I truly give you credit for being honest and showing the little "oopsie" when your bit when through the surround. You could have edited that out and nobody would have ever known. This is also good to show to remind us how easy it can happen if your not conscious and careful when screwing these things down. I had to climb in through my trunk and rear seat (folded down) when I was younger because I locked my keys in the car and it was the easiest way to get into it. I should have pulled my sub box out completely, but i didnt, I just turned it sideways and started climbing. My knee went through the center cap and broke it. I ran those MA audio 12's (I believe they were 600 rms) for the next 7 or so yrs no prob, after several yrs previously transferring from car to car I owned at the time. (These subs were run hard before being given to me). I was given those subs somewhere around 1998-2000 and ran them 10+yrs on whatever amp I had at the time, lastly an Alpine mono block (cant remember the model, I believe it was an MR series, like 300-400watt or something) and both the amp and the subs still live in my garage today. They both still worked when I retired them about 4 yrs ago. Goes to show how well these subs were built, and how well that little mono amp was built. I could bring them back to life now if I had the trunk space and a proper box for them.

I recently bought a living room subwoofer (with enclosure) but changed the driver out with one from a broken JBL unit. I also added the stuffing from the jbl into the enclosure. It's a lot less sensitive but also less boomy now, and I can actually tune the volume in better The amp is supposedly W RMS/ 400W peak. The driver I took out looks a lot like that SSL one. I'm thinking to make a sealed enclosure to fit into the boot of my new car with that driver and use the EQ on the head unit to reduce the low frequencies going to the door mounted speakers. Got an old Clarion amp that got enough power, built in LPF and gain. I think that should work to get some bass going

Something has been bugging me for a while. I have a question that isn't relevant to this particular video but is relevant to the audio world. If Spotify and KZbin keeps music at or below -14dB, should we use a -10dB test tone to set our amplifier gain. Wouldn't that still provide at least 4 dB of headroom while allowing you to access more power from your amplifier/speaker combo? Or am i missing something?

I bought 4 Audiopipe APMB-6800-C 6x8’s for my F-150 about 3 years ago. I was going to use them as component components with crossovers and tweets. After I spent 40 or so hours installing sound deadening. It blew a head gasket. Anyway, I am thinking about using these 6x8’s in my home surround system. I have two 12’s as subwoofers and 2 DIY cabinets with 6in mids and 3.5in tweets. It’s missing a lot of the 200hz to 1khz or mid bass. I already have 2 way and 3 way crossovers sitting around. These particular 6x8’s are heavy for what they are. They’re rated 125w RMS and most importantly are 8ohm speakers. Do you think they would sound good in a home system? The oval shape has me wondering if I should turn one horizontal and one vertical (since I have 4) in each cabinet or is that stupid? I’m just really missing the heavy rhythm in rock and roll. I was going to buy a couple Dayton 8 inch pro mid bass speakers but I have these 6x8’s and they are supposed to be for this range. Any advice would be appreciated. Don’t bother sugar coating it. The smaller size subs being the better performers than their larger counterparts. That's generally true for any brand of entry level subwoofers. Thanks for the video, as this is good knowledge for the rest of us on a not so big budget regretfully. I have this sub in my house running off a 2.1 amp and it kicks. You should get it and do a review on it. Infinity Primus 1270B - Sealed slim enclosure with 12" (300mm) subwoofer

I have buddy who plays in a band called..."Max Power". No idea if they smoke their PA subwoofers on a regular basis though. 😛

Can I hook a 4 ohm speaker to a 8 ohm amp?

No.

There's a new 12in Hifonics dual voice coil 4-ohm that looks very professional they actually made it a very deep traveling sub compared to most Subs but they want 359 for it right now.. I found the subwoofer at Marden's but I cannot find the subwoofer online

Cool.

Power rating for "Max Power" isn't based on magnet size. Its how much power the coil will handle for a few milliseconds before its comprised.

this is exactly why I came into the comment section, to see if anyone had pointed this out :)

The Hifonics suck. I had one and barely pushed any power to it, and it didn't make it through 2 songs before it blew at low volume

The Belva subs are damn near perfect for Infinite Baffle loading. They're REALLY good subs all things considered.
@paulcampbell8696 Жыл бұрын
That's good to know. I always need good infinite baffle drivers for bars and restaurants I take care of.

@@paulcampbell8696 I’d kill to hear a full room system using Belva subs in IB. That would be amazing.

Any sub can be overpowered, I'd like to see the subs tested "fairly" at rms rating since your smd meter shows rms power that is being fed to the subs.
@DIYAudioGuy11 ай бұрын
To bad most of these cheap subs don't provide a realistic RMS rating.
