@paulhelinski98906 ай бұрын
Hi Mike. I am the father of the kids of the company who sponsored this video, and I very much enjoyed your take on the products. You alluded to the main comment I would make. You said that you held back without wearing a knuckle. That is because the handle of the knuckle is meant to protect the structure of your hand from breaking. Similar to a fighter wrapping his hands. This is why bare knuckle boxing is upside down as you know because the structure of the hand is the weak point, not just the skin. If you put the full knuckle on properly and gut punch a heavy bag I think you will understand why the internet maven's slashing away with their Knuckles are fidiots. And yes you have been sent many knuckles but you have not been sent many knuckles in four sizes. Think about how a woman is usually attacked first. Usually they grab their wrist. A small knuckle that fits her hand allows her to hammerfist the wrist of her would be captor. And oh if you had hammer-fisted the skull with the full knuckle, you also would understand the strength of it. The single knuckle is a great design and there are no statutes against it anywhere. But in a real fight without rules being able to hammer fist on someone's wrist is a huge plus. You should get an affiliate code from them and do a whole string of videos. Your first point in the video was the most important LOL. Corrosion yeah that's it.

There is a design that kinda is like that. Its called Thyrm Switchback, it's finger ring with a pocket clip you can attach to a flashlight. Imagine a karambit, that's the visualization basically. Primary purpose is to easily grab flashlight under stress. Secondary purpose is to have one reinforced knuckle for hitting. But a full size brass knuckles built onto a flashlight would be a OP weapon. Bc the bottom could protrude for pronounced hammer hits plus using the actual light and the other side would be the tail switch

Three concerns I have with brass knuckles: 1. They limit/over-commit what your hands can do. They take away too many options. I do not see them as an advantage over an empty hand. They might even give a false sense of safety or dominance. 2. They are illegal in lots of places, and you might not know about all the local laws that can change from county to county, or town to town. 3. After you survive the fight, you have to survive the trial. The prosecutor will say they show intent to do excessive harm in what is a fistfight situation.

My main gripe with the brass knuckles is that you can't really rely on it if your life was in danger. Picture this, imagine you're in danger and grab your knuckles and now your attacker grabs a knife. Don't you feel at least a little bit like an idiot at that point thinking you were gonna do glancing hits with your plastic brass knuckles. Just drop the thing and run would be my advice. Don't rely on a sub-par weapon. And if you can't rely on it why carry it in the first place?

seems like a redesign of the old comtech stinger. Plus side of this new style, more protection of the knuckle and better retention. The old stinger jutted out between your fingers, but that made it easier to grab quickly. for either style it seems like your hand isn't really in danger until it's to late for the other guy anyway. just checked, they still sell the stinger. it's a dead simple design you could 3d print or injection mold so I'm not too surprised.

Damn that single "knuck" seems really practical. I feel like people have been sleeping on synthetic/hard plastic weapons, they're much easier to maintain, often cause less "accidents" and are generally more affordable too. I feel like giving the knuck a full grip instead of seperating the fingers is a genius move too, many knuckle like weapons in history had basically a grip for the full hand. No idea why modern brass knuckles seperate the fingers if the whole idea of a punch is to keep the hand tight so you dont mess up your fingers.

Hello, I know it’s an old video but better late than never! I’m in Greece and brass knuckles is something commonly edc together with a knife. The first time I tried to hit something with a BK I almost broke my fingers. Everybody laughed and then explained me the proper way. You fit the BK as rings but what you do is you hold as hard as you can the portion of BK which is in your palm. Like when holding a lighter. You are going to feel the impact but not in your finger, in the inside base of your palm. Hope I helped a lil!

The men all made it through the metal detectors with plastic knuckle dusters and attacked the bodyguards who were all well known fighters themselves (very large men who were used to being hit) There was blood all over the walls and the victims all had lengthy stays in hospital with serious injuries. These weapons are very dangerous but a lot less lethal than say a knife. There are many videos of brass knuckles being used online where hammerfists result in a KO.

The orbital socket (part of the skull that houses the eyeball) is fairly easy to stove in when using blunt force enhancers. At that point the self defense argument gets pretty thin in court. Better to use something near at hand you didn't bring along showing an intent or willingness to use, albeit that also leaves you with fewer options in a forced encounter. Individual mileage may vary.

Plastic ones could arguably be more defensive since you can punch faster. Heavy hits with the metal knuckle dusters that misses target will leave you vulnerable a bit longer. So if you are fighting a lighter and fast target that can dodge quickly these would be preferred. Then when you fight a heavier guy you might switch to the metal knuckle dusters.
@bloodlove934 ай бұрын
interesting and tempting to get. one thing I'd love to see in future videos with similar blunt trauma effects, and even a mini clip of this demonstration, but using shock stickers or whatever they're called, the things that show if the physical shock received would be lethal or not,usually red or green.

The idea behind knuckles being brass was in part to add weight. As with fist loads (like a roll of quarters or a piece of heavy pipe) adding mass to one's fist is make the impact harder. If you know how physics works (Mass x Velocity²) adding a little mass to one's fist going the speed of a punch does add force.
@1TieDye16 ай бұрын
It only adds force if the punch is going the same speed. And if you add mass to your hand, but the force your body produces to move your fist stays the same, you’d get less acceleration and thus less speed.
@asa-punkatsouthvinland71456 ай бұрын
@@1TieDye1 no. Brass knuckles are not heavy enough to significantly slow a punch. They weigh around what boxing gloves weigh (boxing gloves are 8oz vs the typical 6-89z for brass knuckles) so if a boxer has force after the added weight then so too BKs add force even if at a slightly lowered velocity; because of total mass x velocity squared. Let's dumb the numbers down to see how it works out. To keep it simple let's say a fist weighs 1 unit & knuckles weigh 1 unit. Let's say a regular punch 20mph without gloves but 18mph with gloves; professional-level boxers can generate punch speeds of around 25 mph or more. 1x20² = 400 vs 2x18² = 640 640 with BKs is definitely more than 400 without even at a reduced velocity. Then add to it the fact brass is far denser a material than the bones if the fist with far less give & the punch transfers more power into a target than a bare fist.

411 outdoors LLC channel reviewed these plastic knucks a while back and I meant to order one but it slipped my mind until today. Thanks for the (sometimes hilarious) review. It's a reminder to get online and order one. It's a force multiplier, especially for us older folks who just want assholes to "get off me." The question I have is where would one go to buy a training skull/head to bash?

If the powerline goes through the third knuckle (which is where the boxers break occurs), why not use the brass knuckle on it to not only reinforce but maximize your power?
