I use an elite series 2 and a guy with bigger hands, so I really loved the longer back buttons it comes with. I purchased the eswap pro after watching the first video, I really liked the size and accuracy but those tiny back buttons really don't work for me. I see this new one has a little bit bigger ones, hoping it helps. Tell thrustmaster to make back buttons on par with almost all other pro controllers and they'll have a winner in my book!

Modular controllers are definitely the future, especially if you’re into FPSs where you put a lot of strain on your stuff. I loved the Astro C40 once I got over the learning curve of how to properly set it up. I just got a Scuf Reflex and even though it’s my favorite controller I know it will inevitably have stick issues. It’s nice to see more brands doing the modular design, and this Thrustmaster one is actually at a fair price compared to the other pro controllers.

Dear Mr. Brit, I just wanted to thank you for making this video and all the other content you make. I have recently started/completed my first ever PC build and coming from a strictly console gaming background I was in the market for a solid controller that would amplify my gaming experience without breaking the bank. After watching this video around 5 or 6 times I decided to place an order for the eswap S pro. I received the controller yesterday and after placing some custom mapping and some other personal preference settings, I can firmly declare that this is the best controller I’ve ever used on any platform. It doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the regular pro, but I can’t dream of a scenario where I would need anything more than what I have. Thank you, so much. @@TheTacticalBrit Thank you! I use the left for jump and the right for crouch/slide, essentially making it so I use the back buttons to slide cancel. Took some time to build the muscle memory but it makes movement a little more manageable.

Just as a slight update to my review, I went ahead and picked up the S5RC NXG replacement mods and I have to say they’re superior to the ones that ship with the controller. They’re a bit taller than the stock mini sticks and they also allow for a swappable convexed thumb stick cap which I prefer for my left stick for more comfortable movement. But that’s all subjective. Hopefully this helps as well!

I’m really glad you did this review. I spotted the S recently and wanted someone to review. There is a guy called VCuda on you tube who reviews controllers and he generally agrees with you on the X. The only down side was the X was too big, making reaching the back paddles a strain. If it wasn’t for this flaw, i would have got the X. My controller history is not great, i originally went for an elite series 2, I got immediate stickdrift and the LB button stopped working after 3 months. I then got a Razor Wolverine Tournament addition (RWT), this was fantastic, but I got stick drift after 13 months, I would have brought another, but I had a series X by he, so I couldn’t. The new RWT looks trash, so I got a Vitrix Gambit controller in January, it was really good, but I’m getting an issue now with the stick pulling heavily up, frequently. I think the next controller I will get will be the S, I can’t afford to just keep buying new controllers every 6-12 months after £100-200 a pop.

@@amysmith9861 your better off finding a controller and then getting reviews on it. The cheaper controllers are usually false economy as they get faults pretty soon after buying. Expensive can also be like this so be careful. Apparently Scuff controllers are really bad reliability wise and only have a 3 month warranty.

@@tu9022 agreed, I have been in contact with Victrix and they are sending me another controller. Apparently there is a two year warranty on the controller, which is really good in comparison to most other firms.

Amazing to see Thrustmaster make these controllers, along with their great programable software. Thrustmaster have been killing it with their simulation controllers, so good to see them taking that skillset and software to push it towards the mainstream and FPS games.

Only issue I have is that they took off the extra two buttons. In games like R6, I use the top two for leaning (thumbstick press), as it eliminates the adverse aiming effect caused by pressing thumbsticks down. Bottom two are for a and b. I use the razer wolverine ultimate, so I'm even more used to an extra two more buttons than the 4 of the first thrustmaster. This option alone made this controller an impossible buy choice over the first, which I'm thinking about getting. Plus the removal of the D-pad being replaceable seems like a step back honestly. But this is all based on the xbox thrustmaster eswap x pro controller. I feel this is mostly an upgrade for moderate competition, versus pro competition. Especially for fighting or dpad intensive games. It also prevents you from having a real modular controller, where you could have the dpad and thumbsticks change places, or even have a PS/Xbox layout. Otherwise, it's still a really good controller. These are just my thoughts and concerns about it

I use the Razer Wolverine at the moment and this looks like it could be my next one. However, the only criticism I have is that you do need 4 back buttons to enable players who don’t play claw use them to heal, change weapons and loot without taking thumb off the stick. Razer has 2 additional buttons next to the triggers which I use to melee and ping which again come in extremely useful

Yea I used the ultimate it’s my favorite so far! I’m now using the elite series 2 and I like it except for the fact I accidentally hit the other paddles sometimes which results in immediate death lls. But the software is amazing. I have a scuff pro ps5 controller on the way that’s my next test subject lol. Def will look into this model tho although the 2 buttons almost makes me not even want to try it

Great video :) I have for some time noticed issues in my accuracy when using Series X controllers in FPS such as COD MW2 and Warzone and for the longest time I thought it was just me. After doing lots of testing with series X and then Elite series 2 using radial calculations, I did see a noticeable improvement in aim accuracy and consistency . Unfortunately the Elite series 2 controller became unreliable in a very short space of time and was sent back. The conclusions in your videos does reinforce why many of the pro players default to using the PlayStation platform for console, and PS OEM or modified PS controllers on PC due to the radial deadzones. Based on this I've ordered an ESWAP S pro and from what I understand the radial deadzones are baked into the controller meaning it will work with XBOX out of the box which is something I am looking forward to testing. I'd rather have a great controller that addresses the design issues inherent in Xbox controllers instead of switching platforms for now.

Which Xbox controllers have axial deadzones, or any deadzones, baked in? 360 party models might, and some 360 models had per-axis curves which skewed diagonals around the axes, but I can't say I've come across any official model that's had any deadzone applied. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sticks output identically outside of a difference in resolution.

Ok owned one for over 30 days, killed two sticks and a spare, possible fault on controller but going through warranty. I did love the controller, for these reasons; Sticks best I’ve felt for aiming, that’s it. Reasons I didn’t like it, the software app was clunky, the controller select / start are in an awkward placement, it felt cheap and hot to hold(added grips) if I could get my money back I would but broke at day 36. I will be selling mine or keeping as a spare. Moving forward, keep to elites select/start placement, move to Hall effect sticks within the modular design, don’t compromise quality in a bid to cut costs, add a extra button but use scuf placement on instinct as using one finger works best for two buttons other side. Add grips, plastic housing makes you sweat. I’ve just ordered the new turtle beach stealth, with Hall effect sticks, taking out insurance so covered for repair.

Just brought this, great accuracy on sticks and i also have owned alot of controllers from different companies. The immediate issue, although not a deal braker are. The grips are not great on side, your hands get hot (ordered some stick on side grips) so that needs work, then the menu and select buttons need moving lower and inwards slightly. Would love to see 4 buttons, which i like the almost rocker version the scuf instinct has. A increased tension modular thumbstick is needed, and the reorder of sticks has been out of stock on their latest gen sticks. Crack these issues and i would happily pay more for what, out of the box seems the most accurate device for aiming, that ive used since i started gaming, and i started on the commodore 64... ❤

I got my eSwap X in a couple weeks ago after looking at your first video on it. I didn’t know the S was dropping. Even so, it’s the best controller I’ve owned. The accuracy and responsiveness is noticeable immediately out of the box. I can actually set my DZ to 0 on WZ. The sticks are dead on accurate and allow you to make those pen point adjustments for FPS games. Thanks again! Can’t wait to setup my PC that just came in. Gonna be fun times for the last 1/2 of WZ and just in time for MII2/WZ2!

I have both. The S is nicer in the hand. The controller is smaller and more akin to the xbox shape. The back buttons for me are still useless. The sticks are shorter which i prefer. However, i still use the X. Why? Because i play southpaw (left thumb aim) and having the left thumb stick in a central position is a godsend for comfort and leverage. The app is still glitchy and you still get stuck trying to switch between profiles.

@@MattDrewry yes they are inter compatible. You can also purchase the shorter S2 sticks and longer S5 sticks and either work in either controller. I note that the S2 sticks in the eswap s are actually a different part number than the ones you buy separately. The ones you buy separately are very, very tight. A little too tight in my opinion.

Thanks for the update on this controller. I currently use the Eswap X Pro controller. One thing I do like about it is that I can swap the d-pad with an analogue stick. Looking at the new S controller, it would seem this is not the case. Was this to keep costs low, especially with there being two less rear programmable buttons? All the same, it looks decent and I may just give it a shot.

The stickdrift in my Gen 1 Elite has now gotten so bad no matter how much deadzone and stick profile i change it's still almost unplayable... On the e swap x my biggest problem with it is how easy it seems to be to switch to the other mapping settings for the co troller- often I won’t notice that it’s switched and I’ll fall to my death because of the buttons being mapped differently- it also was a bit bulky in comparison to the elite series 2 I had switched from- very excited to see that being addressed! Keyboard and mouse will always be the best controller for Warzone until they consider making tac sprint less vigorous on the thumbs. I even tried the slide cancelling playstyle and gave myself carpal tunnel within just a couple days.

Which length sticks do these come with as default- shorter ones I imagine? Can we specify the length at order? Also, how much longer is the longer option? Bought the swap because of your first video and the sticks are amazing, but those buttons are too far inside the controller I had to take it back and get the victix controller. Cheaper and way more comfortable. If swap could make paddles the way a player holds the controller it wouldn’t stay on the selves. For now I’ll stick with this. I’m not a pro so I don’t have too much to lose.

The software is the same but the cable is USB type c now which is a huge upgrade

asymmetric sticks like xbox controller.. not as comfortable as playstation controller in terms of stick positions.. to make it perfect I think being able to switch the left stick in the xbox or playstation position will be ideal, because the sticks is already swappable

I really really wish there were 4 paddles on the back of the Eswap S. That is a deal breaker for me. I would rather get the eswap x if Thrustmaster is still producing them. Are they?

Disagree. I had the thrustmaster eswap x pro for a year and a half, stick drift began. Tried cleaning the modules and the contacts, didn't work. Different games and PCs, didn't work. New sticks I bought had worse drift than the old, ended up returning it under warranty and returning the new sticks too. Hall effect magnet sticks are probably the future, not hotswap sticks. Like the 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth or the GameSir T4 Kaleid with the hall effect sticks.

I have gotten so used to having 4 back paddles/buttons that I doubt I'll be switching from the Elite 2 any time soon. Having to never take my right thumb off the stick is too nice to change from now that I've become accustomed to it for so long. But when it inevitably dies out on me, and if Thrustmaster has a version that will feature 4 back buttons, then I will give it a serious consideration for sure! I really like the modular idea for stick replacement, customization, and the price is nice. Thanks for the video and info!

I’ve been using the Astro C40 for a few years now too. It’s difficult to get spare parts atm and it’s still detected as an Xbox controller on PC sadly. How are those back buttons compared to the paddles on the C40 though? They still look too small and difficult to press.

Just bought one of these to replace failed Elite series 2. Please could you do a video on response curves for the sticks, I have gone with s15 M24 L60 on the left for more instant response, s34 m34 L32 on the right, this setup feels great to me, but always interested to hear your analytical view.

I got a scuf during the pandemic when I was playing war zone daily during the pandemic, I really liked it but after 7/8 months it just wore out badly, and having spent £240 on it I felt a bit mugged off tbh, so will defo look into this
