I just started tft two weeks ago I’m gold 1 pushing plat. Please take what I say with a grain of salt since I’m so new, but pushing tempo has helped me climb much more than playing for comps. Obviously I try to make my team make sense but I win lots of fights just from having more heroes or better heroes on the board. Tempo with no comp tho pretty much playing for third or fourth. I’m sure this probably doesn’t work in higher elos but I can’t speak to that yet.

nope, this is exactly how you should play most of the time. if you play proper tempo, and have a knowledge of comps, and do good scouting, you can always leverage the HP you build into a comp that makes sense in the later parts of the game. the only time you should do a hard forced comp is if you have the proper signals for it. So its not really about "forcing" comps. You have the instincts which is good, videos like this help you mold those instincts into higher finishes by knowing what and when to commit to a comp.

Welcome! Yes most often you should play tempo because it is saving your HP which make it less risky. But you should also consider playing a strong end game comp to go for the win even if it meant losing streak to get optimal econ which is riskier

yeah I’m running into that at the top of gold bottom of plat. It has forced me to learn the comps, but most of silver and gold went down to just tempo while I learned what does what. Also I didn’t mention it but I should have, Econ to push tempo or support your comp is very important. Still a little shaky on the items and who wants want and hey it’s tft sometimes you just miss on the rolls. Thank you guys for the advice and encouragement. I’ll take what I can get this game isn’t super complicated but you have to learn almost everything before you’re ready to play 😭

With Sugarcraft, you have to think of Katarina as an option. You have to roll on 7 to stabilise even if this is a Fast 8 board and you're much more likely to hit 2/3* Katarina over 2* Fiora. Also, the Faerie Crown with Rakan adds to Sugarcraft stacks which is a huge reason to hold her! I've won a couple games with this set-up.

thats why playing good early and preserving HP is useful and if you lose streak ideally you should be stronger than most of the lobby when you decide to cash out your lose and spike your board

warwick reroll is just too hassle to play without any reroll augment even with vampiric scepter. a lobby with high rolls just punish you if you don't hit at the right time.

Another conditional comp I've been enjoying is Front Line Ezreal. IE,BT,HOJ on EZ and the rest of the team usually is Rumble, Shen, Varus, Hecarim, TK, Hwei at 7, then you pretty much just try to add trist and smolder to get six blaster. Champs in the comp aren't super contested, so even though the strat if to rush 3 star ez then start levelling up, it's easy enough to get 1-2 extra 3 stars in the process. Comp is total trash if you can't get Ez's items or an early Ez though, since no items means Ez gets chunked then can't recover / do enough, while no ez the comp is pretty bad. Also you ideally want to get pyro sooner rather than later since that's your only source of AS on Ez. So stars really have to align for it to work, but every time I've got it going it's been a comfortable top 3.

just tried it, super weak until 3 star ez, but I hit smoulder 2 with golden neeko, ez 3, shen 3. Lost to 10 portal and got 7th because of hp so it was hard to tell with this game

This was much better last patch but instead of ez carry, it would be hwei. You can have 4 blaster 4 vanguard and get top 4 quite easy. Then you can try get 6 blaster or 6 vanguard, 3 frost by level 8/9.

​@@bakaguya1383 Yeah if you don't have an early 2 star ez, or you get really unlucky with your rolls for 3 star ez you can bleed a ton of hp. Augments can be pretty important for the comp too. Pump Up, Component Buffet/Pandora's items or Find your Center are the go to silver rank augments with rolling for days and team building being okay since they help get to 3 star faster. Gold you want something like Three's a crowd, blossoming lotus or or blaster crown. Prismatic March of Progress isn't bad to save your gold for rerolling and anything to give you a radiant item for Ez is good too (ideally radiant IE). I like this comp but I usually keep it as my Plan B rather than the main comp I go for because of how conditional it can be / how weak it is before Ez gets online.
