I switched to a Custom Advantage 5 4 years ago. My horses shoulders were quite a bit freer. But for me the change was monumental. My other saddle had a med to narrow twist. The Custom saddle fitter saw right away that my saddle was spreading my narrow hips. I was always in pain. Always at PT to have them 'put my hip back" After one week in my new Advantage my hip pain was gone. Love you Custom

Congratulations on your sponsorship. I have had a lot of saddles in my 25 years of riding. In the last 11 years I have had 3 Customs. My first was a Wolfgang Solo that fit my horse but didn't work for me, a Icon Flight that I loved but rubbed my horse raw and recently a Everest R. I have for the past 11 years been a loyal customer. But here are the issues I have not with the product but the service. The Custom rep we had here for 10.5 years decided to get her own brand of saddle and branched out on her own. Apparently the training is 5 days to be a saddle fitter and it shows. Then I was informed that if if I did not use the Rep I forfeit my 5 year warranty. These reps should have to apprentice under a master saddle fitter. Custom has a good product but are only as good as the people that service them.

I have a 19” Wolfgang Solo- short block. I am short and it fits best hip to knee. Love it! Alis comes about every 6 mos. to check the fit, and adjusts it to fit Trado just right. If it doesn’t need it, she does it the next time out to the barn. He’s had it from intro to 4th level, so it has needed adjustments as his body has changed, and I love that we can do that for him. It was a demo saddle that was ready to go out of circulation, so I got a good deal- and it is still going great! 😀

Appreciate you taking the time to educate us a bit about these saddles. After trying to find a used saddle that fit my fellow (17 HHPercheron/TBX, me (5'7" sturdy female who needs an 18"-19" with a long flap) and my pocketbook (the smallest of the three elements in question), I gave up last summer. Still using our Wintec Pro which fits him well, but that doesn't allow me to position my legs the way I would like. I get the squirmies. I didn't have a Custom on the radar, but will keep an eye out up here in Nova Scotia. Thanks and congrats on the sponsorship.

Although my mare and I love our saddle with the adjustable tree and air panels, I've ridden in a Flight on a friend's horse and it felt amazing. It felt like it fit like a glove, amazingly balanced and secure feeling. It will be my next saddle for sure.

Sometimes you have to ride for hours and hours! fluffy and padded is a labor of love ! just love at those times ! you always have to check a saddle for rub marks, sensitive areas- sometimes it's nice to give your horse a break. You can buy or make a bareback pad with stirrups it's a nice for exercise.

I knew it!!! I am in a Wolfgang Solo, 19 inch, short block. The only saddle maker who makes anything bigger than 18.5. I am 5 11 and most of my height is in my femur.

Im the same as you & I'm curious about this: I'm 6' with a short backed horse and was told my 18" is too big (long) for him. I'm not sure how I would fit into anything smaller?

My horse had to be retired as he has DSLD, Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Disease. So I ride other peoples horses, with that being said I do get to ride and show my trainers sale horses. Each horse get the best saddle fitted to them as needed with a variety of manufactures including Custom Saddlery Saddles and others that I cannot recall the brand unfortunately. They prefer monoflaps which I love as well both personally and professionally as I am a human and equine chiropractor. I am lucky to have my trainers support in helping me attain my Bronze Medal. I have two Third Level scores and one First Level as just happen with time and opportunity. The other horses I ride will alway be in saddle fitted for them as well be it an eventing or jump saddle. Regular maintenance and fit is so very important especially as the top line of the horse improves with fitness and training and other factors.

ha ha, firstly forget about saddles but watch the chestnut !! Forza !!!...sun is shining now in California , smile, so pretty eye catching, exciting horse ........ok I have an Passier "A Tempi " ( Germany Hannover ) dressage saddle and a Cliff Barnsby "luxus" ( english one ) dressage saddle - not available any more and my favourite cause no "seat prothesis" ( Sitzprothese in german ) - and Pfiff "Amaretto" dressage (german one ) for other horses....I dont like saddles pressing you into something stiff , I need the freedom to balance with the horse movement to open upper legs if its needed

Pferdecoach : ditto here on the sitzprothese! I was going to rattle on about old out-of-production saddles...I'd give anything to find another "21st century" close-contact jumping(only thing better than the Hermes!!), but its not so helpful to a dressage discussion. Basically, i never had the luxury of riding a dressage saddle that considered ME.....catch and rehab riding most of my life. I decided(age 12) never to own but to ride "everyone's elses".....it paid better!

I currently have a Schlessse Obrigado which I like quite a bit. When I bought my first horse 3 years ago, her owner had just gotten her the Obrigado. So of course I had to purchase the saddle as well. It’s the only saddle I have ridden in, but because you like the Custom I will certainly investigate one further. The land of saddles and saddle fitting can be a tad overwhelming !! Thank you as always.

Hard for me to justify spending more money than my horse is even worth on a saddle. I would love to obviously. Maybe in another few years. I’m having to purchase new saddles for my guy right now. I had old generation Pessoa and collegiate from when bates was the manufacturer. Now I’m switching to Thorowgood.

Devoucoux dressage saddle fits me like it was made on a mold of my butt!
