Hey! I'm 35 and I do like The Hobbit and Harry Potter books. Furthermore, i'd like to suggest an amazing one; The kingkiller Chronicles. If anyone likes Potter, Tolkien, G.R.R.Martin and so on I dare to say they will like this as well.

These are great! I’m putting almost every so far in my possible reading list. My biggest concern though: I am 11, and I’m wondering if the books for 13-14 etc are inappropriate? Or is it just the reading level. I really loved pride and prejudice and Anne of green gables, and I like how they didn’t have any inappropriate content.

If you can read those books, you'll be able to read anything written in English post 1700.

I don't know 'Citizen of the Galaxy' but 'Black Beauty' is a great suggestion.
@psikeyhackr69145 ай бұрын
@@engvidBenjamin It would be really interesting if Karl Marx had read and written a review of *Black Beauty* . Much of the cruelty to animals was the result of economic cruelty to humans. *Citizen of the Galaxy* provides a broader perspective and a greater range of discussion.

What about beginners, what should they read? What should they start with?
@engvidBenjamin4 жыл бұрын
It's difficult to say - the school where I teach has a reading programme and measures students' reading levels which then guides them as to which books they can read. If you're a beginner, a graphic novel might be a good starting place.
@nadiasubotiak23943 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about 1984. Perhaps "Brave new world" would be more suitable. I think it's such a philosophical novel that a 13 year old might not appreciate it in its whole. The same about "old man and the sea". Not so sure hahah

@@engvidBenjamin mine too. And that's why I'm doubtful about making my 13 year old read them now... The idea of love in 1984 might exceed him. And the fight against death ... Perhaps I overthink it hahahah
