I almost lost my career in flying. I was working for a company where my job was at a dead end, my health was deteriorating, and the COVID pandemic which forced me to face some of harshest working conditions almost made me switch careers entirely. A bit of determination and a lot of luck got me back in the cockpit of an airliner and for a different company, where for the first time in many years, I would consider myself happy. Took a lot of work, failures, tears, motivation, and a great heap of luck. For those who are looking for motivation, whether you are a pilot, student, or just some regular person, just remember to not give up on yourself.

When i finish school in 2 years time, i want to go to university to study aeronautical engineering, then find a job and work for like 5 years to save up. Then i would want to start my flight training. So it could take as much as 10 years from now to become a pilot but reaching such a milestone is such an achievement, especially coming from immigrated parents and a family who can only afford to fly every 3 or 4 years. This is a really inspirational video, I knew i wanted to be a pilot since i was a small kid but i came from a poor family and we moved to canada and my dad wanted me to become an engineer and i couldnt say no to him even though i knew where my true passion lied, i was always looking up. Years passed i graduated and became an engineer worked for 4 years saved money but i never felt satisfied i never felt happy and then last place i worked was near an airport and i would watch planes fly in and out every 3 minutes and i wanted to be up there but i was stuck to the ground thats when i decided to just go for it make my dream a reality. At the start my family was against it they were mad at me they said just do it as a hobby because it will take time to become a pilot and i will not make as much as i was making when i was an engineer but i never really cared about the money and i pushed back and started going to a flight school and 1 year later i have my PPL, Night Rating, doing CPL ..etc. What im trying to say is you will have people (even family) who might not understand why you would give up a life with money to persue flying but just follow your heart it really does know what u love to do, dont look at the money if u know you love to fly just go for it, Just believe in yourself.

@@kripz5232 Im glad you liked my story, this is what my aviation journey has been so far: after i finished my flight school i got an interview with a pipeline patrol company and they had turned me down i was quite sad but i kept going for it and i had just applied to a whole bunch of places and i got a call back from Buffalo Airways up in Yellowknife where i worked the ramp and it was hard work but they fly WW2 airplanes such as the DC3 (some of them are the same planes from D-day in WW2!!) the C46 Commando, and the mighty Lockehead L188 electra so i was always amazed to see them and didn't find it all that hard but the winter was brutal! -55 Degrees and the wind just felt like your nose would fall off. I was offered to fly the King Air 100/A100 for them and i did that for about a year or so accumulating some time on multi-engine and turbine time. The pandemic really changed everyone and it affected alot of people and alot of people got layed off and i was no exception. I spend the time at home with my family, i went back to my flight school and i flew a couple hours every week on the C172 to keep current and make sure my flying skills remained decent. After a year and alot of applying and hoping i got a call to go fly a King Air C90 that the company had just bought and was looking to bring online and since i had previous king air experience they gave me a shot. I worked for them for a about 14 months flying into remote camps and northern communites flying anything from drums of fuel to groceries and flying hunters in and out of the mountains. landing on all types of airfields but it was all mostly as gravel, or grass. After that i just recently got a job working out of YVR for a medivac company and i am enjoying it so far. who knows what else is in store for me in my aviation journey but all i can say again is just keep trying i applied probably over a 100 companies for one company to give me a chance. keep at it cause all you need is that first gig and well.. the rest as they say is history.. ;)

Thank you so much for this video. I can't watch it without getting choked up, because I needed this. Right now. About 10 years ago I left a career in music, having to start over with nothing. Learning to fly had always been a dream. I couldn't get the financing to go to ATP's school, so I worked whatever job I could get and eventually could afford to learn to fly. Now I'm a CFII and just a few hundred hours away from what I genuinely never thought I could do - and without going into crippling debt. I never thought I could be HERE. "This year I will make goal become a reality. I CAN." I'm less than a year from reaching what for so long seemed completely unattainable for me. It's true. "You can only connect the dots looking backward. You have to trust... even if it leads you off the well-worn path." For me, it's been a lot of God too.

I admire pilots. They’re held to an extremely high standard. And they should be treated that way. What saddens me is when you see pilots and flight attendants standing in line with the general public at airports while trying to get a quick bite to eat at a McDonalds or a Wendy’s or whatever the airport has to offer for food. Or when you see them rushing through an airport to catch their own plane. In my opinion these pilots and flight attendants should be treated as royalty. They should have their own healthy food sources catered to them in special rooms. They should should have their own hallways/walkways which keep them from the general public. And every airline should,in agreement and partnership, have a hotel within walking distance for airline employees. The importance of flying is strong. Safety even stronger. So pay these airline employees well and treat them with great respect! Our lives are in their hands.

My dream is to become a pilot. I’m 28, and it doesn’t look like I’ll become one soon, but I ain’t giving up. I’m working a job I don’t want to work, so I can save up and fund for my flight training. Everything seems to be working against me, but that isn’t gonna bring me down. I have to do whatever I can in my capacity to be where I’ve always wanted to be in life. I’ve accepted my current situation and am holding myself accountable for everything that has happened. I can either work for it or let go of it. Life is beautiful when you get to chase your dream, but it’s even more beautiful when you grind in the struggle to get there. So keep your heads up fellow dream chasers, and keep believing that you’ll get there. Even if you don’t have the power to change your path right now, keep a vision in your head of where and what you want to be. Keep dreaming. Because eventually, your dreams become your reality. It’s inevitable. All you have to do is just dream, and wish.

But I've decided that i want to be a pilot next year when i turn 16 i'll start working, i'll start helping them, and i'll be saving some money to pay for my college. I don't want them to keep working hard i want them to be proud of me i want to be able to give them more than what they've give me. Right now i'm trying to be good at school it is a little bit hard cause i still need to learn English or at least 90% of it but that's what i want to do. Thank you so much for this video it is amazing! I want to make my dreams a reality!

I still may be very young and not even an adult, but this, this is what I want. Thanks for the video, every time I feel down I watch it and it helps me. I have to do everything to follow my dream. This Video amongst some others took me where I am today! Thank you so much for this motiviation! I watched this up and down during my ATPL theory training. When I woke up to go to work I always watched one of these to keep me focused on why I really want to do all this, why I spend so much money and effort into something and I have to say i regret nothing! Flying is my life!

This helped me a lot throughout my flight training. It helped me through private and instrument training and hopefully it will help throughout my commercial and so on. This video is one of the reason why I’m still working hard till this day. Thank you for the video. Without this I most likely would have given up. Remember guys, success is uncomfortable… start getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Keep pushing even when you think you can’t because you will. You will make it.

I didn't think the sun rising from the sea of clouds was so beautiful whether it rained or snowed on the ground. I think a pilot who can see the scenery that can not be seen on the ground is a wonderful profession.

Here. Moved from the Caribbean to Canada without family to study engineering. It was boring. Switched universities and programs over a period of 4 years having already invested $30,000+ in tuition. Wasn't fulfilled by the post secondary education system so I dropped out and went into depression from a lack of direction in life. Found the courage a year ago to believe in myself and my dream of becoming a pilot. Took the first step to apply for flight school and got accepted. Was supposed to move in a house with some buddies close to flight school before my training start, the deal went bad and ended up homeless, a couple bad turns later I went $25,000 in debt and no money in the bank. My girlfriend and her family were generous enough to house me until I get on my feet. Went through a string of jobs working to build myself back up again. Still have a ways to go but halfway done with my ppl and then on to cpl, MRI, ifr, atpl. Everyone has their challenges in life but you hold the final say in whether those challenges will make or break you. It's definitely not easy but I refuse to accept a reality where I'm not flying at FL450 and beyond. Believe that you can, fight though hell to make it happen. Keep you dreams alive, because you're the only one that can. Hopefully see you in the skies one day. ✌🏽

20 years old here. Next year I will get a bank loan and do my pilot's licenses. Sick of working a normal job that I hate doing. 9-5 is killing me! Time to follow my heart and dreams that I had since I was a young boy, cause where they belong is in a cockpit behind the controls of a beautiful sophisticated jet.
