An amazing piece of engineering. I understand full well your attitude concerning patent and priority. I made a software package with practical applications and donated it as “shareware” to the public domain. When asked by my employer’s legal team and my management why I would spend many thousands of hours writing computer code only “give it away” I said truthfully, because my reward is what I am able to learn. They were baffled, had I tried to market it clearly they might have attempted to stop me, but unlike high level scientists in their employment they had not bothered to compel people at my level to sign an agreement that if we dream anything on our free time related to their commercial interests in the remotest way, then they own it. After me, “all employees” had to sign an agreement because “to dream and to learn” might have commercial value. What they did was formulate an in-house team of scientists and engineers and begin to develop their own computer simulation tools, excluding me of course. They did a small fraction of what I had accomplished before losing interest, but banned my “shareware” from company use and made it plain, they were not happy with me. Unhappy even as they patented some of my future ideas. Ironically, that too came from what I had learned doing shareware. Good luck with your projects!

Mit einer elektrischen Winde wäre es m.E. noch besser
@mrkiky7 жыл бұрын
Or he just needs more teeth on the wheel. If one impact from the ratchet is able to get past one tooth, then it wouldn't spin back.
@IndieMarkus7 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that's not really a suitable solution, since it would put too much stress on the teeth. High impact on smaller (and therefore thinner and less sturdy) teeth would wear them out too much in the long run. Using impulsive forces is not suitable for other reasons as well, since it would probably be unpleasant if the crossbow was rattling or vibrating instead of smoothly winding up. Another advantage of a pulley mechanism is that smaller, less powerful electrical motors could be used, since they would not have to be as strong as the ratchet.

M.f.G.Niko

Maybe something like the double-pistol grip on the Mossberg M-1100 P? Obviously it would still need a stock for aiming stability, but you'd get increased grip from having a decent sized handle that can be dragged back, snagging the string on both sides (say a double-hook setup). Maybe even internalize it, have it run on rails. Of course you'll need a snap-in mechanism when it's in the full-forward position to "lock" it in place and provide stability. Maybe released by a smaller trigger on the forward grip? Yes, I love weapons. The current build is extremely impressive, and these are just the requested hypotheses on improving an already great design.

Is this the future crossbow? If you take the inside of a battery operated drill apart you could most likely get it integrated into the stock, also only have it hold 3 bolts, and integrate the rope on the outside into the stock forearm, make the crank silent, skeletonize the stock, make it out of aluminium, and make the whole thing around 6.5 pounds. You've been challenged. Love your videos!! Oh maybe trick the whole thing out with realtree camo. You should team up with Excalibur crossbows and make in a micro version that shoots 350 fps.

I wonder if a pneumatic cylinder would have enough force to push (pull) the sled. Was thinking about two long cylinder and a paintball co2 tank.Then do the two step trigger, one step would release the air from the cylinder to move the sled back into neutral position and second stage would fire the bolt.

Waaa this is a really amazing crossbow , why don't you team with a cross bow company to make one ? That way you won't have to deal with lawyer and you still make some money. Like to make him see please
@s4n714g0007 жыл бұрын
But the company that makes it will likely want a patent or something so that it can't have competitors. That's my guess though, I'm not sure

nice work Joerg . i hunt with an excalibur recurve cross bow. i think i can shoot about as fast as this cross bow you made but without the ratchet noise . great for home protection but too noisey for hunting .

Please tell me theres someway to commision some work from you Joerg im truly astounded by that crossbow. Id happily pay for one to be shipped to the UK if you ever go into production

Rupert, I have no time for custom made products. I am a KZbinr, not a weapon maker. But I am sure you can find plenty of good carpenters who can build one for you.
@ruperthaynes27237 жыл бұрын
JoergSprave completly understand im sure given time to create and edit content your kept very busy. You maybe should consider making a few pieces aome people consider these items more of an art than a weapon. Unique items like that hold alot of value just look at some of the rufus hussey slingshots that are for sale now. Maybe an option could be to create a pay to view channel that includes creation videos and blueprints of your designs. Im sure theres lots of fans thatd be happy to try some of your amazing designs
@Chraan7 жыл бұрын
+JoergSprave Hello, I am also very interested in some of your designs. However, I am not a carpenter, so I don't know if one who watches your videos gets enough input to know exactly how you did this and that. Would you think someone watching your videos and having your skills can rebuild the stuff? And if not, would you consider publicing your blueprints, as the designs are open for the public domain? @@lxkkxs It's available from Cold Steel. The Cheap Shot 130. Excellent crossbow, and Jörg has made a 6-arrow magazine for it! Sells as a set for €359 I think.
@austrobok29585 жыл бұрын
@Abhinav Premkumar maybe he did, but he also made a magazine for the above crossbow. That one sat above the bow unlike this one which is underneath it.

Exodarion I think copyrights and patents are fine imagine if you invented your own thing and some other random person saw it and copied the same product, would you be a happy fellow?
@zwz.zdenek7 жыл бұрын
That's a naive approach. Most "inventors" like Edison and Bell were just idea thieves. They used patents to actually steal the inventions for themselves. Colleges were forced to put part of their budget to register locally done work to combat this.
