I have this laptop bought it at walmart for 600$ and then i went to best buy and put a 32gb of ram in there and i can say its preformed amazing for everything ive put it up to it can run alan wake 2 at all high settings with dlss enabled ive also been playing ratchet and clank rift apart all at high with dlss and in both games i get any where from 60-100 fps in rocket league i get a solid 144 fps and its been a beast i highly suggest getting this laptop i even can play beamng at high with zero issues and the other comment that is being said about the power of the gpu being underclocked i haven't seen any issues with it.

Had to try this one out for 599. Put a 24gb kit in it. I also agree that 16gb isn't enough for something that will be used for gaming/graphics. Very impressive for the price. TGP is 60+15 boost. 75w total. Which is plenty for the 4050. The Ryzen8645 works great. The display is ok, not great. Same for speakers. Nice SD card slot, swallows the whole card. USB speeds are not great. NVME enclosure pulls 450MBs. USB 3.0 I believe. Not great. CPU-GPU stay cool, and it's quiet also. After the RAM and some PTM7950 it's a hell of a machine for the $. Lossless scaling, Ux86TU, and DLSS w FG will get this thing far. Even with 6gb vram. At 1080p that's plenty for now at least. Battery is ok. 5-6hrs on 480p YT video at 50% brightness. It is a heavy boi tho. Cheers. EDIT- After reinstalling the Nvidia drivers via NVCleaninstall, I'm happy to report the battery is much better, when the dGPU kicks off properly. 6-8hrs should be no problem for the YT video example above. I see 8-12w total draw when doing so. Again, not a perfect machine, but very, very solid for the price. Wukong runs great on it, as does CyberPunk2077.

that's how I have felt about 8GB laptops since the release of windows 11. If microsoft is going to insist on running 8000 services in the background on every laptop, the least they can do is make the minimum RAM requirement be 16GB. Too many OEMs wanna do the apple thing of upcharging a lot for RAM. As easy as it is to upgrade on systems like this, they know the vast majority of people wont do it and will either suck it up or pay the premium for more RAM directly from them. Everyone saw apple get away with charging 300 dollars for an extra 8GB and they just wanna replicate that. The thing I worry most about AMD and Intels newest mobile chips is the soldered memory. they're gonna up charge so much just to go from 16GB to 32GB.

love this laptop got like a month ago and I upgraded it to 16gb of ram probably will upgrade to 32 gb soon and also replaced the 512 gb m.2 SSD with a 1tb m.2 SSD as well. plays all the games I want and like. runs all my games at around 100+ fps while rdr2 and more intense games usually run more around 60 to 90 fps

I got this for Christmas and since it was a display model it was $299 for whatever reason and my mom got it for me but told me that someone else got it before she did. This this runs everything I want it to with no problems other than some ser backs from the 8gb of memory it has, I would definitely recommend buying this laptop and upgrading its memory. I got Star Wars Battlefront II and I haven't upgraded my memory yet, so I still have 8gb of memory and the only issues I had was some lag in the during loading and other than that it looks and feels great. It runs Beamng Drive fine it just takes a little bit to load things in, it ran VRchat in VR and not in vr just fine.

Something to note is that the RTX 4050 on this laptop runs at 75W max. Meaning it is undervolted greatly, compared to other RTX 4050 like Lenovo LOQ 2024 ones. I got me a Lenovo LOQ AHP9 with same cpu, same gpu, but 1x 16gb ddr5 ram stick (meaning I had to buy 1 16GB more to get 32GB which is very handy and saves some money), and the RTX 4050 on this lenovo goes up to 140W with boost. Not that you want anything more than 100W on any RTX 4050/4060/4070 as they do not improve performance by using more watts, they only heat up more. That's why I undervolted mine to reduce temps, it gets to 70C max in a 40C country. Same with CPU, you want to undervolt it a bit so it doesn't get to 80-90C when gaming.

Make sure you set up a big page file, it will help with crashes and while fps will not be as good as having more dedicated memory it will at least be much better than simply having 8gb ram with a 2 gb page file or something like that. I really do think the Ram is the major bottle neck unfortunately and the page file will take you much farther but not quite as far as physical memory. I had an alien ware gaming pc with a gpu with 3gb vram and 8gb system memory and had to set a 24gb page file in windows just to be able to play games smoothly and not have crashes.

Sold my Alienware M5 w/ a 5900hx and rtx 3070 and bought this as replacement. Fast cpu threaded and single core and the rtx 4050 is actually capable, in fact I play the delta force (in alpha) game and runs 90+ plus on battery on high settings, very surprising performance. I did swap out to a 1tb m.2 and 32gb dual channel. my only gripe is the screen is pretty basic and doesnt get bright enough.

Bought my father this little beast. Once you upgrade its ram to 16-32 GBs of ram it runs amazing. I bought a 32 GB pair of 2x16 sticks for it and gave it to him so he can enjoy some PC gaming. Ran Cyberpunk fine enough. OF course he does not play that game, but its nice to know it can. I did that little test before i installed the game too.

Yes I can help you somewhat. I've only just bought the laptop like 30 min ago but my box says DDR5. I was also confused because online it said both ddr4 and ddr5. But I bought it for 600 and the box says DDR5. I'm not going to do anything with it just yet but when I open it I will check what is actually in it. If it is anything other than ddr5 then I will let you know. If you are considering buying the laptop from Walmart then I would probably do it soon because it is a back to school sale. It will end soon and possible go back to the original price. If you find that you don't like it for whatever reason then you can return it to walmart WITHIN 30 days for a refund.

Oh also, it does say it can only support 16 gb ram but many people are pushing 32 gb ram and that is exactly what I am going to install. It seems that it should operate fine with 32 gb but if you are concerned then just go up to 16 gb ram and that will at least get you playing the majority of games with mid to high settings without crashing. If you are confused on how the ram is sold here is some advice. The system comes with 2 ram slots. Only 1 is occupied by a single 8gb ram stick at time of purchase. You may buy an additional 8gb ram stick separately and install it into the 2nd ram slot. That will get you to 16 gb total ram. If you would like to go to 32 gb then you will want to buy 2 16gb ram sticks and remove the original ram before installing both your 16 gb sticks.

@Ed360x hey I just checked the specs and you are absolutely fine using 32 gb ddr5 5600 ram. I opened the command prompts and found the max capacity of the system and divided it. It equals out to 32. Which means it can use 32 gb ram. When it says that the max ram is 16 gb it must mean that each slot can take 16 gb.

I’m pretty sure the HP Omen Gaming Hub (App that comes with this laptop) does everything for you, it undervolts/defaults/overclocks the CPU & GPU for better performance or lower temps, it also comes with a ECO mode which basically limits the power of the laptop with just one click, is used to have a longer battery life span (if you are going with battery ofc) and there is a option to automatically activate the ECO mode when you are running on battery so yeah pretty good

It's honeslty not that bad as someone who basically had a 100% srgb laptop screen. That's the thing about gaming laptops more so budget ones you don't get to pick what you trade off. I wasn't aware of this until weeks after I bought it because needed a laptop for school and casual gaming. If you would want a more color accurate screen you would have to go for the victus 16 which is more money.

16 GB is bare minimum, it may not increase your fps, rather, it’s gonna make the overall game perform better since there will be less stuttering which is gonna feel like you gain more fps but it’s actually just making it more smooth with the base frames you already had

When I got this laptop I only had 8 GB and my tests were pretty good: Minecraft vanilla (no mods no nothing) - 380-480 FPS (depends on render distance) Fortnite - 190-200 FPS (high settings) Warzone - this one will not even open since it requires 8 GB+ RAM RPCS3 Emulator - most games were running at 30-60 FPS which is insanely good it depends on the game Rocket League - 200-240 FPS (High settings) I only got around 1-2 days to test this games since I upgraded to 32 GB right away, and as you may expect all the stuttering is no longer there and honestly it performs like a beast im able to play anything with everything at max @60-100 stable FPS

Cool vid I love this laptop!! Right out of box with 8gb ram I got 120 t0 130 fps and then added 8 gb sitck got 170 fps on CS 2. Yes I will upgrade ram later to 32gb or 64 but for now it works good. Only thing I say is watch what stick of ram you get because other vids show they go first ram find on amazon in it was slower ram at 4800mz not what it comes with 5600mz speed. Yes next thing be a 2tb SSD. But all that said for $599 it is still a starter gaming PC. For 90% of you this will do anything you need and there will always be the 1% who nit pick thangs to death I say go pay more $$$$ for better faster and hi FPS but 90% who play few games or people Like me coming from dino days of laptops with NO GPU or so old they was rocken handy downs This pc bet a lot right out of the box. But 4050 isn't bad, 4050 performs way better than 3050, upgrade your ram to 16gb and your laptop will perform amazing with any game you throw in. 40 series has ai frame generation which boosts the fps soo much. So i recommend buying a 4050 since it's really budget-friendly

no, 16GB will avoid pretty much all crashes. 16GB is the bare minimum of what you need. 32GB is just a nice upgrade, but it's not going to make as much of a difference as 8GB single channel to 16GB dual channel

16gb is the bare minimum in 2024, 32 is recommended If you go with 16, it's fine and itll work, but expect a compromised user experience throughout the lifespan of the device. I'd put 32 in if you can afford it
