SKLZ - 6x Speed Hurdles. There are different brands as well. Amazon, Dicks, Big 5, or any sports stores have them. They also come in different sizes, colors, and designs.

I tossed whiffle balls to my daughter with her having a wide stance and not moving her feet like they were in cement. Easy tosses first and then progressed to harder tosses. Then we used softballs after a week. It worked for her after a few weeks. She lost that fear of the ball coming towards her. I don't know if that's orthodox for some coaches but it worked for her. I honestly believe most girls get hurt for being in fear of the ball and bad mechanics.

I used foam balls first with my daughter, then rubber balls, she is only 8 so we are now at semi hard softballs. So basically throw a bunch of foam balls and have them not catch but just bat them away. Get them use to getting comfortable with a ball being thrown at them. Them practice witch direction they are holding the glove when catching. When it come to catching start again with foam balls.
