Nice, that's awesome to hear! Only the older Sony cameras (a6500, a6300, A7S 2, A7R 2, etc.) have 30-minute recording limits. Now, there are tons of Sony cameras with unlimited recording. It's nice to not have to worry about recording limits lol As long as you've got space on your SD card, you can record!

Woah this is SPECTACULAR information! I use an A7iii for my livestreaming and have a quick-switch head so I can take it off and use it for stills, but I've been looking for a cheap, solid second camera to shoot my wife and I's podcast. This is phenomenal! Edit: looks like the 6400 and 6600 now have unlimited recording as well!

Yeah, if you're looking for a camera for podcasting the a6100 is great for that. There are actually quite a few Sony cameras that have unlimited recording the in the APS-C lineup the a6100, a6400 and a6600 all have unlimited recording options. The a6100 is the only one without picture profiles but if you don't need them, you're solid.

What are the best video settings do you think, for both livestream and recording

To keep things simple when live streaming, I try to match what most live streaming software or tools are used to using, which is 1080p 30fps (frames per second). This means the shutter speed on the camera will be set to 1/60th of a second and the ISO will depend on my environment and how bright I need it to be or you can put it on Auto and let the camera decide what to do for you.

Thanks! This video was a long time before the ZV-E10 came out and it honestly doesn’t compare to that camera for tons of reasons. The ZV-E10 is a far better camera hands down. Unless you’re getting the a6100 for $300 or something, it’s not worth buying over the ZV-E10.

Wow, great timing for you to find this video then! I think the a6100 is great and could work for that but I don't think it may be best for that because it doesn't have internal stabilization on the sensor or digitally. So, that means you'd have to invest in stabilized lenses or a gimbal. It also doesn't have any picture profiles if you intend on color grading. It's a great little camera but it's important to know its limitations as well. Unless you're in a hurry to purchase one, then I'd suggest waiting because Sony has a new camera called the ZV-E10 that will be releasing soon that may be a better fit vs the a6100 for the same price.

It'll work fine for recording a group of people. I've never had were the Sony autofocus was an issue and constantly missing shots because it doesn't know where to focus. And depending on the situation you're in you can still change the autofocus type. If you have a group of folks, some close to the camera and some further away, know you'll need to adjust your aperture and possible the autofocus type depending on your needs in that space. But if you're recording something like a panel or a group of folks for a podcast, it'll be more than fine.

Will these work with a Black Magic ATEM Switcher for multiple camera angles?

Yep! If you're using the ATEM mini, the main thing you'd need your camera to have is Clean HDMI out so the icons are not on the screen and the camera doesn't go to sleep. However, there is an updated Sony camera to this one, slightly cheaper I think now but far greater value worth checking out, the Sony ZV-E10: amzn.to/3FXzuTh

I am completely stupid when it comes to tech and especially cameras. I want a camera that i can use in my office room to film long videos in one take ( drawings, crafting, building etc ) so ideally around 6-10 hours if thats even possible. This camera has since been replaced with something better and a bit lower in price by Sony called the Sony ZV-E10 and it's a much better camera than the Sony a6100. It definitely does all you'd like to do. For extended power options, you'll want to get what's called a dummy battery. I've used the Sony cameras for upwards of 16 hours and no issues streaming in 4k. I needed a camera that could shoot 4K, didn't overheat, could do unlimited recording, and had great autofocus. It was down to the Canon M50 or the Sony a6400. But the M50's autofocus in 4K wasn't what I needed. I put an alert on eBay for any Sony a6400 with a "Buy It Now" price of less than $750. It took me 3 months but I finally got it during Cyber Monday!

Yeah, the autofocus works fine in photo mode, people use these cameras for all sorts. The bigger concern is the lens choice, that's all.

I think that’s a good deal, be interesting to see what lenses you put with the camera. I guess as a Cannon user apart from my Sigma 16mm and kit lens... I have rather a few adaptors... EOS-M Viltrox, and Cannon. M42, MD, FD, and one for the Konica Ar.... I have a thing for vintage lenses. Apart from the trilogy of lenses from Sigma, and maybe the 22mm pancake I don’t rate the Cannon M lens line up. I think I may have to rent a Sony Camera just to do a comparison between then...I’ve not used one before....so I think I’m going to have some fun...

If you're into adapter lenses it'd still work well for you since the flange distance on the Sony's are really small. So, you'd have to get different adapters for the vintage lenses, just to match the E Mount vs the Canon Mount. Those that I've seen who use vintage lenses, seem to enjoy it. It's definitely worth taking a look at.

@@DianaGladney so having bought the M50 with a kit lens recently, I'm deciding which lens to upgrade to. Sounds like the Sigma is the best quality option. If I upgrade to a Sony camera later, I'm assuming the lens I had bought is not compatible though? I guess the point is how much more investment do you make in Canon if the way ahead seems to be Sony! Having said that, I'm getting good quality with the Canon over Camlink/HDMI, and hooking up the EOS Camera utility (not the webcam utility) stops it shutting down at 30 mins. I think that depends on a couple things. For me, if I’m knowing I’m going to do something eventually and there is more at stake in my work flow efficiency currently continuing to suffer with what I currently have, then it’s often not worth waiting to do because I’m knowing I’m going to make this switch either way. Especially when the resell on that camera is getting pretty low. So, in your case I wouldn’t wait honestly or keep inventing in lenses for it if you’re knowing you’re not going to stick with that system. The Sony and Canon lenses aren’t interchangeable. For some camera mounts brands make converter adapters but if you haven’t bought the Sigma 16mm lens yet, and you’re knowing you’re not going to stick with Canon just switch and get your lenses with who you plan to switch to so you’re not losing money reselling it just to get the same lens for a different camera mount. However, if you’re happy with where you’re at, the limitations on the M50 doesn’t bother you and it might be a couple years before you plan to buy a new camera, stick with it and get the Sigma lens and when you’re ready to upgrade in a couple years you can evaluate what’s available on the market then.

Not how large for the storage capacity, what kind of card meaning what Brand of SD card and what specs? If you look at the card I recommend for the Sony cameras, like the ZV-E10, I share specific details of what your card should have. If it’s a random Amazon brand, it’s no guarantee what kind of performance. Even if buy a reputable brand, it needs to have certain SD card specs.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't recommend the Canon M50 for that use case. There are still regular chain and online stores that can handle shipping to your country. I'd research into some creators in your country and see what recommendations they can possibly provide to you.

There are quite a few: - Sony ZV-1 - Sony ZV-E10 - Sony a6100 - Sony a6400 - Sony a6600 - Sony A7C - Sony A7R4 - Sony A7S3 -Sony A1 Panasonic have a ton as well if you don’t mind them not autofocusing well or will manually focus. Past that, your looking into camcorders or cinema cameras.

It's not a personal interest lost, it just doesn't meet the needs for what most people need so it's not point in recommending them any-longer. I will still recommend cameras depending on the use case but honestly out the last 50 recommendations given from me and genuinely asking all the things they need and only 1 ended up being the Canon M6 Mark II. Plus, Canon has made some strong decisions that adds to that not being recommendable any longer as well.

Recording or streaming, there are no limitations. Make sure your memory card can handle 4k. I’ve recorded for hours nonstop and I only shoot in 4k.
