A great and honest review, Branden. Sorry the 4680 batteries haven't lived up to the hype. I have a '23' YLR and have zero complaints. Great car and my first ev. I've had great ICEs, but will not go back. My first ride in Tesla was back in 2018 in a XP100D. Completely blown away by the acceleration and tech. Took me 5 years to convince my wife, but now she sees the reality too. It's a great car. With prices falling and Chinese competition spurring Tesla and others on... stay tuned. It will keep being very interesting and rewarding. Keep up the good work!

It charges so fast, just a stellar road tripper and of coarse plenty of version 3 superchargers on many of lour long distance routes and within a few week our other route From Vancouver, BC to Edson, AB via Highway 5, 2 new version 3 superchargers are built long that Kamloops, BC to Jasper, AB Route and about to be energised, my road trips are getting better!

I would take poor Tesla charging on the Tesla charging network over any vehicle with only CCS1 charging. I know they have said that they will open the charging network to some companies in February but I will only believe it when I see it. Thank you so much for being the Guinea pig for this trim level. I know it is a bummer for your needs but you helped a ton of people realize that this isn’t the trim level for them. I have seen incredible efficiency gains with 18” wheels and the Hankook iON EVO AS tires and my Model 3 Performance. My lifetime average over 24k miles is at 261 wh/mi and I can do 235 wh/mi with these Hankook tires now even with all of the Drag racing I do. Maybe swap out the wheels and tires to gain some efficiency. That might offset the charging issues a little bit?

We have the same '23 AWD version as you (purchased in Aug '23)... At the time, the price of the LR was 'only' $3K more, BUT in our state, it crossed the threshold and we would have also lost out on a $3K state tax credit. So, the net difference was $6K. Not worth it to me since road trips are quite uncommon for us. Also, regarding efficiency, we have the standard 19" Gemini wheels and our lifetime efficiency over 5159 miles is 242 Wh/mi. The driving scenario clearly makes a big difference, and your high percentage of road trips certainly hits your efficiency. Luckily you don't often pay for energy ! Maybe the AWD was the wrong choice for you because of the poor charging speed, but it was the right choice for many... We have been very happy and agree it is an excellent vehicle.

I purchased a model y with 4680 battery just a month before you picked up. After you picked up yours, I was really happy because I can learn about this model y with new battery. Unexpectedly after 3 weeks, there was a lousy whistling noise coming from font driver side. And Tesla they tried their best but they couldn’t fix and sitting at service center for around 3 months 😂😂. Now they repurchased my model y with 4680 battery and refunded all of the costs. Now I purchased a new model y long range. Even though I don’t feel good about my recent MY 4680, I’m happier for that defect because I feel like I got a better one now😅😅 and got a free ride for 6 months 😆😆

We have a 23 MYLR and largely agree with criticisms. Our vehicle however has a shrill, high frequency squeak / chirp that happens from the front end in the cold that Tesla has not been able to resolve, even with a new FDU. If I recall your battery pack has a approx 60KWH total, so your charging on version 3 supercharger (10-80% in about 40 minutes) is about the same as the Tesla Cyber truck in split pack configuration when using a 500 volt version 3 supercharger. I would have thought the charging would have improved on the Cyber version 2.3 4680 battery.

My distance is 20,753 as I write this with 5,086 kWh @ 245 Wh/mi I've been extremely pleased with how efficient the 4680 Model Y is at least with me compared to my 2020 M3P that I had it's not even a comparison, of course that one didn't have a heat pump but still this is way more efficient than I thought going into it. My driving is probably equally split between city and highway, but just curious why is your average energy so much higher? @gabeh7373. Was thinking the same. Our 2023 MY 4680 variant has 242 wh/mi with about 70/30 city/hwy. Typically estimated range avg 300 and took several road trips and avg 280 range. Must admit I have these Cybertruck Aero caps that has extended the range between 15 to 20 miles.

You're understandably skeptical about the 4680 batteries, and range increases and charging speed increases. But I'm skeptical about the CCS charging infrastructure improving with good reason as well. For years, CCS charger makers have said the charging experience will improve soon. It should have been fixed years ago, based on their predictions, and it hasn't. .... And non-Teslas using the Tesla infrastructure may not be a panacea either. If you look at Plugshare reviews of Superchargers with the Magic Dock, many CCS EVs are having some trouble. Some EVs are and some aren't. These particular SCs are rated down by CCS car users and don't usually have the Plugshare 10 ratings that SCs that service only Teslas usually have. And I've had a Fremont long range Model Y for 13 months now, and I've had the same experience as you with no creeks or rattles, and no uneven panel gaps. And I've had zer0 problems. I couldn't be more pleased. My wife just got an Austin long range Model Y as well (not 4680), 3 months old and no creek, rattles, or panel gaps, or other problems either. And I love having full access to the SC system.
@dvanmartin98428 ай бұрын

Multiple notes, Wipers are way better after last update, not quite perfect but way better. FSD has gotten considerably better ESPECIALLY on the highway! I continually get more and more zero disengagement drives. Most of my issues stem from making full stops at stops signs, people just do not do that in real life. About your degradation, seems to be slightly better than my two 2170 cell vehicles, but the slower charging is a trade off that's meh. Otherwise, fair assessment. In my opinion as it stands today all of this still makes the M-Y solidly best overall vehicle considering its size and price. Last note; Tesla will not just open up the complete network for many years, so don't expect that advantage to disappear for quite some time.
