I loved Act Your Age, Eve Brown and the Fifth Season. I reread The Fifth Season before reading The Obelisk Gate and enjoyed it even more the second time! Now I need to re read The Obelisk Gate and finally finish the trilogy this year! My favorite books of last year were The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, A Mind Spread Out on The Ground by Alicia Elliot, and the Raybearer duo loft be Jordan Ifueko! ❤️

You're so right about Fifth Season! I got so close to DNFing because I was feeling so lost, but it was totally worth it pushing through, it's truly genius. And People We Meet on Vacation was my last read of 2021 and also one of my favorites! It was delicious to see the characters relationship develop through the years, they had so much chemistry, it was so fun, they hardly felt like characters at all! I'll definitely be reading more from this author too

You're one of the 1st persons that I've heard say such good things about the Atlas 6. I know it's being officially released this year. It was self published got picked up by a publisher so it will go through a editing process. I decided to wait until then to read it. I think it comes out in March.

the fifth season (tbh the entire broken earth trilogy) is one of the best books I have ever read ! it makes me so sad to see people give up on it early on. I've been really wanting to reread the series because I just know there are seeds planted throughout the books that I didn't notice the first time. N.K. Jemisin is a master of the craft

I read People We Meet On Vacation and really did not like it. It felt to me that there were just too many times the main conflict could have easily been resolved with the simplest of conversations. I also didn’t really enjoy the characters. But of course, different books for different people. I was just shocked to see it on this list. I just got some really good recommendations in other books on this list though! Thank you Mina! 🙂

I have so many mixed feelings about Atlas Six. I don't know if I should read it, because aspects of it are appealing. Like the character-driven aspect, the academic rivalry, the dark academia vibes, and the comments on the prose also perks my interest. But, I have also seen criticism on the world-building, and I have read books like that before and unless it is done with a dash of whimsy I kind of hate it and I find it underdeveloped. I have also seen comparisons of this book to others that I have also not enjoyed, so I really don't know. If I do, I will be taking a bit of a gamble.
