I think by "mined strategic objects" they mean objectives for the destruction gamemode.

Damn, a lot more of the old event squads are going to become much more viable, some maybe even stronger than tech tree squads. The MG42 Early squad with 5 machine guns (2 of the gunners are engineers) and now an AT soldier makes this already good squad extremely competitive with the tech tree mg squads. Also some old event squads and premiums like the usmc thompson raiders, colt monitor, charleton autorifle, mg35, mp41 etc. are going to be extremely strong picks. Sadly there are still no improvements for the riflemen premiums, which arguably need help the most.

I'm hoping this is just the start and we get more buffs to old squads down the line. Don't forget about the poor riflemen, they're still waiting for engineers.

Do they still get the premium weapons? The last time they added engineers to old squads, they could only use standard rifles

no, i went on the dev server earlier, ill upload it tomorrow, but you upgrade it like any other squad, it adds one more slot for either an engineer or an at soldier, but they are a normal non premium soldier. they do adapt the squad's outfit, however, you can put gold order soldiers in there.
