Paro Airport (IATA: PBH, ICAO: VQPR) is the only international airport of Bhutan. The airport is located 6 km (3.7 mi) from Paro in a deep valley on the bank of the river Paro Chhu at an elevation of 7,300 ft (2,200 m).
With surrounding peaks as high as 18,000 ft (5,500 m) it is considered one of the world's most challenging airports, and as of October 2014, only 25 pilots in the world are certified to land at the airport. Flights at Paro are allowed under visual meteorological conditions only and are restricted to daylight hours from sunrise to sunset.Aircraft: Drukair Airbus 319

Average pilot couldn’t land it better even on a regular airport with ILS, absolutely amazing evasion, approach and landing by the pilot in the video! Nice flare at the end and gentle touchdown. Fantastic!

Good god that is wild . It’s a nice day wind blowing down the runway . I can’t imagine what it would be like with low visibility & a crosswind. I saw this approach from the cockpit on a travel a Blog “Kara & Nate”. Poor Kara was not a fan of this type of flying. It is a wild approach.

I tried landing at this airport in P3D, I‘m normally a pretty decent pilot as I fly gliders in real life but good christ I didn‘t even come close to a succesful landing at this airport. I touched down at 150 knots and overran the runway - With full brakes applied.

Someone 150 is way too high, normally approach is 130 kts. Plus profile is steep. It’s not the conventional 3 degrees. They are some reference points to aim for during the approach

Maybe it's the best long & flat area you can find in your small country of hills & mountains? An area with a modicum of infrastructure & people & roads? In the 1950's when they first started planning? Just saying. .... .... Btw, it could also be that it was originally a helicopter base.. Turning into the runway during the final mile is not at all normal and at any normal airport would be considered extremely reckless. The reason you don't see anyone have difficulty with it is that the only people allowed to perform the approach are specially trained.
