I think the comparation is about the SF3's Target Combos and FF3's Combination Arts. Both are really similar. All the four Real Bout series (+ Wild Ambition) updated the FF3's Combination Arts by the Combination Attacks.
Fatal Fury 3, it might not be my favorite Fatal Fury but I always LOVED the presentation and personality this game oozed with. This is also where the rest of the series going forward (the Real Bout games) gets its look from. Also no, Garou is definitely the “Third Strike” of Fatal Fury. It was SNK’s direct answer to SF3. FF3 and the following Real Bout games were more like the equivalent of the Alpha series in SF.

FATAL FURY 3! At the time, this was THE best Fatal Fury game, I'm sure! lol I gotta say, I am INCREDIBLY surprised Max lost as many times as he did! O_O Like... He struggled against Joe and Hon Fu of all people! I'm not smacktalking him or anything, this game is hard but... Joe and Hon Fu?! When I played this game for the first time (in a decade) last year, Joe was easy and Hon Fu was too! The people who gave ME the most trouble were Franco Bash, Sokaku (ESPECIALLY), Yamazaki (sorta) and Jin Chonshu (who Max did not fight... more on that below). But this game is, admittedly, a little easier than the past two games... Keywords: A LITTLE. lol But this game has such a ROCKING soundtrack! I love it! I've got quite a bit to say, so sit down and grab a snack or something. It's Fun Factoid time~ (Read the past parts if you missed the facts for FF1 and FF2/FFS!) - Fatal Fury 3 is the beginning of the graphic evolution SNK began to have! This would continue into Real Bout Special, KOF '96, and especially Garou: MOTW! The best looking SNK fighting game on the Neo Geo, I'd say! And these games were all on the same system! They weren't like Capcom who made a CPS1, CPS2, and CPS3! They just kept upgrading the hardware on the same system! Impressive but also costly! ^^; Might've been part of the reason SNK went bankrupt back in 2000. But SNK bounced back steadily, no worries! There were some bumpy rides, but they made sure to tell the fans that they were back with KOF 14! - Geese Howard is still alive!? But how!? Well, this game's story involves various fighters searching for the "Jin Scrolls", powerful artifacts said to only be obtained by the strongest fighter. Geese managed to obtain one of them long ago, the Scroll of Immortality. THAT'S how he managed to survive in Fatal Fury 1, but he DID get injured. Therefore, Geese (supposedly) put up a Geese Howard impostor to take his place while he healed during the events of FF2 and Billy was actually there to get rid of the impostor... This isn't brought up in the game itself, strangely enough. But yeah, Geese survived and is back (for REAL, not in the non-canon Fatal Fury Special lol). - I'm spoiling Real Bout's events, but I bet some are wondering: Why is Real Bout Geese's official death (save for the KOF series)? Before the events of Real Bout 1, Geese actually managed to grab all three of the Jin Scrolls...and he burned them. Yup. However, it's kind of a smart reason: He did it so it's power could never be used by anyone which means he had no one who could oppose him with these scrolls. They would have to beat him with their own skills and power... Doesn't stop Terry from knocking him out of his tower for the 2nd time. XD - Fatal Fury 3 marks the debut of two memorable mainstays: Blue Mary Ryan and, best boy, Ryuji Yamazaki! - Contrary to popular belief, Blue Mary and Terry AREN'T dating though they are heavily implied to be love interests to one another whether it's in the Fatal Fury series or KOF series. The developers directly stated that Blue Mary was designed after Android 18 from Dragon Ball Z and this game (and Real Bout 1) makes this SUPER OBVIOUS lol. Did you know? Blue Mary actually has a distant relative who's a playable character in Garou: MOTW! His name is Kevin Rian (it might actually be "Ryan", but it could've been an intentional misspelling). Blue Mary once had a lover named Butch and she along with her father worked in the secret service. However, Blue Mary's father and lover were shot and killed during a mission to protect the president. The jacket she's often wearing is from Butch as a keepsake. Since those events, she became a freelancer which is how she ended up in South Town during the events of Fatal Fury 3. It's also through these events that she meets Terry Bogard and they become well acquainted with one another. - Love him or hate him, Ryuji Yamazaki is SNK's resident psycho! I've got a bit to say about this guy. Yamazaki in his debut game (this one) was actually pretty chill. He wouldn't become unhinged until his exaggerated self appeared in Real Bout Fatal Fury Special. When KOF brought him over to KOF '97, they based his mannerisms off his Real Bout Special appearance, so thank them for how Yamazaki is presented today! lol Speaking of KOF 97, the game actually revealed that Ryuji Yamazaki is one of Orochi's Hakkesshu; meaning he has the blood of Orochi! HOWEVER! Yamazaki proves to be superior to Leona and Iori who can't control the Orochi Blood... in that Yamazaki is SO unhinged that he doesn't give two flying shits about Orochi! No one can tame Yamazaki! HAHAHAHAHA!! X'D "Honki ni saseta temee ga warui da ze!" (It's too bad I'll allow you to see how serious I am!) - A younger Yamazaki was once an orphan in Okinawa, where American troops came around numerous times. But, he met a Yakuza Boss named Sorimachi and Yamazaki decided to be just like him, even eventually working under him as a fellow Yakuza, where he saw Sorimachi as a "father" of sorts. Unfortunately, a rival gang managed to kidnap Sorimachi and torture him to death. This death resulted in Yamazaki becoming unhinged and violent. He eventually murdered the entirety of the rival gang and fled to Hong Kong where he now becomes a boss of the Chinese Mafia. In this game, Yamazaki was hired by the Jin Brothers to recover the scrolls and protect them but as you can see, he fails the former. His ending shows that he gets arrested, but Yamazaki just beats the snot out of them and bails. - Believe it or not, Fatal Fury 3 has MULTIPLE ENDINGS, and Max there got the rather rare BAD ENDING. That Bad Ending blocked Max from even having a chance at fighting the Jin Brothers; Jin Chonshu and the even worse Jin Chonrei. I've never gotten such an ending and when I heard that such an ending existed, I barely managed to find a clip online about it, but seeing Max get it was a shocker! Anyway, this game has multiple endings depending on how well you played and how many times you got a continue. You may fight Jin Chonshu in three different stages: A stage with a waterfall and a dragon statue, a stage inside a forest/park (the common one), or the stage where you're inside a temple(?) that catches fire. The latter one means you'll definitely be fighting Jin Chonrei who fights to avenge his "cute little brother" from you. Here's the weird thing though: I don't know if this is applicable for the Arcade Machines themselves, but there's a chance that the endings, whether it's Normal or Good can just... bug out. It just freezes. T.T Weird, right? - Continuing from the endings, Terry's Ending actually introduces Max's favorite SNK character: ROCK HOWARD! Yup! Terry adopts a young Rock Howard after the events of FF3. - Following the events of this game, the Jin Brothers stop being evil and are said to become students of Kim Kaphwan's dojo... this detail is actually seen in Real Bout 1, but eh. Not a lot of people actally like the Jin Bros in a meta-sense which is why they hardly appear in the series aside from a cameo or two. Expect Real Bout 2 to be their last playable appearance... Oh wait, they're playable in Neo Geo Battle Coliseum for some reason. ^^; - Bob Wilson is another character who doesn't appear often as a playable character, but he is actually Richard Meyer's successor (Richard is from Fatal Fury 1 and retired from fighting to resume taking care of his Pao Pao Cafe full time as seen in Terry's endings in FF2/FFS). Bob would be seen various times in Fatal Fury based endings in the KOF series such as KOF 11 and KOF 14 where he's also seen in the Women Fighters Team's ending. Also, a fun fact, Richard Meyer would become playable in KOF: Maximum Impact 2 (though again, the Maximum Impact series is non-canon). - Hon Fu is actually a big enemy to Ryuji Yamazaki as they both hit it off in Hong Kong while Yamazaki became a leader of a Chinese Mafia... But Yamazaki treats Hon Fu like a joke...and he is, especially in later games! But he does take his job as a cop seriously, so you can't fault him for that! And hey, Hon Fu has an incredibly beautiful wife! Who woulda thought~? (Also he's clearly based on Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan lol) - This game has special KO screens that involve the background and foreground~ For example, in Joe's stage, you can knock your opponent (or you can be that victim!) into the lake or knocked into the "Geese Punching Bag". In Hon Fu's Stage, you can actually be knocked into one of the support beams or even get knocked off the platform itself! (Don't worry, the characters actually grab onto the platform to show that they aren't dead lol) - Cheng's in the game, helping Terry (and possibly others) escape Geese's burning tower and into the final Yamazaki fight. He also makes an early appearance in Hon Fu's stage as the one in the helicopter... Also, there's artwork showing Cheng playing golf with Robert Garcia of Art of Fighting fame! - ...Yeah, Terry's pet monkey is the one playing Terry's theme in the game, "Big Shot!". The monkey presses the play button on the radio. How cute~ - So this is a late fact, but the soundtracks to these Fatal Fury games actually have arranged soundtracks! You'll usually find them in the Neo Geo CD versions or other versions like the PlayStation 1 versions, the DreamCast versions, and more. I actually like the arranged version of Franco Bash's theme but much prefer the original version of Joe Higashi's theme. lol Next should be Real Bout Fatal Fury! Might be KOF '94, who knows! I realize that was a liiiittle late uploading today's fun facts, but I couldn't type my stuff out right away! I was busy! X)

Sorry to double post, but just for the benefit of folks who don't know what the 411 is about this game. Geese re-emerged as the president of the Howard connection because he had in his possession a set of ancient scrolls from the Qin dynasty that let him survive falling off the Howard building. The scrolls of immortality, however, ended up getting stolen by Ryuji Yamazaki, who at the time was working for the Chinese mafia under a pair of twins named Chonshu and Chonrei. The REAL nutty part is that Chonshu and Chonrei were posessed by their ancestors, wanting to use the scrolls to actually properly come back from the dead. I think you have to get a certain ammount of points and not continue that much to fight the twins, which is why you don't see them here, but they teleport around like DBZ characters and you fight them in some sort of necropolis filled with dino fossils and skulls that looks more like it should be a Samurai Showdwon stage than a Fatal Fury stage.
@ClexYoshi5 жыл бұрын
most of the character endings result in the scrolls being destroyed by either the purified twins or by Geese Howard himself, who decides he doesn't want them getting stolen again so he just burns them so nobody can ever use the scrolls again.

A testament to SNK amazing innovation, you can switch planes, go in, force the OTHER dude into a different lane, suck him in again and keep chaining. Also, Terry's power dunk became a staple move, he puts his cap on backwards, performs the move, then turns the cap back in, the whole move has like 26 different frames of animation, the first 100+ megabit cart.

@@darksaint0124 Nah, it was way way back in Art of Fighting 1 actually. They were called "desperation moves" and yea Capcom didn't introduce them until years later in SSF2T.
