As opinions go. If I had a decent amount of money to buy a van ,not being greedy my fave would be a 2018 lunar clubman si. To me it's the perfect 4 berth for a couple with an island bed with alde heating . I love the van totally ❤. Cheers Mark and your missus for the great channel,reviews etc.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the vid. Really smart caravan & whacky graphics 👍 Last Summer it was actually on my short list when i purchased a new lightweight van. The only thing that put me off was the lack of conventional storage. Just couldn't live with having to stick stuff on view under the front bunk & in those orange carrier bags in the lockers... 😕

I think in my opinion , really as a light weight van it has one negative. This is possibly because I'm late 50's and the missus is retiring next year . It's a minor one. It's the upper storage cabinets with some being wood and those horrible material pull out storage. I know everyone has different taste. The graphics are modern . Ourselves we have a 2006 swift challenger 530. I prefer the conventional caravan. I guess I'm old school. Cheers Mark for the amazing videos and helpful hints.

Hi there Mark! Thank you for the video. I do share your love for these caravans! I feel you 😊 Here in Germany they’re sold under the brand name SPRITE. My favourite is the Basecamp 6, the 6 berth version. Unfortunately they discontinued it, probably because it was too expensive.
@thecaravanplace Жыл бұрын
I think the 2 is over 30k euros if I remember correctly.
@TomFynnVideos Жыл бұрын
Actually it’s around 25k here. The 6 berth was supposed to cost around 30k

Hi I mark. We used to have one of these. If I remember correctly look behind where the paperwork folder is currently in the van and there should be 2 USB points in the wee cubby hole. Steven.

Quite like them too, but where do you keep your bedding during the day?
@thecaravanplace Жыл бұрын
Stuffed in the wardrobe for me, but very much a sleeping bag, I feel for me it's a very posh tent and that proper camping and adventure feel.

Mark, does the 109kg ontop of the leisure battery and gas?
@thecaravanplace Жыл бұрын
It's usually is empty weight including gas bottle, step, mains lead and battery, so you should have a full 109kg loading.

I looked in to these as I needed a light weight van but the reviews about damp issues and other gremlins put me off. Ended up with a 304 in the end and couldn't be happier it feels a much more cozy caravan, basecamps I think after a few days would start to knark you gave how basic they are.

As a matter of interest, which would you prefer, the new Discovery D4-4 at £21500 or the Basecamp 4 at £25500?
@thecaravanplace Жыл бұрын
Depends how you are going to use it. If you want to go more off grid, nc500, tour Europe stopping at the beach etc then the basecamp, if more traditional site and tow the front room then the discovery. Hope that makes sense lol.

We’ve own a Basecamp. Had it for nearly two years now and use it all year round. It’s perfect for our outdoor lifestyle. It’s quirky but very practical. It’s not a premium finished van but is a functional, comfortable camper. It’s our first caravan and from complete newbies I wouldn’t hesitate to take the Basecamp anywhere nowadays. It’s great for the really isolated sites I like to visit too. I have over 30 videos on the Basecamp on my channel. See the playlist here:- kzbin.info/aero/PLKjIYtIJIqNFLajfd2d-KM6CDVaRJsKYR

Why would you take the refillable gas bottles off a van that they came with.!This is one of the reasons the public don't trust dealers. Would you also remove motor movers if fitted. , funky is not a selling point and if you folded up both sofas you can guess that people will fill this space not with canoes or bikes but with what matters to them and then they would be definitely over weight. And the wheel lock and alco hitch lock that came with the van will stay with it, unlike the gas flo at the beginning. I point this out because some buyers won't be aware of the tricks dealers pull to get that little bit more profit. And the pump on any caravan or motor home shower would not run 2 showers, so again not a selling point .
@thecaravanplace Жыл бұрын
Sometimes when we buy a caravan, we pay more for extras, if its not going to add value to the caravan, then we will remove them. The hitch lock and wheel lock were not originally supplied with the caravan, but we purchased including these so they will stay included. Same goes with motormovers, we do actually pay more if a caravan has a motormover, but this does add the value onto the sale price so we always leave them on and will be priced with the mover. I do however know exactly where you are coming from, and some dealers do strip every last thing. We sometimes remove water and waste containers, if you are part exchanging you wouldn't really need these, but a first timer will, so we can then give a starter pack to first timers who need it. Thanks for your comments 👍

I love the concept of the Basecamps, great for adventurers. But they've got the price point completely wrong! It's lightweight and minimal but is more expensive than a more luxury van. I would buy one, but it's overpriced.

I have to say for £7000 them may be but the payload is way to low so bikes and kit are just not an option but the price or should I say PRICE OMG no sorry far far better caravans for that money I would buy a trailer tent or a camplet before these but I would imagine they would have a cult following like the ebra and that is a caravan I would buy. I have a Hymer 590gl caravan right now and love it.

I too like the Basecamp, but sort of feel that it is lacking in the full execution of its concept. The new Basecamp 3 is a welcome addition, but there is something about the way that they have done the front bed that leaves me with the impression that the designer couldn't be bothered and just submitted the first thing that came to mind. Not deal breakers, but niggly things that make me hesitant. The rat's nest of wiring hidden in the base of the wardrobe is however something that greatly bothers me. It just screams shoddy workmanship and I've seen self-build trailers and campervans that have done a far more professional and tidy a job than Swift. On a far lighter note, Mark, what is this new obsession you seem to have with nudist camps and getting naked and what secret magic does the Basecamp have that it encourages you in this way 🤣?
@thecaravanplace Жыл бұрын
It's that outside shower, wash the dog yea right, I know exactly what that's for 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The idea of lifting the seats to give the “adventurer” to carry his bike etc is great but with such a small user payload it is pointless. Better to buy a more traditional small van
