💃 😄 But I won't invest in anything new until next year because I want to know I have read all of my Bibles in their entirety before I get a new one. I'll then transfer my most important notes to whichever new one I land on for NEXT year, which is 2024 at this point. At the moment, I am making an ongoing list of what I do and don't want and just watching and patiently waiting. (I'll talk to God about it too pretty soon. 😉) Anyway, thanks for a video that focuses on the function of the Bible you're reviewing and not just how pretty the cover and/or pictures are. It's hard to get to see the insides of some of these on Amazon or other sites.

Love this!! I just bought a new Bible after using my college study bible for probably 15 years! I still use my old study Bible almost every day but felt like I needed a new one to start fresh in a new season in my life. I felt so guilty buying a new one just because it's like, "Do I really need a new Bible?" But I did get it on sale for $22, so I thought why not. It's VERY easy to look at Bible reviews and Bible journaling videos and get into the thinking that "oh, I need to have the exact same Bible she has, and I need to make my Bible look beautiful with notes!" But I have to correct that thinking real quick because it's just another way to get distracted from God.

I got one of these and it's beautiful; so beautiful that I can't bring myself to write anything in it but my name.) and it's down-to-Earth advice. Whew! Just in time!

@@jenniferlauderdale2319 I have gifted a few bibles over the years... and maybe it is wrong of me to think this way...but since most of my bibles cost between 70.00 and 200.00... when I gift a bible.. I want to make sure the one I gift it to is going to use it... I gifted my daughter an expensive bible back in 2005 when she graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College.. and I am happy to say.. she is STILL using this bible .. one of these days this bible will be passed on to her children... my grand children.... others I have gifted to church members... but I do not know if they were ever used by them or just re-gifted to someone else... I want any bibles I gift to be used .,,, Not just wind up in someones garbage .. maybe that is wrong of me but that is how I think...one time a lady in our church around the year 2000.. was bemoaning the loss of here beloved LIBERTY Study..bible... after doing some research I found that this bible had been re-named the KJV NELSON STUDY BIBLE.. editor JERRY FALWELL... it was originally called the Liberty Study bible since Falwell was associated with Liberty University in Virginia... originally part of the OLD TIME GOSPEL HOUR MINISTRIES...well I purchased this bible just for her a Hardcover copy.. fpr about 50.00 because I had never heard of it before and I was Not even sure if it was the right format she wanted.... She looked at it and thanked me for it.. but I could tell she was disappointed because it was Not Genuine Leather.. and Not titled "the Liberty Study Bible"..even though everything on the inside notes and all were identical to her lost one....she may have used it once ... then....2 weeks later her and her usband began attending different... church... I felt like I had been punched in the gut...... another time a few years later 2004...we got a new pastor to our church.. and he came with this Zondervan Study Bible that appeared that he had been using for 40 years... so anonymously... I purchased him brand new bible exactly like the one he had ....Genuine Leather and all ....and keft it on his study desk signed "a gift from the deacons"...I was Not A deacon.....I do not think he ever used it...He kept preaching week in and week out from that same tattered one... over the years...I often tried to hint about it without giving away that I was the one who gave it to him.. to see if he would divulge what ever became of the new one.. but he never said.. he died in 2017... and the secret went to his grave with him... and I never told him or his wife it was me that gave him the bible... probably because knowing him ....if he knew... he would try to give it back to me ...which I did Not wish.....

I can get so caught up in watching Bible reviews and wanting this Bible then and that Bible next. I admit I have been a translation snob many times. I want very much to have an everything Bible where I put all my notes into one Bible rather than having 3 to 5 Bibles sitting on my desk. I went through mine a few weeks ago and was able to give some to my family who in turn gave some to a friend. Now I just need to remember that it's not the physical appearance, but the Word of Life that matters and choose my everything Bible. Thanks!

Faith, Faith, Faith...while I totally get where you're coming from in your vid regarding premium Bibles and how some seem more interested in the Bible and it's construction and features over actually using it, there are those (and I'm including myself in that ) who do enjoy a top quality premium Bible...or two...or three! ;) If you've never had one, like a Schuyler Quentel in a luxurious goatskin cover with amazing paper and layout that will last a lifetime, then you might not fully understand why some are so drawn to owning these high end Bibles. I have several, and I do use most of them...even marking in several. In fact, I hope to pass these Bibles on to my grandkids one day...and where my faux leather, trutone, or hardback Bibles will most likely be falling apart or coming unbound to where they may become so fragile to even handle some day, a good premium Bible will remain useable for the long haul through my lifetime and that of my grandkids. Yes, some people get carried away and may be trying to fill some hole in their soul with way more expensive premium Bibles than they'll ever be able to use, they could be collecting something else which offers no opportunity to encounter God's Word. Just my 2 cents.

@Gretchen Taylor... where as I agree with you to a point regarding Premium bibles.. I have a Schuyler and an Allan.Bible . myself... I do Not agree that the paper layout will last a lifetime.. the ones I have are a very thin 28 GSM.. paper.. and if one is Not too careful.. the paper will tear very easily... and I have seen reviews on these where the paper bleed thru using gel pens or high lighters is horrendous...also there is a certain amount of temperence required even in regards to page turning... for if one does this too quickly.. the pages will develop a crease in them that does not smooth out over time.. there is a certain method in regards as to how the pages need to be turned..to avoid permanent creases..... though I have several bibles I have used over the years over and over again... I usually do not have to be concerned with permanent creases in the pages or dog eared pages.. another thing I detest.... I think a bible can be read and handled often without these worries occuring by accident... even page turning has to be done with finesse on these..Premium Bibles..they are definitelu NOT. suitable to take to a church where the sermon is going back and forth thru many passages quickly... Not Suitable at all..!!..now ,,... maybe the older ones from several years ago used heavier paper.. but sadly many of the newer ones use lighter GSM paper to compromise for the weight of the bible..since some were complaining their bibles were to Heavy to carry...thereby sacrificing the quality of endurance.pf the paper....... I would be cautious regarding the marking up of certain Shuylers and Allans available...today...

Ecclesiastes 8:4 “Where the *word of a king* is, there is *power:* and who may say unto him, What doest thou?” This verse is one of those definitive verses on the Authorized Version (with Ps 12:6-7; Ps 138:2) If you want a Bible with *”power”* , then you need one translated under *”a king”* Better yet; get one translated under a king with a Jewish name (James - Jacob in Hebrew). And if all that is not enough, you will want to get a Bible connected with absolute time (Greenwich England), absolute measurement (British Thermal Unit), and absolute location (latitude and longitude) The NIV, RSV, NASV, NKJV, etc don’t even qualify . So naturally they all change the verse so you will not connect it with your King James Bible.

The Bible translation that you should read: IS THE ONE YOU'LL READ!!! It was the best advice I got when contemplating the main/reading Bible I wanted to use. I was using the NKJV/KJV in my first few years... Then changed over to the NASB. But, this year, I researched all about the CSB, as I love the HCSB. But, as the HCSB is no longer in print. When I started listening to the CSB through audio. It's like the Bible suddenly came alive to me and I didn't want to stop listening to it 😊!!! I love that the CSB is both accurate and readable and it's officially my main Bible. For studying and better clarity I love using: AMP, NLT, NASB, NIV, etc... I love using the KJV for poetic purposes and hand lettering! For Church and travelling, I have a pocket size CSB (legit the Bible fits in my pants/skirt pockets). But, I've also thought to just use my phone Bible app that has all the translations. And to just bring a pen and blank paper for note taking. I'm a minimalist at heart and I love to travel light.

There's a problem with the CSB bible translation, Micah 5:2, not only in the CSB it was terrible wrongly translated, also In the NIV, NET, among other modern translations. The chocking thing is that in the HCSB this verse, Micah 5:2 was correctly translated: "2 Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; One will come from you to be ruler over Israel for Me. His origin is from antiquity, from eternity." That final sentence says that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has no begining cause his origins is "from eternity", that's the difference. The CSB denies Christ's deity cause He is eternal, but, HCSB does not. Be careful!! Blessings!!

@@joseramonperez9609 I'd have to look further into those verses in the CSB and compare them with other translations. Thanks for your reply on that. It's been 8mths since this comment and have recently gone more digital instead of a physical Bible. My favourite translations are: HCSB and AMP. So, I mostly only use the CSB when I want to listen to Scripture 'audibly.' I'd listen to the HCSB audibly but I prefer the deeper man's voice for CSB! It's truly a blessing to have multiple translations at my fingertips. Cause even: KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, etc.... They are not 100% "perfect" either. There is always going to be a better used word in each of them.
@joseramonperez9609
@joseramonperez9609 7 ай бұрын
@@Blurp3 It's good to have multiple bible translations to consult as you are well telling me, but, I prefer bible translations based on the *_Textus Receptus,_* cause in the XVI Reformers time, the bible translations resulted from their work in the Lord are the bible translations which God powerfully used to bless the nascent church and still has, so if God moved them to use the _Textus Receptus _ but not the _Critical Text_ that fact should make us to consider which bible translation to read and study from. In God nothing is random but according to his plans and purposes. The modern bible translators do not take this fact into account and that is why the deity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is compromised in almost all modern bible translations which have passages and verses such as Micah 5:2 that have been so wrongly translated. If a bible translation denies the deity of our Lord, then it must not be worthy of our trust, that is the difference between biblical translations based on the _Receptus Text_ and those based on the _Critical Text._ Blessings!

@@joseramonperez9609 I have heard a plethora of KZbin videos that carefully go through both of them. And that is why I mostly use the translations of the older Dead Sea Scrolls... They pretty much match up with only a few slight differences which doesn't shake my faith. But, I also use different translations for different purposes. Ultimately, I want to always rely on the, Holy Spirit, for understanding. But, I always check, for example; what the NASB says, and compare it with KJV. And I try to dissect it with Hebrew and Greek. That is why I love 'verse mapping' so much, as it helps break down each word in-depth. Using both Textus and Critical, I'd say is the best. I come from the trades, I see the value in quality. If I buy a tool I don't want it to break when I need it, then buy another cheap one to replace it... again and again. Me spending more upfront on something quality saves me more in the long run, plus then I can hand it down to my sons. Why not for something so much more important like God's word? What's the real difference between "consuming" a $50 bible every couple years or spending $200 on one that will last you a generation? I have a couple bibles that will most likely last me a lifetime of use and then be handed down to my sons, I see great value in that and I hope my sons will as well when they receive them.

Thankyou for this~ seeing other youtuber having hundreds of bibles n bunch of premiums one actually stress me out before~ it is not influencing me right~ just feel so wrong~ not because i cant afford it, but i dont know how to put it since english isnt my first language, it just rubs me the wrong way~ i also fall into the category of ‘collecting’ instead of really just appreciates n truly dig in those bible i already have~ im not against premium bible, just against the culture of collecting massive amount of bibles

The Bible that I use the most is my NIV because I have years worth of notes in it, and I’ve started adding plain paper for extra note-taking room as Faith has done in her Bible. This particular Bible is a Ryrie Study Bible, and it is held together with duct tape and a bungee cord to keep it from falling apart. I will never give up this Bible because I see my Christian walk on almost every page. That being said, I also have a Daily Walk Chronological NIV that I am going to use when I am reading my Bible as opposed to studying my Bible. I heard someone once say that the “best” Bible is a Bible that you will actually read.

Pound for Pound the KJV is the best translation. Granted some words are no longer in common use, but a quick Google search is an easy fix for that. Doing so expands one's knowledge and wisdom. That said is the best to be used by a middle schooler? A few yes but for most kids maybe not

@@danieldunn6284 it’s not the 400 year old English language, but that the KJV was based on only a handful of Greek manuscripts that were very corrupted by the Latin catholic Vulgate - the oldest of which was 10th century , such that it included lots of a phrases and verses that are not in the oldest Greek manuscripts. Sometimes these Catholic additions to scripture change or alter the meaning of the passage. For example, Romans 8:1.

I agree there isn't a perfect Bible and I have multiple translations. That being said I do have an ESV Schuyler Quentel Premium Bible and I truly enjoy it, I take it with me everywhere, it's in my purse and is easy to read when I wear my glasses or don't wear them. I purchased it when I got promoted. I'm also of the age where my son's are out of the house and I don't have the expenses I did in my 20 or 30s. I've had it for 5 years and you can tell I use it. Please be careful how you say things about buying premium Bibles because someone could purchase 10 different Bibles that cost them 20.00 each so they've spent 200.00 on Bibles and they just collect dust or they could spend 100.00 on a Bible that they read every day and meditate on . The point I'm trying to make is don't put yourself in debt even if there all being used.

The best comment I’ve heard is from a Pastor about a premium Bible. He said “people have no problem spending $1000. on a phone, but the word of God is so much more precious” I also have a few Schuylers in different translations. I read, study &write in them. I even put tabs on one, something a “collector” would frown at.

What always comes to mind when I ‘meet’ a new brother or sister Christian is that we’re going to know each other for eternity with our AWESOME Savior and all the saints! Imagine going up to Matthew or John and chatting with them for hours or days(?) on how the Holy Spirit moved them to write their portion of scripture! Blows my mind that that’s what Jesus did for us on the cross, what a humbling and incredible truth. Thanks for your beautiful efforts to bring all your viewers closer to our amazing God!!

So, I read my NIV thin line every day and absolutely love it. Underlined throughout. Feels great in the hands. I also have an NIV personal size Study Bible that has notes and underlined throughout extensively. However, I recently found out about Schuyler Bibles and I'm really loving the look and quality of the Personal Size Quentel's and really want one. I don't think anything is wrong with wanting a really beautiful premium Bible, especially one to hand down to my kids. I definitely agree that it doesnt save you and isnt imperative by any means. People should get a Bible that they will read and digest from but I'd really like one. What are your thoughts on that?

Thank you, as always, for a great video. You are spot on; a Bible, its translation, its quality, etc., does not save a person. Obviously, this is the the work of the Lord Himself. On this main point, I completely agree. I do, however, respectfully disagree with the premise that there is NEVER a place for a premium Bible, and that one should NEVER purchase such a Bible. For instance…I have a number of Bibles that I use for my regular reading and studying of the Word, and my KJV Study Bible is a main one. It is the one that really feels most familiar and like an “old friend,” so to speak. However, it is a replacement of its predecessor, a KJV Study Bible of lesser quality that completely fell apart, and the current one is actually on its way to needing a replacement. If, or I should say when, I need to replace this Bible again, I will be buying a premium quality KJV Study Bible, and it will be the last time I replace it. (Another example would be the Thompson chain reference Bible my husband bought years ago. It was a hardcover, and has now fallen apart, such that it is no longer usable. This is another Bible that, when it gets replaced one last time, it will be with a premium leather version.) But, as I stated, the study Bible is one of many Bibles on my shelf, all of which are hardcover, or imitation leather, etc; while I do aspire to one day own a premium leather Bible, I do not need a shelf full of them. I plan to pass ALL of them down to my children, no matter what quality they may be. I hope we as believers understand that we will vary widely in our opinions on the place that particular Bibles may or may not have in our personal stashes. No doubt, just as you consider premium Bibles to be inappropriate, there are believers that think it is out of line to have more than one Bible, or one translation, etc. I completely respect you for having a shelf full of Bibles, and no desire to own a premium Bible. I also completely respect those who have a shelf full of premium Bibles. Neither of you share my exact position on this issue…and that’s okay! Again, thanks for this video (I am in complete agreement with your main point)! P.S. I look forward to your video in which you share how you will move into a new Bible once your current one-which I absolutely love, with all the wonderful notes you have in it!-falls apart. :)

I agree with you. I think she said in a previous video that she would have to start looking into rebinding one day. This is another reason I think premium bibles can be worth the investment if you plan to have your Bible for a while. Rebinding can cost at least $100 more than the initial purchase of premium bible and they have lifetime warranties.

This is going to be lengthy haha I hope this helps you “understand” premium bibles. I don’t know why you talk down on expensive bibles. I never met a person who said that someone has to have a premium Bible. I’ve never met a person who thought they got extra points with God because of it. I’ve never met someone who bought premium bibles and never used them. Never met a person who thought their goatskin cover brought them salvation. 😂😂😂😂😅😅😅 thick ribbons are better at doing what they’re supposed to do: flipping pages open with them. Paper won’t fall out because it’s stitched. Paper is opaque (thus expensive) which allows me to read LONGER without sore eyes from the severe page “ghosting” of cheap bibles. Leather won’t split or peel, because it’s quality material. That’s why they’re bought… because it lasts. Because it’s quality material… There’s a reason yours are falling apart and my R.L. Allan, Cambridge, etc isn’t even showing any signs of aging. Not everyone wants their bibles to fall apart. Unless you think a worn bible makes you look “cool” or something. It’s junk materials. If you use your Bible HEAVILY, the premium market was literally created FOR that very reason. I don’t even make much money at my job. It’s an investment that’s worth it to ME. My take on it is this: if I’m going to be reading and taking notes in my Bible EVERYDAY, I want it to last as long as possible. I’m saving money in the long run by paying $250 for an R.L. Allan or a Schuyler as opposed to buying a new cheap faux leather bible that begins falling apart in less than a year, over and over again. I don’t worship my bible just because I want one that will last. I have 4 bibles in different translations and won’t have to buy a bible ever again in my life unless they are stolen. With your logic, you all should buy cheap laptops, cars, shoes, shirts, jeans, earrings, food, etc. Buying good name-brand dish soap doesn’t get you salvation. Makes no sense to me why you’d want name-brand dish soap. (Very sarcastic paragraph here) Just wanted to share my experience. But, yes, some people collect premium bibles and it’s not a sin. If they aren’t putting their bibles before God, is it a sin? If they don’t put their bibles before others, is it a sin? Id say no and no. What matters is that they obey Gods commands and strive to live like Jesus. If they enjoy Gods word and want multiple copies, there’s nothing wrong with it. It doesn’t necessarily mean they are storing up treasures on earth or idolizing them. People have interests. Some buy guitars, some buy baseball cards. I can’t think of one piece of scripture that would convict most of these bible collectors of a sin. Most of them are bibliophiles who put God first and obey his word and get excited about the art of binding bibles. A wonderful thing. I HIGHLY recommend people buy a premium Bible and use it. Save money, save notes from being wasted by having to replace your bible, and most importantly, enjoy it. It’s like everyone here is broke (nothing wrong with that. I make 15 an hour) and is justifying their inability to buy a premium Bible by mentioning how useless it is, like it makes them feel better. I don’t understand. God bless you all and have a good day!

Loved this episode! The perfect Bible is the one in which you read and learn God's Word. You are spot-on about the premium Bibles. I love reading through a different Bible every year because I like reading different translations and notes. I get Bibles on sale at online sites. Maybe a premium Bible would be good if someone plans to pass down their Bible within their family. But those tiny paper mites will eat the paper of premium Bibles, too!
