But no, B770 and B970 either won't happen, won't be cheap, or have high volume. B580 is 272mm2, take 20+ more and you have 4070 SUPER. You think Intel can compete with that? They're barely surviving as a division. Nobody is going to give you cheap GPU if it's not profitable for them in some way... enjoy while Intel is still willing to lose money in attempt to enter the market.

Daniel Owen reported driver consistency is still a thing, although Intel fixed several of his games he was having issues with. It's still a work in progress across a wide range of games. TPU shows it's not much faster than 4060 overall. More VRAM, lower price at higher power draw. Hopefully the B770 delay won't be much longer

Yeah with how expensive GPUs have become its ridiculous that we haven't seen a price performance increase in the laser 4 years. Finally, we are seeing some movement with the Intel release. I feel it isn't enough though. Considering next gen midrange will be as fast as the 7900xt. And budget will get closer to a 4070 for close to 300 bucks. So Intel really needs to step it up when those nvidia and amd comes out with their next gen GPU. If Intel hadn't screw up so badly with their CPUs, now they worse product product money can buy.

@@oneanother1 I'll disagree on that one, anything that's neck to neck comparable to a 4060 should be a mid range GPU, and considering the fact that people still order RTX 3060 12GB over the 4060, it's clearly better than the GPU's most people have. Yeah it seems much more likely than not that Battlemage is the last generation of discrete graphics cards Intel ever makes. It could probably be continued as an integrated GPU thing but I highly doubt the new CEOs and shareholders would be anywhere near patient enough to tolerate this. Intel has been losing money for many years now, they are spread far too thin. They are still years behind Nvidia and even AMD in most areas and I'm not sure if that will ever change. It sucks but Intel is going to abandon Arc sooner rather than later.

Nvidia and AMD will start with high-end in Q1 so we can expect some competition in this segment not sooner than Q2 of 2025. 12GB with good raster, good RT, good upscale for $250 - yes this is something that this market needs badly which is solid and real competition. If AMD and Nvidia will again offer 8GB for $300+ this will be laughable.

But you can find fine examples of those cards on Ebay provided by the most caring of people who were courteous to save a space for you in line that will cost ye small extra fee between 1.5x - 2x the manufacturers msrp. Intel did a good job here but they needed to launch this 12-18 months ago, so these cards could actually compete with the current generation. New gen cards are coming soon and they have the potential to crap all over this. Nvidia probably won't have a GPU below $300 but AMD almost certainly will. The only way Intel gets a win here is if both Nvidia and AMD give their budget cards 8GB VRAM again or if they make them way to expensive again. Intel did much better here than Alchemist which was DOA, but they are still years behind Nvidia and even AMD. I highly doubt the new CEOs will be patient enough to have Arc lose millions of dollars every year just for a few percent of market share. Intel has been floundering for several years and it's only a matter of time before they need to shut down Arc to slow down the bleeding.

@MrTrailerus Can Nvidia afford to lose money on GPUs? Absolutely, they have AI and datacenter stuff to keep them afloat, however they're greedy and dominate the market so they can charge as much as they want. Can AMD afford to lose money on GPUs? Probably, they have a strong CPU lineup for consumer and especially server use to keep them afloat. Their GPUs are usually cheaper to manufacture than Nvidia and Intel anyway so they won't lose much on stuff that isn't old RDNA 2 stock from 4 years ago way below MSRP at this point. Can Intel afford to lose money on GPUs? Not at all, the reputation of their CPUs have taken a massive hit over the last couple years and they allowed Ryzen to not only match them but often surpass them. Not to mention Intel has already shut down some of their side gigs like Optane due to them hemorraging money. Intel is firmly on the struggle bus and I don't see them quickly improving any time soon.

One thing people talking about the die size dont take into account, the transistor density. B580 even though it's rather large it has just slightly higher amount of transistors as the RTX 4060, for slightly higher performance. Intel deliberately chose to design this GPU with a lower transistor density than Nvidia, they could have gone for a smaller denser die, so they probably took it into account for the economics of the design.

I remember the launch of Nvidia's 30 series that promised lower pricing than the 20 series and day of the launch no one could get a card except see loads of them being offered on Ebay for 2x the MSRP. Depends where you are. In some countries people go crazy with mining so distributor in those region end up playing the scalper game. Consortium level miner even doing direct deal with AIB and get their card straight from factory in china flown overnight to their farm with rental airplane. Lucky for me in my country people are not really crazy for mining nor do people line up in front of stores to get their gpu (they do that for iphone though haha). So i was able to get my 3060Ti at launch with my country MSRP price.

It consumes three times as much power in "idle" as a 4060 or a 7600... ​@@adal7758did you watch the same video as everyone else? 4060 8gb: Beaten 90% of the time 7600 8gb: BURIED 90% of the time. 12gb Vram so can play 1440p at high settings whereas the 4060 and 4060ti fall flat on their face unless you buy the 16gb models of either the 7600 or 4060ti which destroys their value proposition. 4060TI 16gb: 490 Euro (a bit faster) 7600 XT 16gb: 345 euro (a bit slower, terrible RT Performance) B580 12gb: 320 Euro (cheaper than both) Absolute no brainer.

I got 6650xt 2y ago (12/23), it was 280USD +VAT here but it was already available ať 249USD.👉 To be fair, that 30 percent uplift for same price and even decent memory bonus is expected after 2 years - from all gpu makers. Indiana jones on 8gb gpus is brutal, early areas you will be fine using medium textures pool, medium shadows etc, but once you reach Gizeh, things started to nosedive with textures sometimes not properly loaded, had to turn down shadows and textures pool down to low which give me another issue which is textures pop in, so yeah with B580 i hope Nvidia and AMD get the memo, 8gb for 2025 is dead on arrival..

Back then those 5700XT have those black screen or game crashing issues making people go to nvidia even if they were much more expensive.

If you want Battlemage, then just get it. It's going to be a while like March or April before Nvidia or AMD releases the "low end". AMD always waits for Nvidia to release first so they can price their product slightly less than Nvidia. Who knows when Nvidia will release. At $250, it's hard to go wrong. Most budget gamers can't get the cards anyway they're sold out across all makes of the B580 but you know what I was seeing on Ebay the night before the official launch. Listings for B580s from scalpers pricing them close to 4060TI MSRP. I was refreshing newegg's website hoping it was just a joke seeing "Sold out" and this being an hour before midnight Dec 12th 11pm. Apparently they were all snatched up on pre-orders. I swear scalpers are a stain upon the globe.

AMD has done the bare minimum to compete in their recent generation launches. AMD had the $900 MSRP RX 7900 XT to upsell customers to the $1000 RX 7900 XTX. AMD slots right into NVIDIA's pricing structure with small price cuts. In January 2025, AMD's RDNA IV might be more aggressive, but Intel beat them to the punch with Battlemage's $250-$270 B580. Intel did what AMD could not, which is launch ahead of NVIDIA.

Sounds like a decent GPU ngl, but the thing is... Taxes... In Europe is going to be probably on the 300€ territory, it would be an ok price if it was released at the same time as the rtx 4060/rx 7600, but now 1 year and a half later... It's about 250 gbp in the UK if you can find one. Absolute steal of a graphics card for that money. Scalpers appear to have bought most of them though, already reselling them at 50 more than RRP. 😑 Not Intel's fault though, was always going to happen. Edit just to say: Nvidia will do one of two things, either ship the 5060 with 8gb of ram and it will be dead in the water, or ship it with 12 and it will be 450 euros, with the performance of the B850.

Battlemage has the best RT performance, as in loses the last amount of FPS when running RT compared to the current GPUs, techpowerup has detailed benchmarks.

technically, they did say it would compete with the 4060 and the 7600, not the fancier versions, so some "disappointing" games should be expected and besides, knowing intel, they are working their asses off to make sure drivers work better with the games that perform worse. it only makes sense judging what happened with ark.
