Right On John! 🙌 They do smell good 👍 Another guy was saying to add a little turpentine. That might make it smell like pine trees! 🌲

Right On Tony! 🙌 I saw on the news that there was some trouble at Allamuchy. Some gunman out in the woods but the cops got him.

Thanks Randy! It’s nice to get the fire going with ease! I’m sure you’ve got a big stash of wood split for the winter! 🪵🪵🪵

Thanks Jon, that worked great, I must have a go myself, we do collect pine cones for using in the fire and we always have butts of old candles lying around and normally compost the lint !

Right On Big Vic! 🙌 Got to stay warm here in the north! How cold does it get where you are Vic?

@RightOnJonCrane I'm in North Alabama... most time we average high 40s during this time... we got 4.5 inch of snow last week and right now it's 28 with a feel like 15.. so it's a little cool today... i had to put sleeves on 🙂

@ Wow Vic! That is pretty cold for your neck of the woods! Snow too! ❄️ Seems like most of the country is in a freezer at the moment. 🥶 I’m wrapping some pipes up today.

i mix saw dust with melted old candle wax , pack it into a paper condiment cup , produces a 10 inch flame to start my old west german Leda coal stove , that i tend to , 7 am and 7 pm

Jon, what about using the shaving coming off my wood planer, like to know your thoughts on that, thanks.
@RightOnJonCrane12 күн бұрын
Right On Matt! 🙌 I have used wood shavings from the shop too and they work great. I was drilling a bunch of holes with a forstner bit and mixed those shavings with sawdust from the table saw. The planer shavings I’m sure are great.

I never thought about making my own firestarters, but I am tired of spending $25 on a box of them from the store! Thanks for the great tips!

I do have friends and family in the area in California. The fires there are incredibly devastating and heartbreaking.

ALRIGHTY KIDDO!!!! I have thought about doing these AT LEAST 100 times BUT I always get the comment, "You CANNOT use wax because to causes build up in your chimney and will cause a chimney fire". I REALLY don't use my stove too much, KRIPES! I live in SC for GOD SACKS! And I REALLY don't think it will be an issue BUT that little voice is ALWAYS in the back of my mind!m WHAT SAY YOU YODA???

I think it’s all good 👍 I clean my chimney once every couple years. I send a brush down and I don’t get much buildup. I get some good hot fires going on occasion and it gets cleaned out. But there are lots of different stoves and some have catalytic converters in them. You’ve got to burn those hot. I don’t think there is much to worry about burning them in a fireplace or a well burning wood stove. Good to clean the chimney though and keep an eye on things. Every stove is different.
