Spot on! Im a 17 handicapper that have lost my game fractionally. Got myself a Qi10 Max and im happy with more fairways and longer drives from my previous driver.

Great video. I loved it when you loft your driver up.... I'm a senior golfer, play off 20 plus, using my trusty Callaway XR lifted upto 15. 1/2. Just put in a ladies shaft and have found 20 more yards!

Like many golfers the Ping G430 max is the driver we would choose. Having found a consistent driver my handicap is now a single figure.

The Ping clubs are certainly popular for some but the ‘turbulators’ on the crown were what pushed me away, even though the numbers I got were near identical my TSR3

An interesting topic Dan. I like the way you have categorised golfets in these brackets. I wouldn't have considered the PXG Driver but will include it in the options when I next get fit for a new Driver.

Which ever driver goes 300 yards with a 5 to 7 yard draw, and a perfect launch window, I'll buy that one. PS would my 70 year old, sub 90 swing speed be be a prohibitive factor? Cheque book waiting at the ready.

The subject of drivers to fit handicap is always an interesting (and to some, controversial) subject! As an example, as a 11 index golfer, being fitted (and enjoying) into TSR3 came as a surprise! I think driver choice comes to performance/looks/price - and looks are very individual-
@ajaytuk7416Ай бұрын
Can you do a version of this but for swing speed- I think it is perhaps more relevant than handicap?
@paulwills3774Ай бұрын
Agree, many players with fast swing speeds and good ball striking but cant chip/putt for toffee
@DanHendriksenGolfАй бұрын
I don’t disagree with this at all, however we could head down a rabbit hole with swing path, face position, angle of attacks, all of which will have a huge impact on what driver will work best for the golfer. This is why I always say, get fitted 👍
@paulessom1926Ай бұрын
@@DanHendriksenGolf I like the concept of this video although don’t believe handicap is the best criteria to use. How about using common ball flights tendencies so 1) Slices 2) Hooks 3) Too Low 4) Too High 5) Starts right and goes further right 6) Starts left and goes further left etc
@ajaytuk7416Ай бұрын
@@DanHendriksenGolf Thanks for replying- I am being a bit selfish in context- I would like to see the best driver for distance for lower swing speed single digit golfers- ie those that have reasonable strike characteristics

Defo want to try the black ops, went from a gen4 xf to the normal gen6, I hit some bombs but not as forgiving as the gen4 xf. Black ops hopefully get the best of both of them!

u can't divide drivers like this. I use triple diamond coming back to golf after 20 years hiatus. This driver in 10.5 has a perfect trajectory for me and I use weight forward and swing well over 100 with it. I couldn't go lower loft though and I need to maintain high speed to keep the carry and spin as I want it. Dispersion has really not that much do with clubs, and I rather work on my swing with something that feels like a weapon than some enormous soft bladed face. I tried a ping g430 and was really disappointed. there is so too much swing resistance, the carbon face (or iron) feels mushy when hit unlike the titanium in the triple diamond. It s like night and day to swing these clubs and although the triple diamond isn't as easy to get a good hit, it will absolutely fly even on bad ones. Setting the weight back does help with consistency, but I found that weight forward worked much better for me - the more punchy delivery, the different ball trajectory. U will effortlessly hit this long. Really long. but it is not easy. Sure. It's not a driver I can use as fairway finder, the low spin makes it drop if not swung at faster club speeds. The ball just dies. For that I use my tsr2 5 wood down lofted or a 4 driving iron.

An interesting video there Dan, I wonder if a 29+ handicapper is going to want to spend £500 on a brand new driver, or would they be better to buy a decent secondhand driver from the like of golf bidder..?

The Ping G430 is incredibly popular and a top all-round performer, certainly worthy of consideration. I considered it when I was fitted. Hard for me to get past looking down at those turbulators on the crown while at address. Ughh. A real put off for me. I found another top performer with much better looks and have been very pleased with its' performance. That said, many like that Ping Turbulator look and take confidence in it, so it certainly should be looked at.

I’m am surprised to hear that the G430 is the top seller over the last 16 months, where is this count coming from? It was a toss up between the G430 10k and the PXG and I felt that the PXG Black opps offered a little more, just my opinion and please be aware I have nothing against Ping, we stock Ping in my Pro Shop at Churston, they offer a lot for our business 👍

I was fitted for G430 max, it span like crazy, i play a windy course, so that went after only 3 months, my fitter then said, “yes they do spin a bit”, i now play an AiSmoke max 9 degrees. with a fitted stiff shaft, 2300 spin, great distance and dispersion, wouldn’t change it for anything,

You're right on the looks part. I happily play the also understated but sharp looking (and underrated) Mizuno ST Z 230 on hcp14 dialed up to 11.5. Was not fitted to it (it was a ex demo bargain) but it had a shaft that I knew would fit me. Definitely was a step up from my then 10 y old X2Hot.. more forgiving, higher stability leaving the impression that the face squares itself up automatically (it doesn't of course but it works for me mentally)
@leeloopatsy22 күн бұрын
😅 The only way to know which driver is the one for you is to get fitted. Try different brands, shafts and lofts. Then eventually one will speak to you. No matter what your handicap is or how weird your swing may look. Besides don’t need to know what drivers are used bu the pros because they are bespoke tools made especially for them. There are not at all the clubs you’re going to find in the pros shops.
