OH YES, Blueberry Pie sounds so wonderful. Refrigerator cold slice with ice cream and a large glass of milk. OR: Warmed with vanilla ice cream on a cool fall evening and a cup of tea on the side. (actually, any kind of fruit in a pie sounds great)

Once again, Tipper it looks larrapin'. Baking pies is an art for some and I've made some that didn't look so pretty. Just tell folks that eyeballs gots no tastebuds, so just shove it in your pie hole and enjoy. When my grandma came from Norway in 1906 one of her first jobs was working at a summer resort on Green Lake in Minnesota. She was the pastry cook specializing in blueberry pies. Diners would tip her 25 cents for her great blueberry pies. A quarter in those days looked as big as a dinner platter. Love y'all.

Miss Cindy reminds me so much of my mother in law, Joyce. She passed away last August. I learned so much about cooking from her. I also learned counted cross stitch. I never had blueberries until I met her. Like you, it just wasn’t something my family grew or purchased. They are my favorite berry now. Joyce was so welcoming to me from day one and she is very missed.

That pie looks sooo delicious just like the rest of your food! Also, if you ever did want to put a design in your top pie crust, you can always use small cookie cutters (maybe a flower or bird or leaf) and/or cookie stamps (when you stamp the dough it will create a pattern. You can stamp the entire dough).

I will be so glad when this heat is gone and I can bake. We don’t dare turn the oven on in the summer and I hate that. No pies, cakes nor Chicken Pot pies after about April. We can start back baking in October. I use the bread machine for bread and air fryer a lot.

Good morning, I enjoy your videos. Thank you I live in Connecticut, your southern accent is charming and you stories and anecdotes are interesting. I would like to offer my tip for blueberry picking. I want to use 2 hands to pick so i use a milk jug that I cut the top off but leave the handle to which I tie a ribbon or string that I put around my neck for hands free picking. I always bring a larger container to dump into as I go so I can get slit of berries.🙂

I've had my soil tested from the places where I'd put a bush, but alas, it's not acidic enough without amending. But I have my blackberry bush, which has a boat-load of berries on it this year, and there are even more primocanes on it this year than there were last year. Now for a raspberry bush! And I'm with you, Miss Tipper; concerned more with how things taste than how they look!

I think I love almost every pie! Okay, maybe not steak & kidney! But you understand. I used to always fuss about my pie turning out runny, but that's better than having a thick filling! I have a recipe that makes 5 crusts, so I make that, divide it into 5 equal (more or less) pieces, flatten them into disks, wrap in plastic, and slide into a freezer bag. They keep really well, and I can get out what I need. They take very little time to thaw out. Don't apologize for making your pie as you do! The taste is THE most important thing, and I can see it had to have tasted good! I do it pretty much the same way you do, down to the crimping! My mom used to cut an A for apple, C for cherry, etc. No big deal. It just always tasted excellent!

Hi Tipper… I wanted to share how my dad (the pie baker in our family) vents the top crust on his pies… he cuts slashes in the shape of the mathematical symbol for pi… which also stands for Paul and Inez… they have been married for 65 years this past January and at 88 (mom) and 87 (dad) they are still hanging in there.
