A great review and honest appraisal of the car. I had an M4 and I sold it a year later as it was no good for daily duties with its suspension, and dead off0center steering feel. This sounds like a better daily

My first experience with an i8 was I couldn't believe it had a 1.6 litre engine but yet it pulled reminding me of 2016 rs3( it's that shocking)plus it sounds amazing too and has a nice interior kinda m4 style with different seats smh worth every penny of the 30k they valued at nowdays tho considering at one point they was going for 100,000k what I feel is a touch on the expensive side(Aston Martin money) anyway top review fella very accurate welldone👍🏾

I had the coupe and then the cabriolet, a far better car than I expected, the back seats are not as bad as you may think, cheap to run, stunning and I struggled to find another car in the process range to buy hence why I have had 2. I highly recommend if you are thinking of one you need to go drive one and you will be positively surprised. It is fast enough

If I could plug one in, I'd have seriously considered one of these. The doors being unusable in a car park would be a worry though. Also, I'd probably want a little more aural drama, but otherwise I reckon it'd have been a top 3 choice. By the time my flat ever gets a charging point, I imagine these will all be well past their battery shelf life. I would be very happy if BMW built another car like this though, a fancy-looking GT that sips fuel on long runs would be perfect. Also, love the idea of having a collab with a dealer, more JB reviews! My car still isn't ready to offer up for that sadly...lazily haven't sorted the tyres but also the driver's massage seat may have broken (kind of, just a loose connection of some sort) so those are both jobs for next month I think!

I have loved your videos, very on point that relates to the normal kind of guys. But this is a good idea, a bit longer with more detail on one car. A bit like Doug. Looking and detailing on the inside, the place a driver spends all the time in would be helpful. kind of like Doug's quirks and features. I know it might be more work, but keep your other videos as well.

LOL! - the algorithm brought me here!. Tbf, I often watch JB's videos, but I just had to watch this one........because........I own one of these! 😁😁 You did a great review JB, and at the 4:00 mark you had me in stitches, watching you get out of the car! 🤣🤣 I am thinking that when people do reviews on these and seem to look like Victor Meldrew getting in and out that they must do it on purpose!?. How old are you JB if you don't mind me asking? I would say 25?. Probably about 6'3 ?. There doesn't look to be any meat on you in the gut department. Well, when I watched you get in and out of the car, I thought you looked older than I am! 🤣🤣 I'm 53, 6 foot tall and weigh 15.5 stone so there's no hiding the fact that I've got a "sugar gut", yet I can get in and out of this like a regular car!. There is a knack to it, but it's really not that bad: Drivers side: 1) you place your right hand on the corner of the door card while you stride your left leg into the cabin, holding the door maintains your balance until you got your leg in. 2) from there you swing your body weight across to your left, moving your arse across to the seat - no sitting on the door sill ledge and falling in and swivelling your arse is required, that will eventually damage the seat. 3) once you've got your arse in the cabin, you simply raise your right leg from the ground over the sill and in to the cabin To exit the drivers side you: 1) put your right leg out of the vehicle, foot on ground 2) lean your body forward and tilt towards the exit, resting your right elbow on the sill 3) place your left hand at 2'o'clock position on the steering wheel and using your right elbow for support and left hand on wheel for leverage, you pull yourself upwards and out of the vehicle Entry and exit in this fashion means you can enter and exit with dignity and even if your a fat tw@t like me, you still look cool and like the car was made for you. There is a bit more of a knack to the passenger side, you enter the same way you would as if you were entering the drivers side, HOWEVER, when exiting you don't have a steering wheel for leverage, so what I've found is: You have to lean forward and tilt towards the exit of the vehicle and use your right elbow on the windscreen pillar to lever yourself out. It looks a little less dignified but there is a punchline........ I'm never a passenger 🤣🤣

You need to own one for a few years to fully understand the risk of what these cars could do to your wallet.
@stephenjohnhurlow97383 ай бұрын
Do you have any experience of what this car could do to your wallet? It's run on batteries and a turbo charged mini engine. According to owners, for these reasons, it's cheap to service.
@PatsGarageOnline3 ай бұрын
@@stephenjohnhurlow9738 I spent years talking about the risks of owning an i8. Expensive problems that have cropped up: undetectable coolant leak causes engine to overheat without warning costing 20k, A/C compressor implodes sending shrapnel thru the cooling lines requiring battery removal and a complete system replacement for $14k, the EME (electric brains) of the hybrid system failing requiring the entire front suspension to be removed and front frame to be lowered out of the car just to replace it for $18k. The car was not engineered correctly. Maintenance costs are cheap, repair costs will require weeks or months to complete while you pay the car note, insurance and empty your bank account of money you never thought you would need to pay.

@@PatsGarageOnlinewould you recommend the newer models such as a 2019 or 2020 with warranty?
@PatsGarageOnline3 ай бұрын
@@astrotrippy7366 anything under BMW warranty is ok. 3rd party warranty companies are not covering all of the costs. All i8s use the same parts that are prone to fail. No part that had expensive issues was ever improved, so after time, you can expect the same risk

Good question - I had no trouble in it personally both times I’ve driven one, it’s not an exceptionally low car. Went over some pretty sharp speed bumps on the way in/out of a golf course and the car didn’t scrape, and on normal speed bumps it was fine too, but then I was also being quite careful in it anyway as I always am with cars I’m trusted with!
