Someone told me once: "You will never make any real money working for someone else." Why would you? They hire you to make money for them, not for yourself. This is what I like about Cappy. No bullshit, straight to the heart of the matter.

I don't post often. This is one of the most honest and straight forward video's on YT. Clarey is spot on. On MBA's: Many of the MBA's I've worked with or who have been my manager are average at best and many have had poor real world business acumen-most of them had ZERO leadership skills. The CEO of the mid-size financial company I worked for (I was in Treasury) back in 2007 was an MBA and when our department warned him (with real data) and his circle of MBA's about the impending collapse of the housing market, his response was to ostracize our department. The company failed and we all lost our jobs. I started my own little gig and it got me through some tough times. When it comes to your own employment, there is only one person that you can rely upon--YOU.

A couple of times a year, I get into a slum. As a recent graduate with a degree in engineering dealing with the reality of looking for work while working fulltime as a tutor, it can be easy to feel shitty or even sorry for myself that Im not doing what I have worked my ass off for. Thats when I know I need some advice and a little dose of realism from this guy. I like to have an attitudr thats leads to a course of action, not whining, so Im thankfull for this. Hey Aaron, I dont always agree with what you say, most things I do, but regardless I just want to say this video made my day a notch better. Hell I even went for a jog while a listened. Cheers.

Junior college is the best kept secret! Many times, you can check out the textbook and make copies. But they're catching on to this by MAKING YOU BUY THE E BOOK, so the lazy teachers won't have to grade papers due to electronic submission/grading. But, it's still a good deal compared to grad school.

Yep very true. So glad while I was in the military getting that officer pay. And on the side I was building up that $12k /month income... sometimes it felt weird that my passive side income pays more than that important defense job I was doing.

My advice: Never get a degree in business and never work in a business management, business sales marketing, human resources, financial management/ analysis, corporate accounting, any business technical field of study, etc. If I had to do it all over again, I would have studied electrical engineering or mechanical engineering or both. Perhaps, staying in the trades would have been better.
@wongyu984711 жыл бұрын
FromBoomTown I majored in operations management, business management, and human resources management. I also have enough units for a minor in economics, but my university business college did not allow business students to earn business related minors. I should have earned an Engineering degree, then an MBA - like almost everyone else in upper management. Oh yeah, I will go back to university in the future to earn a MBA concentrating in operations management and finance to stay competitive. In modern US businesses people need alphabet soup on their resumes to trump others with alphabet soup. He/ she with the most degrees, certificates, and cool job titles will win the employment race. In for a penny in for a pound - damned the sunk costs, especially when the company will pay. Truly crazy, Aaron Clarey would not approve. Haha :-)

As the token boomer here I have to admit how aggravating it is that so few boomers grasp the use of cut and paste. Closer to the Redmond Corporate Campus (I worked there 3 interesting and educational years) you find more who do. Originally Microsoft used WP's CTL-Ins and Shift-Ins but either due to a lawsuit or just to be different changed it to the CTL-C and V. WP's makes more sense but unfortunately some of the newer Windows apps don't recognize them. Digressions aside, good advice.

Started my company, The Acid Drip LLC. I make shirts posters graphics logos. How ever it is also a title company holds my IP. Working on a patent, saving the money for the application by working in the public schools. Getting a master's and two teachers credentials (effectively getting 3 degrees at once) while working 2 jobs. I have a 3.9 GPA. My credentials are in O&M (orientation and mobility, which is teaching blind people how to use a white cane) and TVI (Teacher for the visually impaired, which is teaching braille for reading and nemeth code for math to blind people). My masters is in Special Education, I help rehabilitate people with CP (I do water rehab and teach them to walk in a pool). I also work with Downs Syndrome and ASD (autism/Asperger's) and I teach them how to work a job at a retail store of their choice in addition to life skills (cooking, saving money and travel training like riding and navigating public transit). Unmarried. No kids. Live at home with my folks rent free. And I'm 31 years old. All the women I meet think I work too much and that I'm boring. They also expect me to shower them with money when everything I earn basically goes straight into the business. They say burn the candle from both ends, well I cut that son of a bitch in half and I burn both halves of the candle from both ends!
