Back in the 70's I was spending the night with a friend in Ypsilanti MI. We were awakened at about 7 AM by a pounding on the door. My friend went to the door where he was ordered out of the house. They came into the bedroom where they ordered me out of the house at gunpoint. They didn't identify themselves. I went out on the porch where I was confronted with a semicircle of armed men that I later learned were police. Some of them questioned us and some searched the house. About the time they finished the search one of the officers in the semicircle yelled 'we got the wrong house. It is the one next door' . By this time the people next door had left by the back door. We later learned that some guys had kidnapped the wife of the bank president and held her hostage so the husband would assist them in robbing the bank. None of the officers apologized for scaring the crap out of us and having us out on the porch in our scanty night clothes. The wife was released unharmed. Don't know if they caught the bank robbers.

@@benh4569 I have never heard of the movie. But in real life it was not fun. I was scared crapless and never spent another night in his house. After that he came to my house. I had never had a gun pointed at me before--nor since. It was over 55 years ago and it still bothers me. I have nothing against police because my dad was one but not identifying themselves and their uniforms from the front had nothing to identify them as cops--it was scary. Didn't help that my friend lived in a bad neighborhood.

I put this on every night to fall asleep too. It’s the only crime show that doesn’t give me nightmares. The other day some klu klux clan history documentary came on and I swear I was fighting demons in my sleep man. Horrible shit. I love the older stuff it gives you just enough to have interesting dreams and it’s not crass enough to be harmful to the mental health. I believe it’s because it seems like tv and movie magic. Although when I’m watching it cognitively I have such empathy and emotions for the victims.

@TwistedRootsMelody

@@user-dq9bk7ec9cextra time for attempting escape always seemed especially cruel to me. Everyone agrees slavery is evil, yet we expect prisoners to just calmly accept their fate. It's human nature to reject confinement. I saw a video of a man in court who was very upset and started arguing with the judge. He clearly was confused by what was happening. Instead of just shutting him down the judge just kept adding more time every time the man spoke. An extra 3 years just because he lost his composure in the courtroom. It's inhumane 😢

In the Netherlands (just as in Germany) escaping from prison isn't illegal, unless you use violence ofcourse. But if you manage to dig a tunnel and escape, they'll try to catch you again so you can finish your sentence (without chance on parol this time). One of the Dutch historical heroes is Hugo de Groot. The man escaped prison hiding in a book chest. He litterally let himself carry out of prison and seriously, streets have been named after him (Hugo de Grootstraat).

Watching the Independence Day Breakout--it is amazing that those seven men did not kill another person. I am glad that the law enforcement involved in three states plus the FBI showed such professionalism and restraint and good judgement in capturing these men, without harming the public in anyway. This, in my mind was very good police work. I was also impressed with the negotiators in the Atlanta Prison Riots who seemed to keep calm heads and give the Cuban rioters the benefit of the doubt they they did not really want to harm their hostages, but were in fact desperate for help in deciding their INS Cases. I am glad our government dealt with that situation in a fair manner. It is too bad our INS is so overwhelmed that they cannot do that know in 2023 with detainees and people needing help today!

These guys were not your average refugees they're criminals that Castro wanted to get rid off and people with severe mental health issues that would endanger the public. Castro wasn't the first leader to pull that stunt. Personally I'd put them all on a boat back to Cuba. I have seen what that soft attitude cost to ordinary people. I mean criminals etc not the average refugees of course, they're a different story altogether.

@@TwistedRootsMelody I worded like that because even though my daughter's baby's daddy committed child support fraud among other things, and his attorney, Jessica Tate, being his cousin helped him the government has done nothing to correct this mistake. They said my daughter should get a lawyer, we did, it cost us $4,000.00, and they did nothing because the attorney was a pal of theirs, they gave us back $400, saying the rest was in administrative fees, we never went to court, they never filed against the baby's daddy or anything and this is our jutice system at work especially here in Oklahoma. This town has been doing wrong since its conception. It started with the Native American taking money from the government to corral them in so call schools. Then there's the oil, they used the William Brothers to give them the money to transport it. Now we have a greedy governor who has been taking millions from the tribes, and he insist on more. You wonder why this is Why. "Type in Google a list of all of the casinos in Oklahoma, at the end of that list it will tell you". The baby daddy has not let my grandson talk to my daughter, we are suppose to have visitation, it is a court order THIS IS WHY...

They are convicted felons! HELLO! Why are these three prisoners all together on ONE car with ONE officer? I know it is a relaxed lifestyle down there, but c'mon--no way would I trust convicted felons to sit quietly UNCUFFED--driving through an isolated countryside--and NOT expect something. In the last segment a woman said she didnt realize she could go to jail for leaving a car, gun and clothes for two escapees. Hopefully she got time, i notice when someone helps a fugitive nothing happens to them.
