I've been so unhappy with the Nikon z6ii focusing and would like to consider the XF...if it's better. I would want to pair it with the 35-150 lens for weddings. Is it doable? Taylor you mentioned grip....

In 2024 I definitely want to trade my a7iii to take the a7IV, as couple month ago I bought the a6400, so now I have a double setup to work with prime lens (35mm and 50 1.8 sony) and the big boy (24-105 g). After then I just want to shoot different wedding to became better at shooting and capturing the moment. A good wish too is to find my style, I love the analog mood and I want to edit everything in this style (photo and video). Thansks Tylor for inspiring me

Hello, Im looking to get the A7 III, but my mom put in my head to check Canon out, I would like to get a good budget camera tbh because Im starting my own business, all the cameras Ive used before were loaners (Nikon. Canon). I adapted to Canon well, but was reading that for low lighting Sony steals the spot. So thats a plus but the a7III though lower priced is technically a little older so Im afraid in a year it wont be good. Mind you the market I work with are people who dont want to pay more than 1K on a wedding or all day event so I dont want to spend a lot on equipment for a market that just wants a low budget photographer (later in the future for sure if all goes well). Input, please?

@@TaylorJacksonPhoto The over heating issue. I was ok with pause restart around the 20 minute mark to circumvent the 30 limit. But ran into an over heating issue on location. Ugh painful and lesson learned, only thing that saved me was audio was saved on the dji and tascam while i waiting for the camera to cool down. My goal is to transition to more of a hybrid shooter. Looking forward to your courses. Haven’t had an over heat issue with the Ninja V yet. I’m also running a the Dji wireless mic’s and a MKE400 on camera.

I’ve been a designer for almost 30 years. Only the last 4 years did I take up photography. I had an unforeseen shoot today, of a wedding, because the photographer fell through. Simple outdoor, small wedding. I shot everything on my Nikon Z5 with older Nikon lenses and natural light in a canopy of palm trees. With all the chasing of specs, all I can say is the photos turned out amazing. I captured emotion. The couple is beyond grateful. Sometimes we want to overcomplicate things, people.

Curious - I use an a7iii Sony and have the Samyang 85mm 1.4 MKII and you say you love the gen 1 for the canon but don’t mention it for Sony. I assume that’s a lens you recommend for Sony as well?

Yah it’s good for Sony as well. Canon just doesn’t have any other f1.4 85mm lenses, where as I usually use the 85 1.4 GM for Sony

Hi Taylor. Thanks for this no nonsense video about gear. Awesome. I don't shoot weddings unless I do it as a gift to friends. If I shot weddings with a Fujifilm camera, I would want a cross between the X-T5 and the X-H2 so that I can use a battery grip. Thoughts? About the Nikon ZF, you feel comfortable using only one card slot?

Zf has 2 slots. Yah either the xh2 or s or xt5 are great. Really enjoy the experience with both of those cameras

2 slots, BUT. One SD card slot, UHS-II, and a second micro SD slot, UHS-I. Not sure I'd feel I'd be comfortable with that. You are?

If you already have f mount lenses and will run the adapter, the zf (or the z8 if the lenses are heavier ) would probably be my choice rather than going on a full new system

If you're like me, and you shoot images with one hand here and there throughout the day, especially during the reception trying to shoot over and around people, I'd wait for the Z6 III at this point. It'll be smaller and lighter than the Z8, which will make one-handed shots easier on your wrists and arms. ...but you'll want the bigger grip of the Z6 III body over the ZF for a secure grip, and the performance will likely be somewhere between the ZF and the Z8 for about the same price as the ZF. You'll love the auto-on rear display, flipping out the screen, and holding the camera over your head, and nailing your shots without guessing. That's a game changer coming from an OVF of the D750 to Mirrorless. Your creativity will go through the roof.

I recently sold all my canon gears and switched to fuji system: two xt5 and an xpro2. All new prime lenses from fuji and theyre sharp af. I just got tired of the FF weight with the pro lenses and i also not enjoy shooting with canon anymore. Fuji is just fun and it is really possible to shoot weddings with a right lenses with crop cameras. I know DR is not forgiving but i learn to shoot a proper exposure with film so fuji works for me. With shooting 20-30 weddings a year, a fulltime dayjob and a growing family, fuji suits all my need as a wedding photographer for 8years now.

The a7cii is a superb camera though I know a lot of wedding shooters flinch because it has only one sd slot. Kind of like an old school film camera. 😉😉😂😂

All cameras are great today, i like Nikon files the most, but for me ergonomics are the first and most important aspect. So, Canon or Panasonic for me. With the other brands the index finger dial, the front dial, makes me rub the index finger with my mid finger and causes problem to grip the camera in a firm and relaxed way. Canon have the dial behind the shutter, so problem solved. And Panasonic have the front dial around the shutter (S5II line) or on a clear separated step ovet the mid finger (S1 line).

You say that the z 50 1.2 is too heavy (and maybe too forward weighted) to be ergonomically comfortable with the Zf, even with the add-on grip. But you also say that the availability of the Tamron 35-150 for Nikon, as an all-day wedding lens, is a real plus for Nikon. My obvious question is around the fact that the Tamron 35-150 is heavier still than the z 50 1.2 with maybe even more forward weight. So, are you saying that the Tamron is great but only for a bigger, heavier body than the Zf (Z8?), or am I missing your point. I am in the middle of considering the Zf and, separately, the Tamron zoom for event / wedding photography, so this issue is on point for me. As always, I appreciate your observations and entertaining style.

in another youtube Taylor acknowledges the weight would be unbalanced with this camera. I tried it and found it way too heavy. (And after trying Zf for awhile I found the camera's ergonomics, which many acknowledge as not great, to be irritating to have in hand for hours at a time. So I moved over to S5 II which has wonderful ergos for my hand. So Zf is great in many ways but I won't be using it for events.)

@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I've been shooting with Sony since the A6000-A6600 and the A73, A74 and a7c. A7c was the only camera I kept with the 85mm f1.8, I just got tired of them, they weren't fun to use anymore. I had a Fuji X100s that I loved the images that came out of it. The X-T3&5's feel so great in the hands and are making it fun again, after 30 years (in April 2924) of shooting weddings. Much smaller and cheaper lenses. I hardly ever shoot in RAW anymore because of the film simulations.

Why isn't camera tech as good as cell phones? Let me explain. If you used a cell phones processors, SSD' hard drives, a sim card, and a cell phones screen you'd have a pretty decent set of features on a camera. With a sim slot you could upload photos to the internet, live stream and play games on your camera. Why, why, why is this technology not applied to cameras and kept only for phones?? We are getting screwed that's why.....!!!!!
