The Hall effect is an effect that occurs because of the Lorentz force. Essentially, if a charged particle moves with vertical component through a magnetic field, then the Lorentz force deflects the electrons to the left. This causes electrons going through a metal collect on one side, which creates a voltage called the Hall voltage. This voltage can be measured. As for how this is used in the controller, I’d assume, that the stick is attached to a magnet, or a sensor, and moving the stick changes the magnitude of the Hall effect, which can be detected by measuring the Hall current.

The trigger "stops" that can be set in software are due to the triggers having their own feedback mechanisms similar to the Dualsense's adaptive triggers. Pulling through the soft stop means you're overcoming the feedback motor's resistance.

@@Pabloesc571 sure there's a certain point when it becomes perceivably instant. But considering fighting games and certain speed running categories rely on 1-frame inputs for certain combos and sequences means that having an additional frame of input latency makes things harder. Some rhythm games require frame perfect judgments (some even sub frame) to score well at, to the point where it's been a QOL change to allow offset adjustments by .01ms increments to account for monitor delay and your own reaction/reading speed. And it super matters.

Love your videos! Have you done any testing on full system latency of controllers compared to Mice? My expectation would be that the results should be within 1ms. However when I do a similar test to you and record my screen at 240fps I get drastically slower system latency on controller vs mouse. I measure controller to be around 40ms on my system (10 frames), but my mouse has a latency of 20ms (5 frames). Any idea why/how the mouse could be 20ms faster than controller? This difference seems significant. (I've done most of my testing with my Envision Pro)

If you liked the Flydigi Apex 4, try out the Flydigi Vader 3 Pro. It has a 500Hz wireless polling rate, has hall effect thumbsticks and hall effect triggers with physical stops (something the Apex 4 is lacking). It also has 6 extra programable buttons instead of just 4 (4 on the bottom and 2 on top). Those extra buttons on top are great because one of them is right under part of your thumb and you can set it to dpad up to ping things without ever taking your thumbs off the sticks. I am hoping that Flydigi releases a Vader 4 Pro with a 1000Hz polling rate and the same 6 buttons because those extra 2 face buttons are a game changer for me.

Just got mine in today. It's pretty nice. Coming from a powerA Fusion Pro. It feels pretty good.. still getting used to it. One thing I noticed which I really don't like, is when you have it set on Trigger Lock mode, and bring make the trigger pull pretty short - 10-30 range on the slider - it takes a significant pressing force to trigger a shot. It should trigger sooner. It's a bit of a bummer, and it makes it REALLY difficult to shoot a single fire pistol quickly. Makes playing COD kinda difficult. **** take this feedback with a grain of salt, as I've only been using the controller for about 2 hours.

Really wish they made this for console as well. I have a TB Stealth Ultra, which is great, but wish it had adjustable stick tension and swappable sticks.

I managed to break mine without a week if they add hair triggers it would be perfect. I am currently running an flydigi vader 3 pro and overal its a better controller except ror the adjustable thumbstick tension and polling rate (500 vs 1000)

@@dazwgoaliedaz5333as someone who has 4 its pretty rare that i play a game where i feel i need to use all 4, the only game like that is siege tbh, because i use two paddles for leaning, one for vaulting, and one for reloading, in cod, ow, xdefiant, apex i generally only use the outer two tbh

This is for PC only I assume? I’d like something for my Xbox been using elite 2 and I love it but damn bumpers stop working unless hard pressed and stick drift like every other controller.

You were on MnK too before u switched right? I mean I can completely understand that, given just how powerful AA is but its just kinda sad to see that there are almost no creators left who play MnK.

Loved the controller up until last night when the Left Stick broke, I had it set to medium tension. I am getting it replaced via Amazon but sure Hope it lasts longer than 2 months this time. I will try setting the Tension down to low to see if it lasts longer. Happy Gaming Everyone!

Can you use reWASD or something similiar to get keyboard functionality? I was. The one thing that is nice about the Envision Pro is that you can use the G keys to mute yourself in Discord, or run a keyboard shortcut for OBS. I tried testing reWASD with Vader 3 Pro on the extra face buttons. It worked but COD seemed to have trouble launching while the reWASD process was active on my computer. Not sure if they have it blocked now.

As an fpv pilot, I always wondered if or when Hall effect gimbals would ever make it to gaming controllers. That alone makes me want to try this controller out.

Technically, they were around in the 80s and 90s, but they never caught on(probably due to manufacturing costs and the death of the Sega Dreamcast).

You and me both buddy ima look into it. I have a scuf invison an elite series 2 and a power a fusion. I play with the fusion about 100% of the time. I’ve put a lot of hours in on cod and it’s still my go to. But I can feel the input lag in it. I hate a parallel stick configuration so that would be a good one to try. I was going to maybe get a gambit but I haven’t yet.

@@aztecdemon5975 it's a very common and well known issue that the potentiometers in both the PS4 dualshock and PS5 dual sense are complete ass. Most hardcore gamers will have drift and stick issues well before the warranty expires.
