I’ve had the Schwab Debit card for more than 10 years and it is the absolute best way to get cash when traveling abroad. I travel to Japan at least once a year and I’ve never had a problem using this card at an ATM. Quick tip: Many foreign ATMs will give you the option of posting the transaction in local currency or US dollars. Always choose the local currency to get the best exchange rate.

I've had this card going on three years now. It has been the best debit card I've ever had. I like being able to hit up any ATM, knowing I will get whatever fee reimbursed at the end of the statement period. I have yet to travel internationally, but having that piece of mind of its capabilities is such a great feeling. Yay Charles Schwab!

It’s hard to say which is my favorite debit card, but it’s probably a three way tie between the Schwab, Fidelity and Discover debit cards.

Jazzy: If you have cash to deposit into this Schwab debit account, convert it into a Money Order first, which can be done for less than $1 dollar at any Walmart store, and then deposit the Money order into any ATM. No need to have another debit account card like you described in your video.

Hmmm If you can’t deposit cash but you have two different bank accounts, can’t you just deposit your cash to let’s say Bank Of America and then transfer the money from there to Charles Schwab?

QUESTION? I recently opened a CS brokerage account because I'm moving to MX in 6 months. Most of my funds are in a money market at CS, but I keep some in the regular brokerage acct so I can get to it with my CS Visa Debt card. My question is...can I connect this acct to my 2 credit cards so I can make monthly pymts?? I do this now with my local US bank but I'll be closing that acct when I leave for MX.

Sounds like this will be great to have along side a credit union account (no cash minimum to keep open too). Just hope transfers between that and Schwab are easy, free, and possible like between most domestic banks. Probably depends.

This card is always in my wallet for worry free atm reimbursement domestically & internationally ; had it for 3 years now. For cash deposit I use Capital One 360 and transfer over some to my schwab checking

Soft pull for Schwab One applications. They used to do hard pulls in the past, but Charles Schwab changed the practice to do soft pull and also retroactively removed hard pulls for those affected within 2 years span. Opening a debit card application will require you to open a brokerage account as well.

It is precisely why I have Schwab account for the debit card for foreign travel. This card does eliminate all the fees that occur when withdrawing cash out of ATMs. Be aware to use only certified ATM machines that carry the VISA logo.

No fees, as I said in the video, you cannot deposit cash (but you can take out cash). That’s the main drawback.

If you mostly spend time in resorts and the tourist traps, you can get away with a credit card. anyone who regularly spends a lot of time overseas knows cash is king. You need a debit card.

@@VenturewithJazzy yup agreed, you do need both. However, I have homes in several places. So my use case is kinda niche. i always go through a bit of culture shock. As I said, its more about why you are there to begin with. Tourism vs everyday living. I do not use cash in the US. Period. But I might only use credit cards 10% of the time when overseas. And that might be high. Cant speak for them but It seems like the typical shopkeeper outside of the touristy areas doesnt see the cost benefit of paying the swipe fees.

If you apply for this card, they allow you to open the account but a few days later they close the account once they run a check on you. So it's not guaranteed you will get one despite they allowed you to open an account. Happened to me twice. I have yet to know why.

It's more than likely based on your Credit score. They will do a credit check when you open an account.

I thought I wasn’t going to get accepted with 0 investments as a student who’s barely trying to make it by, but I just got the card in the mail today. Definitely this one, Fidelity or Discover Debit. The customer service for all of these institutions are unmatched. Discover has treated me the best, Schwab coming in second, as soon as I tell them I’m a student, they are much nicer to me 🥴
