Black Widows have become rather pricey for the full set. They are still a budget-friendly option though for sure, but just don't feel like they are as affordable as they used to be. One tip to save even more with Arteza is to use Rakuten. You get cash back for shopping through the actual Arteza site and first-time buyers get coupon codes emailed too, so you can snag their pencils cheaper there than Amazon. The others are all much cheaper on Amazon for sure.

Hi Pamela, I have the original Arteza 72 color pencils and I noticed they dissolve a bit like watercolor. The Black Widow do the same. I have Polychromos, Luminance,Pablo,Derwent, none of them do that its like a hybrid. Have you noticed this?
@PamelasPassionforPencils3 жыл бұрын
I have never noticed this at all with my pencils. Did you watch the blend tests I did in the video? Did the pencils seem to do the same as you experience when you're using them?
@lunakat57633 жыл бұрын
@@PamelasPassionforPencils The pencils work great using them dry. I don't know what made me think to put water on the paper. The Arteza was the first I noticed it. Later I was watching a video from Lindsay The frugal crafter and she said her Arteza pencils were water soluble. I got my set when the pencils first came out apparently they changed the formula now they are supposed to be water proof. I don't mind it I just use a bit of water in place of Gamsol if needed.

I also love the primsma , now I want the schpirerr farben , the colors look very vibrant. Now I have a new shopping list lol. I do believe I know what my gift card will be used for😁 Crayola also has metallics and neons they’re really pretty. Looks like the black widow pencils blend beautifully.

I’m so glad I helped you create your shopping list. The Crayolas are definitely wonderful pencils. I am not sure what you mean by a blender set. Can you look at it and tell me exactly what they are called? You had mentioned in another comment they have a light blue in this particular set. I would love to know which this is. I’m wondering if you’re talking about their signature line of pencils.

The Schpirerr Farben are 50 cents a pencil... About the same as Prismacolor (currently at 52 cents per pencil, though prices fluctuate). And the Arteza are more than Prisma. Crazy how the prices go. I still want them, though! I had a hard time with Crayola. Found they filled the tooth before I had good color payoff.

Schpirerr Farben $131.00 in Canada

Oh no! I have heard so much lately about the prices on these pencils in Canada. It's such a shame. I have had so many people in my Facebook group from Canada very upset about the price of Crayolas as well.
@jamesaritchie12 жыл бұрын
I don't think Crayola pencils are a good idea, simply because there are much better pencils at about the same price. The number of pencils you get may be smaller, but the LAST thing a beginner needs or should have is a pencil set with over a hundred pencils in it. Even a pro doesn't actually need anywhere near the number of pencils that come in the large sets that just about all of us buy. I strongly suggest no more than a seventy-two pencil set, and chances are many of these will go unused, except maybe as a brief curiosity. A forty-eight set is even better, and you simply don't need more than thrity-six. A huge number of pencils is not an advantage for a beginner, or even for most professional. Though with professionals who really are on the top of the pile, chance are they have dozens of unused pencils in their large sets. Better thirty-six high quality pencils than one hundred and twenty low quality. But there are still advantages to smaller sets, even if you're still buying Crayola. 1. You save money. 2. There's far less confusion about which pencil to use, which means you spend more time actually learning how to use the pencils. 3. You learn more about color theory, and you learn it faster. And while it may not matter to a beginner, Crayola has zero light fastness. It's the same with many other cheap brands. If you do create something you want to keep and display, you really need a brand of pencils that has a a degree of light fastness. Though I will say there's a LOT of misinformation about light fastness. Your drawing is not going to automatically fade out just because it isn't light fast. Keep it out of direct sunlight and it will last a long, long time. If you're still worried, cover it with the right kind of glass or film. Too, just because aa cheap brand isn't marked as light fast doesn't mean it isn't. Some Chinese brands have never been tested. Do you own simple test before believing what someone tells you. Anyway, I have nothing against Crayola. Like many artists, I not only have some top of the line sets, I can't seem to see any set without wanting to try it. I have a forty-eight pencil set of Crayola. I originally bought them to teach my grandchildren, but when I saw what they could do I bought a second set just to play with. They're fun, and I can try things with them, like soaking them in water, or putting them in the microwave, that I wouldn't want to do with a Caran d'Ache or a Polychromos.
