Since 2015 everyone feels special after beating a hellcat just like how it is for GT-R since 2008. For me, hellcat is a true carguy type of car with supercar levels of power from factory and tuner levels of customizations and upgrades that you can do yourself in your garage. i personally own a 2018 challenger hc, it is my 3rd challenger (after Gt and Scatpack) if you want a car with all in one, go for Charger hellcat, a nice 4 door practical sedan with 700+ hp, a lot of space inside and comfortable seats. as mentioned it is capable of emptying gas tank in 13 minutes on full throttle, on the other hand if you run on eco mode you can get ~24-25mpg on a highway. Enjoy these cars before ev's take over and V8s disappear.

Damn what a dream car! I live in Germany and would love a high powered American car, but unfortunately they are all incredibly expensive, even the base models without much power since they are very exotic here. They have to be imported from the USA and go to very special and strict registration process and they need quite a few parts changed to be road legal in Germany/Europe. This makes them 50%-100% more expensive then in the USA.. Even messed up worktrucks with a V8 cost at least 10k even rusted and with 250k miles and clapped out bushings etc. The us car market is very unfortunate here :( The problem is that you don’t get the euro cars cheaper, BMWs etc are way more expensive then in the USA if you look at the factory pricing, don’t ask me why.. I have a V8 it’s my Mercedes 500SL R129 Roadster from 1989 which is also very cool and I love driving it! But I still desire an fast American car and would swap them in a heartbeat. Also I have two bmw e36 with the amazing inline six engine and manual transmission. Those are amazingly fast and nimble cars who feel amazing in corners and on the track and are very lightweight thats why I love them and wouldn’t give them away! Bit since the US cars are the complete opposite, power cruisers with great comfort, but unbelievably high hp numbers and that always fascinated me a lot and I dream about such a car :) Have fun with your Hellcat! I really envy you and wish one day to at least have a drive in one, even if it’s the passenger site I’d be fine. Enjoy your weekend and best regards from Germany :)

Codeman they are iconic because the motor is so well built from factory. These motors were good for double it’s factory hp without touching internals. There are so many examples of people just pumping up boost or replacing turbos only and still have a reliable motor. It’s not because of the boost, it’s because of the build quality.

@RiloElton6 жыл бұрын
As soon as you say BMW, it can't be helped.
@eaglefat93986 жыл бұрын
2jz is nothing special, its fame comes from being one of the first engines to exploited turbos which back in the 90's wasn't understood so people falsely equated its hp number to the engine, end of the day its a 3.0L that weighs 600lbs (LS1 is 425lbs) the deck is not that strong and if you magnafluxed any of those high hp blocks you'd see stress cracks, the heads don't flow anything special, low red line because of a heavy long stoke crank, and even though its forged the rods are still thiner then any of the forged muscle car engines from the 60's.
@eaglefat93986 жыл бұрын
Im not saying its bad, but its a cultural icon that doesn't necessarily make it a great engine, kinda like the small block Chevy was for 50 yeas even though just about every other GM v8 was a better engine Buick,Pontiac,Oldsmobile,Cadillac big and small block were almost all better engineered but chevy got the love . Same with 2jz most iron block engine can make those numbers if you gave it the same attention (except for a few duds) Not to mention 2jz cars were never fast for there power until recently.
@eaglefat93986 жыл бұрын
600lbs is what a big block 454cid/7.4L(alum head) weighs, never said the block is weak but its not the super block it gets made out to be, rather it suffer the same problems any other engine would have with head gasket sealing and metal fatigue especially with only 4 head bolts per cylinder. 600hp even 700 is really good for a stock 3.0L but once turbos true potential was fully realized there were all kinda of engines making what seems like crazy power, buick 3.8L, RB26, 1uz, hell there are guys that boost Cadillac 4.6 northstars up to 800hp and the old caddy 500cid/8.1L (which weighed 600lbs) are used for land speed engines and is in the world's fastest gasoline powered car - 415 MPH! , its a great engine however it just doesn't do anything any other engine dose but weighs 200lbs more then it should so why is it great?

Basic utilitarian design for performance cars, all useless weight needs to go, and Dodge's have a LOT of useless weight considering they are several hundred pounds heavier than their competitors. That said the real reason the Hellcat/Challenger/whatever will not lose weight is likely the existence of the ACR.

Ideas for the best engines? 1.9 TDI
@andrewkach82586 жыл бұрын
This is a great channel for straightforward, simple enough for an average car person to understand automotive engineering aspects of vehicle design. I appreciate that the level @ times is oversimplified so that the large majority of viewers can absorb the information. Large old fashion V8 (heavy) running a massive blower (it alone needs more than 100hp to operate @ this boost level), in a very heavy car. The overall weight of a vehicle is a crucial aspect of all vehicle design. So a (high performance) petrol engine running a huge blower produces some 112 hp per liter, is not high. It is inefficient, to say the least. There are normally aspirated (none turbo/supercharged) production engines available worldwide with better specific power outputs. Then there are boosted engines, that will put this old axe to shame as far as specific power outputs are concerned. The USA once was the leader of all things auto, unfortunately, this engine shows what happens when industry fails to continue to update its technology and move with the times. Perhaps if we disregard size and weight aspects, a vid on a massive "semi" (700 hp+) truck engine could be of interest, as per some Volvo's and Scania's etc.

For ordinary users, Bluetooth OBD scanners are more suitable. They can also do full-system diagnosis and also provide special tools like Reset BLEED, Reset TBMS, Reset TDPF, Reset Oil, Immobilizer/Keys and so on. EZcheck and EasyDiag are both good choice.

It's a powerful engine but power per size... the average Ford Ecoboost makes MORE torque per liter than this engine. The next Ford GT will make near this power out of a 3.5 Liter I'll still take this car over any ricer. I am just merely pointing out that while it is a high output engine, it isn't any marvel for that output based on it's displacement given the tech of modern engines.
@michabogdanowicz89016 жыл бұрын
hackfreehvac its actually a good thing, less stress on components and in general better reliability with bigger displacement engine
@michabogdanowicz89016 жыл бұрын
Also fords engine torque comes from turbocharger.. And dodge has supercharger whoch doesn't really affect torque curve
@angelortuno15676 жыл бұрын
You’re also comparing an engine from a half a million dollar car compared to a $70k dollar car let’s have Chrysler make a half a million dollar car and see how well the gt stands up to it
@optimusboy16 жыл бұрын
angel ortuno they did in 04.... The me412 which was theoretically capable of 248mph with 7-speed sequential shift trans, it got cancelled for some reason probably cost (it was almost all carbon fiber) or the germans that owned chrysler at the time were pissed that the americans pulled off a better car than the flagship slr in only 18 months, from a simple idea to a full fledged prototype

I wouldn't be surprised if dodge soon comes out with a viper that's just as powerful as the demon to kill the new corvette and the Ford gt and then a new challenger that they will probably call just "hell" or "demon readeye" with over 1k horses to the wheels. Those mfs are crazy and they have proven to have no limits.

I don't see how these engines are special. Nearly every single hellcat I see gets eaten by whatever its racing.
@MrYeahbuddah6 жыл бұрын
madrx2 the Hellcat/Demon are benchmark cars imo. They are being compared to 300k+ cars which is amazing considering the demon is less than 90k and the Hellcat is starting to drop into the 40k range
@madrx26 жыл бұрын
Brian c6 zo6 is faster in a straight line. But I guess it's much lighter.
@seanf56346 жыл бұрын
The engine is special because you have a WARRANTY for over 700 horsepower out of the factory (800 for the demon). Think about that for a minute, you can beat on this engine for 5 years or 60K miles and you are covered if the engine blows up. Anyone can build a high horsepower engine, but how many can build it with a warranty of 5 year/60K miles?
@kenik20236 жыл бұрын
Sean F That doesn't seem to make people sit up. They'd rather blow their block and pay thru the nose to have someone rebuild it.

The hell cat is a big car. It's really not meant to compete with the vette or the camaro the viper was though. Viper was a beast with that 8.4 liter v10. The 6.2 liter corvette needs a supercharger to match it. I'am a big corvette fan but the viper deserves cred

This engine is quite a lot more impressive than I expected it to be. Also I love how the cooling air comes from the headlights. But 18l/100km in the city is absolutely ridiculous. I guess that's one reason why you barely ever see muscle cars in Europe...
@darvelllarickpowell6 жыл бұрын
considering I had this next engine suggestion on 2 separate occasions, the 1st in my 2010 Ford Taurus SHO & 2nd in my 2013 Lincoln Mk.S Ecoboost, I nominate the highest output version found in the Ford GT! For both of my examples, I slightly modified them with Pulstar Pulse plugs & K&N Filters... I also had Michelin Pilot Sport tires & a StopTech rotor/pad setup... so when most people tried to take me at the lights or on Mulholland, they got taken!

It might be a bit of a stretch, but a video going in depth about Mazda Rotary Engines would be super sick to see, since they've been covered multiple times on the channel before. Of course, given their relative obscurity I don't blame you if that's not feasible, but it's a suggestion nonetheless :) Loving your videos EE, please keep them up!

I get that same mileage as this in my old V8 Ford. Then again, it only makes 21% of the horsepower and 46% of the torque. Technology sure has improved.

Not sure if it won any awards but I’d be interested in you going over the LT5 that was in the early 90’s ZR1. Was always fascinated by that decision to put a Lotus engine in a Vette.
