When I was around 8 years old I used to go to a family owned Mexican grocery store with my grandpa on weekends when he would buy meat and sides for Sunday grilling and there was a little corner of the store where an old lady used to come by once a week to make in house salsa with home grown tomatoes/peppers and in house made tortilla chips.. I have never tasted salsa that delicious and pure in my life ever again. There was definitely more in there but I was so obsessed with it my grandpa would always buy a second tub from her every time she would come around to make some.

I doubt all those chips with sunflower oil are expeller pressed - which is a much more expensive process. Most sunflower oil is solvent expelled, a much cheaper process, which results in a less healthy oil in terms of the essential fatty acid content, and its then refined with high heat.

Something to consider with Xanthan Gum - this is an additive to thicken drilling muds used to drill oil wells. As usual, you are not mentioning the sodium levels for any of these things. I’ve tried that Trader Joe’s Double Roasted. It’s good. Sodium count is not bad. I looked up the Frontera, it was about 187. I was at Whole Foods today and found a salsa called Localfolks Foods that was “Bobby Approve” and only had 55 sodium. I combined that with some "Bobby Approved" Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips with No Salt, and it works pretty well. The chips are not that thick, so scooping up salsa is a little problematic. But a suggestion like this for sodium watchers would be good. I’m going to guess that since this video is 3 yeas old, that Localfolks Foods didn’t exits back then. Wait, no, they did, since 2004. Maybe Whole Foods just recently started carrying them.

@Diana Moore You’re allowed to use your own brain and make up your own mind about what is okay and what isn’t. I agree with Bobby in most things, but Teflon is really only a danger if you cook at too high a temp or use it after it begins to degrade - they are meant to be short term pans, not a lifelong investment. And he has the weird notion that microwaves kill nutrients in foods which has been disproven countless times. In fact, microwaving food can actually help retain nutrients in foods because of shortened cooking times and less (or no) water to leach the nutrients out.
