Coming from an fgc and platform fighter background to hearthstone the community’s reaction to “bug abuse” has always shocked me, to me bugs are part of the game and unless it’s something that completely ruins the experience for the other player (such as freezing their game etc…) you should do whatever it takes to win ESPECIALLY in high level ladder matches.

Hi Marshie, long time viewer, first time commenter! To elaborate a bit on the gong interaction - similar to the change of Craftman's Hammer, the specific word of AFTER vs WHEN/WHENEVER will dictate how the interaction works. Because it's AFTER, the damage dealing, deaths and deathrattles will activate before the gongs effect (similar to how the hammer with Odyn worked, you gained the armour AFTER the attack and so didn't gain the damage) I do agree with you that changing the effect to WHEN it takes damage will be a good nerf, because it will then trigger the effect before the damage/deaths. PS. Love your content and your streams whenever I'm awake late enough to catch it!

I have no idea how it takes them longer than an hour to fix this with a server-side hotfix - I'm super invested in hearthstone and even I just thought "huh, that's weird, why is sword eater here? I guess they wanted to specifcally buff warrior and give it a strong card?"

I played so many games of Twist and got to legend on day 2, I legit only saw 3 classes, Rogue, Warrior, and Warlock. It feels pretty bad right now, I'm hoping for some changes relatively soon. Edit: I also didn't realize Sword Eater wasn't supposed to be legal until this video. I just sorted through what showed up as legal under the collection tab whoops lmao.

With the scarab thing idk the exact wording but i agree with you if it says "when this takes damage" but if it says "after this takes damage" I think it's working as intended, the "after" part in my mind means after all immediate damager interactions are resolved do the effect, and in my mind minion dying is a "when this minion's heath goes below one it dies" not "after its health goes below one" but that's just my opinion:)

2:28 Not technically a bug because there is 'AFTER this takes damage summon XY' instead of 'WHENEVER this takes damage summon XY' meaning that the hellfire will damage all the things on the board and after that, it will trigger the gong. I there was the WHENEVER version, it would work as you said. Is it a bug? - I would say no. Is it broken? - I would say it is totally not balanced but that is where hearthstone is at this moment.

It is a useless deck and even more so considering that you have to draw many cards, I have removed the preparation cards and in their place I put cards to draw other cards, basically you need to draw many to make it profitable, then I put in my deck (taelan vadin) to ensure that he stole c'thun, you still only win 50% of games by playing very well. With other decks I think half and win much more

Reckoning is from Legacy and supposed to be in the format. As far as I know, Sword Eater is the only one that shouldnt be there.

I think it's at least a little lame IF you know that swordeater is bugged to be in the mode and you still play it. But since not everyone knows I can't really blame everyone who uses it. It does feel bad when I lose a game to a card that shouldn't even exist in the opponent's deck that's for sure. I for one wouldn't even play warrior if the only viable way to play it is to abuse a bug. I was playing your theorycrafted version of Cthun Warrior at the start when everything was viable and that was pretty fun/good. Hopefully something like that is viable when nerfs and bug fixes come.

I understand the argument of the even playfield but there are actually bugs abused like Biolumisence on release bug, which was horrible...(standard). I cant feel that anyone played an unplayable deck like that without knowing that it is bugged and hence good... Another point is again around that is that when a bug goes around in standard so many people spam that deck for a fews days and it feels terrible for people who dont want to use. I think juat putting it as "people want excuse for lost" is kinda undermining your point of the game should be fun and not dominated by a bug. Again this is not about sword eater but the point in general, sword eater isnt game breaking like Bio was or others so not as bad.

Bio is one of the big ones where the mob got under my skin, and would be a major talking point in a video focused on this discussion. Not going to argue in the comment, but for your curiosity’s sake the major points are: -Card should have been temp banned -Deck was already meta before the bug, dust is not free and it was many players only good deck. They should not be forced to not play the game for who knows how long before the bug is fixed. -Bio bug affected options on discover effects with many complications for both players. Player abstinence didnt solve this, only a temp ban would.

The only time when you really shouldn’t be abusing a bug is when it is game breaking or basically instawinning. It wouldn’t be fun if one class is bugged to start with 3 mana or start with 40 health; these are outrageous examples, but that goes to show how far the bug has to go to be considered “not morally acceptable”, but a bug this big would probably get hot fixed immediately anyway

I find it very weird that people keep going on and on in circles about how the player is at fault for playing the card. I absolutely hate everything about Neptulon, I do not hate on Big Priest players. I absolutely hate everything about Objection, I do not hate on Secret Mage players. Aim for the ball, not the player. It's all about the game having issues, not the players having issues. I will auto surrender to Secret Mage to avoid having my soul sucked out, but I hate on the cards released not the people who bought them and played them.

Personally on the bug abuser conversation, it’s really more nuanced than even you said. At the end of the day we’re human. You approach it very centrist and holistically. However, people also hold a sense of pride in the way they play the game and see it as bad if another doesn’t do the same. I can completely understand their point of view. At the same time it’s unrealistic to expect everything and everyone to follow your own values, one side or the other. Personally, I’m okay with either side cause while you call those critical of people abusing the bug as “annoying” I say people made just releasing some steam. Bar the most extreme abuse online, I’d say that’s not a bad thing and as I said to start, very human. On the flip side, the “just let people play their game” approach is probably the healthiest. It’s also not the place everyone is at right now. While you and I can say that, some people have other problems that taint their emotions, and them coming into a game they play to have fun, regardless of how misguided, they are sure to feel annoyed by it. So yeah, nuance 😅 Always good to see your uploads! I’d like to hear your thoughts some more :) Edit: to be clear, I agree with the devs being the true culprits. Not temp banning it is beyond dumb. Also, people not knowing is obviously fair as well. Just wanted to talk about the probelm people have, not the outlier cases or exceptions.

yes, that's the point, you feel bad for doing it and are free to not do it, exactly like a lot of people refuse to use meta decks because they don't have fun with them/think they are oppressive so don't play them out of principle. But no one has any right to criticize others for doing so since they are literally just playing the game the way it's presented to them
