Excellent demonstration! (I have not a clue what that other commentor meant by saying your 'pairing of the yarn & hook were off' - your technique is just fine!)

Thank you for the clear instructions. That being said, I was distracted. My eyes were focussing on the multiple times you had to reinsert your hook. The pairing of the yarn and hook were off. 😢 Something to keep in mind for your future postings and projects.

I don’t really understand how this is a strong cord- it looks like just a modified slip stitch chain. How is this stronger than something like a waistcoat stitch ?

Hi! So this is basically a chain with modified slipped stitches. The fact that you go over the sts twice makes it very strong and not stretchy, perfect for straps and a sturdy edging. Waistcoat stitch is worked off single crochet stitches, which is quite different.
