This is definitely a worth while day trip from Almaty, and the surprise hike we ended up doing was worth it for the views.

13:10 it's used for roller skating in the evening during the summer time. The skating season starts mid November and lasts mid April

There are 124 nations living in our country, so not everywhere you can find specifically Kazakh national food. For example, what you ate for breakfast is not Kazakh. There was baursak on the counter, that's ours. It's fried dough, but without filling. Also you can't buy something with horse meat everywhere, especially if it's cheap, since it's the most expensive meat

Its intresting for local guy (like me) to have a look at the city with the eyes of foreigners. You are right! Kazakhstan located between Europe ans Asia, thats why we had influence from both sides. However, we dont have nothing common with chinese or any other SE asian cultures. I would call it eurasian culture.

Just take tickets for aircraft, railway (non recommend coz to far) or if you you are really crazy than take a rental car or go by taxi 😂

We did look at doing this route ourselves although our plans changed. Ofcourse you can do it the easy way and take the direct flight. However, we loved the Kazakh railway system so would recommend the train- even though it is a 45 hour + journey 😮

@@AshAndDan. Actually, i think that will be good for you if you next stop/city will be Shymkent, than Turkestan, than could be Kyzylorda and after Aktay. This option can give some experience of traveling in south part of KZ. There is a lotcolor of domestic/real life coz those city's is not so popular for tourists

You should have tried good fancy cafes and restaurants in downtown but not in suburbs. Pinta is also awful place to eat. There are many cool modern places to eat in upper part of Almaty.

Central Asian or Turkic culture is a unique culture. Historically, it so happened that the Turks in a unique way became a people with a mixed culture. The Turks from Europe interacted with Russians, Ukrainians, Serbs, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Greeks, Armenians, Georgians, Caucasians, Romanians. They especially interacted with Russians and Ukrainians. So historically and culturally it happened that the Russians are the most Turkicized Slavs, in the culture, language of the Russians there is a lot of Turkic influence. Almost all Russians have considerable Turkic roots. There are also purely European Turks. These are Hungarians and Bulgarians. Both are Turks by origin and blood. Also, do not be surprised if you see a Kazakh with an appearance similar to, for example, an Englishman or a Korean. The Kazakhs are a huge union of tribes, the Kazakhs include tribes of different origins. They are united by a very similar language (dialect), culture, customs, mentality, self-awareness. Yes, there are visible differences between Western and Southern, Northern and Southern Kazakhs. But they do not cease to be Kazakhs.😅

It's interesting, I never had this happen before. Back home often we get straws in certain drinks - cocktails or mixers but you would never see a beer with a straw in it! I understand if this is the reason though, it makes sense 😊
