I'm trying to plan a trip to Merida for my family and we don't know a lot about mexico. I've been watching many different vlogs by different youtubers but this is by far the best one. Love your cinematography and the banter between you two. Thanks for the videos!

FYI. The taxis hang out in the main square. Some ruins should have also been included in the tour. I paid $350 for transportation then it costs $90 to go into the nature reserve and $50 to visit the ruins. I also saw very few flamingos.

Hey Sarah, we wrote more about the day on our blog and booked the tour from a booth right at the boardwalk in Progreso. There are lots of tour operators all over town but ours was run by "Tio Pedro's Adven tours": www.featherandthewind.com/blog/day-trips-merida-progreso-yucatan-mexico

One peso converts to five cents in American money so the 400 pesos is twenty bucks. Pretty cheap if you convert it. And get all the info and interacting with a local person who knows the history. They have hundreds of varieties of corn in Mexico adn they are not genetically modified althought they have been trying to sneak their seeds into their crops. They have to monitor all the time. If more than one ear grows out from the stalk in one place it is a sign it is a genetically modified plant. One area of Mexico they have numerous varieties all different for different uses, some cook better than others etc. I am dying for a ear of corn that is not gentically modified. I read that all the yellow varieities in the groceries are gmo but that the white corn is not. Maybe it as changed now.
