Aftersun is definitely also my favorite movie of the year! I found myself relating to both Sophie and Callum, and the movie left me really emotional, which doesn't happen often. Also a big fan of EEAAO, particularly the shift with the character of Waymond and the message about kindness as a strength rather than a weakness.

You enjoyed a lot of the same things I did - I'd also HIGHLY recommend Bojack Horseman, it's comedy/satire and drama and really captures different struggles and depression in a way I haven't seen any other piece of media do - every character has a unique story, comedic charm, and relatability to them. Things do get quite dark in the last 2 seasons but it's so worth it if you're mentally prepared

The Sandman had to be my absolute favorite show of last year. It was such a faithful adaptation, and the casting was absolutely perfect. I'm so thankful it got picked up for s2; I was scared it was going to fall under Netflix's long list of "good shows that should have never been cancelled"

Big agree on Everything, Everywhere, All At Once! Michelle Yeoh was SUPERB there. Turning Red is so underrated, it was so lovely and heartwarming.

My favorite TV show of last year is Babylon Berlin. It’s a German Crime Drama that plays in 1920‘s Berlin and it‘s amazing! The story and acting is so good and it kept me so hooked that I binged all 4 seasons in like 2 weeks. You can watch it with English subtitles! 10/10

For anyone who hasnt checked it out yet, Andor is a refreshing, nuanced star wars adventure, leagues above anything else made in the past few years. It is a good story and film first, and a star wars story second.

You should definitely check out The Boys. It's exactly the opposite of your usual superhero show. It's a politician satire with insanely good villains at every season and, surprisingly, it doesn't get boring or repetitive.

Podcast: Ghosthoney's Dream Machine - very much your brand of weird. The sock goblin named Rose reminds me of you, respectfully. Online Content- Critical Role's Exandria Unlimited: Calamity. I get it, watching people play DnD is not for everyone. But this is a four part series about the end of the world. The world they create is so interesting. It is so beautifully told. I recommend it to everyone.

I’m not completely familiar with every Batman film that’s come to exist, but I still think I can confidently say that the most recent Batman reboot was one of the best- the set, costume design, cinematography, score, was just astounding.

i might give succession another shot ngl you sound very convincing haha for me i have watched bojack horseman this year and it really lives up to the hype, it's an incredible animated show that's very different from any other i've seen before! you might need to push through the first half of season one but it takes a really cool turn and that's all i'll say !

Oh man. I have an old, classic theater that features a ton of indie films. Aftersun was one of them (along with Tar). Not a dry eye in the house when the credits rolled. I loved Paul Mescal in Normal People (which also made me cry) so I knew Aftersun was going to be something special.

One of my all time favorite things I watched last year was The Sound Of Magic on Netflix. It's a Korean drama about a Latchkey kid, an unhinged but very lovable Magician, and a couple of other characters... Visuals are absolutely stunning, songs are well composed and touching, acting is on point, and honestly, it deals with a lot of themes that I don't think I could do justice to summarizing here. I also related a lot to the characters portrayed, and could compare them very much to myself and my own family, so it really got me there, as well. But seriously, I would reccomend it to anyone. It's stuck with me a lot and has a special place in my heart xx

i'm also very much a sci-fi fantasy type of gal but lemme tell you ted lasso has made me laugh harder than anything else i've ever seen. it didn't seem like anything i would like on the outside but the characters are so well written, the storyline is amazing, and it's just so goofy with some heart wrenching moments 10/10 would recommend

Season two comes out this year and I think you'll love it. It became my unexpected fav show of 2022. I also don't know if ya'll get Abbott Elementary over there but I would suggest that as well!

Series that came out in 2022 that I liked: The Sandman, All of Us Are Dead, High Water, Heartstopper, Our Flag Means Death, The Umbrella Academy - Season 3, Love, Death & Robots - Volume 3, and controversially The Resident Evil series (I never played the games!! I've only seen the movies and this new show so I didn't have any expectations and just enjoyed it without context!!!) Series that came out before 2022 that I watched last year and liked: The Chestnut Man, The Valhalla Murders, & I've started watching Deadwind which I like so far! Happiness, and Kingdom (this year I finally realised the Korean Zombie genre is an absolute winner for me). Reflecting made me realise I didn't really watch ANY movies in 2022...I've mostly spent the year reading books this time around

i definitely recommend alice in borderland! it's a japanese show about these people who find themselves in an alternate version of tokyo, where they have to partake in death games in order to survive, all while trying to figure out why and how they're there. it has lots of nods to alice in wonderland, and season two just came out a couple of weeks ago! if you liked squid game, then you'd definitely like this!

I somehow havent really watched that many movies or TV shows last year. I usually watch a lot of movies and go tothe cinema quite often. but last year I went maybe 2 or 3 times, also barley watched anything on Netflix or other platforms and also coldnt bring myself to invest in new shows. Might also have to do with the fact, that I discovered an bunch new content creators and mainly watched Twitch or YT or was just gaming. But also.... a bunch of shows I was interested in were on different streaming platforms like AppleTV and HBO and I didnt want to pay for yet another service just for 1 or 2 shows

HUNTERS!!! WATCH HUNTERS!! Season 2 is about to come out and I cannot begin to explain how GOOD this show is! It's a Hollywood story based off of the true fact that Nazi's were hired and brought to America after WW2 ended. The show is basically Jews hunting undercover Nazis, thriving in America in the 70s... so freakin good! Also AL Pacino is a lead actor in it!
