The BEST experience of my Life! Freediving with Humpbacks in Tonga

Freediving with Humpback Whales surpassed all my expectations! I arrived in Tonga with Alexey Molchanov and a small group of divers to explore the Tongan waters and dive with humpbacks.
The water was clear, the weather was perfect, the company was great and the whales were incredible! I didn't realise that humpback whales can be so interactive and interested in humans. This was the best diving experience of my life.

Sorry to hear about the bad news man): awesome video. I haven’t been on many dives but I too have dove with whales. I use to live on the island St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. On our lunch break from doing boat maintenance we head out to a little barren island called Saba rock to grab some lobster for lunch but as soon as we got into the water we heard whales and got back in the dinghy and went to swim with them. They were about 300 meters away. So we met up with them and swam around for a bit. Just like you, it was the most amazing experience in my entire life. I feel like now, what else in life is there to top that? I mean, the shear size of them while swimming with them just takes your breath away. All I remember doing was just staring at them. Glad the currents weren’t too strong that day because we just jumped out of the dinghy and it was slowly floating away! We got it back though. All was....whale. There’s my pun for ya! I have seen some of these videos where the whale just kind of hovers in the water, almost completely still- I would love to see a film of a free diver barefoot, walking from nose back to maybe 20-30 feet along the top of a whale! It was extraordinary :) you can get over your fear by exposing yourself slowly slowly to deeper water. Just take your time and never push yourself too fast
