I absolutely love your channel. My dad is Mexican and my mom is White. So grew up all over the place as far as food. My dad's family taught my mom a lot of basics so for being American she can whip out some good enchiladas and friojles. So my MOM actually taught me the Mexican dishes she was taught by my dads ex wife and family. But after we move to Minnesota we are ISOLATED (from good Mexican food...lol...u know Taco John's just doesn't cut it!) So anyways I am always looking to expand on my already limited knowledge of good Mexican dishes! And u showed me and my sister (her name is Estrella! U cant tell I'm Mexican cuz I married a white guy and have white babies..((I love my white babies))and my last name went from being Mexican to Hanson! So most are shocked when I tell them I'm half Mexican. But I was actually named after Amanda Miguel my dads favorite singer when I was born. My mom still has one of her record albums! (Yes my middle name is Miguel) anyways enough about me...I just want to say that watching you reminds me of may family that is so far away and I feel like watching you has brought me back to my roots! So thank you for that! ❤❤❤❤❤Lots of love from Minnesota p.s. I get to go visit my daddy in Tijuana this spring so I am excited about that and cant wait to have some Carnitas!...(u should do a video on carnitas.)

An immersion blender works wonderfully for refried beans. Asked for one for Christmas last year. It’s changed my life for soups too
@DedeSoulchild11 ай бұрын
I personally wouldn’t use an immersion blend blender. It creams way too much and good refried frijoles have texture of some of the beans not being totally crushed.
@angelajensen494711 ай бұрын
@@DedeSoulchild I actually take out a cup of the beans before I blend and add them back in after so I get some chunks. But hey, everyone likes things differently. I was just saying what I like to do.

Thanks for the tip! I have an immersion blender & hadn’t thought of using it for this. I also like your idea of separating out some of the beans to add them back in after the mashing process. Thanks again💁♀️

Love them pinto frijoles. I'm going to try adding the onion and Chile for a better taste. My Mom always told me when transferring the beans from the pot to the pan with oil not to let the spoon touch the oil. The beans left in the pot will spoil quickly if oil is introduced. Not sure if it's true but I'm always careful about that

when do you put the bacon fat in?
@theresahoffman74444 жыл бұрын
@@deborahv.169, I melt the bacon fat, a couple of tablespoons or more, depending on the amount of beans. When the bacon fat is melted and hot, I add my beans and then mash them till creamy. Then I simmer till beans are incorporated and start to bubble. Then add your cheese of choice.

@@deborahv.169 All vegetable oils are extremely bad for your health first of all. Second, using bacon fat or lard really makes them taste fantastic and authentic. Vegetable oil gives zero flavor and it'll kill you.

👍👍👍Lard or bacon fat is the ONLY way to make authentic Mexican style beans. Once you abandon the lard, you abandon the Mexican. Not hate'n. Just state'n. Awesome video still. 😁 Vegetable oil is a modern day creation that will one day be seen for what it is... a Frankensteinian poison.
