I think Porter Robinson deserves an honorable mention either for nurture or for worlds in an eventual part 2. Even if the production is not on par with the likes shown here, I feel his influence in the scene plus his side projects really earn him the place. Great video!

The production on Worlds is fantastic. The synths are glistening and pristine, with flourishes of game-like sounds, synth drum fills and use of vocaloid that give the album such a unique identity among it's contemporaries. Meanwhile, Nurture is kept fairly minimal in production, letting the lyrics and the melodies speak for themselves and conjuring a serene atmosphere. In these senses, I think the production is just as good as anything listed in the video

Some albums that should be listened at least once : The Field - From Here We Go Sublime (amazingly done microsampled house) Autechre - Confield (way more unhinged than Aphex Twin, their discography is amazing) 808 State - 90 (creative old school house) Any Kraftwerk from Autobahn to Electric Café/Techno Pop (the robots before Daft Punk) The Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender and Further (their whole discog is amazing tho) Kaytranada - 99.9% (Flying Lotus if he did RnB) Boards Of Canada - Twoism, MHTRTC and The Campfire Headphase LCD Soundsystem - Self-Titled and Sound Of Silver Brain Eno - Another Green World (electronic classic) Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Architecture And Morality, Dazzle Ships (creative synthpop) Floating Points - Crush (the first half is amazing and expressive IDM) Hudson Mohawke - Cry Sugar (not the best album pacing but creative production) Future Sound Of London - Dead Cities, Lifeforms (early 90s psychedelic ambient music) The Orb - U.F.Orb (same but more progressive) Soulwax - Nite Versions (incredible production with rock influences) Underworld - 1992-2002 (better than listening to their actual albums personally) Roni Size/Reprazent - New Forms (Jungle done right) The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land (that one big beat trio) Edit : Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillon (Electro Pop on Steroids) Fatboy Slim - Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars Massive Attack - Mezzanine I might have forgotten something, but I was really surprised to see no Chemical Brothers on this list considering that they are the british equivalent of Daft Punk. I have to say, In Colour was a great choice

Here's some of mine that I would add! (excluding anything from Radiohead or Aphex Twin) 1) Nurture by Porter Robinson. He mixes the sounds of Japanese folk with euphoric dance pop so well. It's an album as cathartic as it is intimate and beautiful. 2) Skin by Flume for the otherworldly sound design and incredibly curated features. His mixtape Hi, This is Flume is totally up there as well. 3) Caribou, Our Love, for the playful sound of indie rock woven in with calming electronics 4) Machine Girl's Wlfgrl is up there as well, for taking various drum and bass genres and breathing new life into them for a fun and creative explosion of sound 5) M83, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, for the beautifully cinematic (yet not overdone) shoegazy production and painfully nostalgic lyrics.

“Immersion” by Pendulum should have gotten at the very least, an honorable mention. It is easily the best Drum & Bass album of the 21st century. I can hardly think of any modern-day D&B song that had actually left me speechless. It baffles me to see that there’s barely anyone making D&B like Pendulum anymore. It’s one of the few D&B albums that actually makes me feel like I’m going through a journey, and witnessing a satisfying end to it. “Encoder” is easily one of the best album closers ever. Period. Not to mention the amount of experimentation with sound, and genres in the album, you get an incredible dubstep song like “Set Me On Fire”, a house track like “The Island”, and a metalcore/D&B fusion with “Self vs Self”. Despite being different from the other tracks on the album, they all fit perfectly, and bring the album to bigger heights with their interesting sound. A lot of people still listen to the album, but it hardly feels like most modern-day D&B producers haven’t picked up on the lessons they could learn from Pendulum.

An album with zero skips. It’s a classic. Of pendulums albums, they really found ‘their’ sound by immersion. Hold your colour was very British jungle/garage type DnB with lots of samples. ‘In Silico’ (my favourite album) is where they were finding their feet to become that pendulum sound. With more vocals from Rob, they found that rock DnB flair. ‘The tempest’ is a fantastic album closer too. Immersion, with loud punchy guitars, pounding drums and tasty synths with some great features and Rob Swire singing his heart out. I also like that the final track, encoder, ends with a underwater swishing as if to say it’s over. And then their follow up track, Driver starts with the sound of water anda man gasping for breath as if to say ‘we’re back’

I'm torn about this. I much prefer Pendulum's older work, before they became a live band. Hold your colour is a great album and I never really liked what they did after that. It's weird, because I grew up on rock and metal, and am also massively into DnB, and produce it myself, but I just really don't like the crossover. I think a lot of producers have been heavily influenced by Pendulum, but the style of dancefloor DnB they were making back in the early to mid 2000's, while looked back on fondly, doesn't really fly in todays scene.

Jon Hopkins' Immunity is my favourite album of all time - I'd have been interested to hear your thoughts on it but top 12 doesn't have the same ring. If you were looking to explore different angles of electronic music, I would always point to Nils Frahm or Bonobo (particularly Migration).

It is really nice to see you touch a bit on the electronic world! Amazing selection! In a more experimental realm (and maybe for your own curiosity) here are a few other albums that are worth checking imo: Culprate - Delivrance Feed Me - Feed Me's Big Adventure Calvin Harris (before the EDM fame) - I Created Disco LSDREAM - Voyager I also realize that not a lot of artists in electronic music are releasing albums, a lot of EPs but not a lot of full length experiments.
