Really nice set up, the only thing I don't like about the tubbies is that they restrict the area available to put your feet when sitting sideways. After recently researching jet ski's for fishing pretty heavily I agree that the Yamaha FXHO is the ducks guts of fishing jet skis. I just ordered the 2020 model and can't wait to get out there. Thanks for your videos.

Thanks Paul. Glad you like to watch the videos. By the way, another person asked me about room for feet just yesterday. It's never bothered me actually. If the old knees are getting twisted and aching, I just put my feet up on the edge of the Tubby if I am sitting sideways. Most of time I am moving around (if you've watch the videos you'll know I keep busy) and the feet space has never crossed my mind. But I guess it would bother some people.

My gauge says I've been averaging 2.6 kilometers to the litre and if accurate would mean 226Km with 10 left over for emergency with the standard 70lt plus the aux 27lt. Re: Sabiki: yeah, am aware that there are some that are one piece, some disconnect at the butt only and are a tight fit in the Tubbies, and there are some too long. The interior size of the Tubbies is just under 1.8M, and my rod folded is 1.270M. (8 foot is 2.4M). Bad luck about the school aged kids in terms of use of the ski! Hi Juan. Thanks for watching and commenting. I’d be putting the EPIRB on the outside definitely . Don’t store in hatch as I know someone who’s ski took on water offshore and became unstable and flipped. He couldn’t get to the EPIRB in the hatch for almost 2 hrs and when eventually rescued he had hyperthermia. I actually recommend a PLB (wearable EPIRB) and you keep this attached to your PFD. But an EPIRB in a place you can get to even if in the water is next best. Cheers and welcome to the sport!

Hi Beniver, they are just nylon (or you can use stainless steel) loops that they sell at chandlery stores. I used some self tapping stainless screws. Hi Paul, love watching your epic offshore sessions! Currently tossing up whether to purchase a FX HO or the SVHO. You stated 2.6km/L average for your HO, and obviously a supercharged ski would use more fuel, but I have read that cruising at around 35mph might not be that much different fuel consumption between the HO and the SVHO? As the ski would have to double as a family fun machine with the kids, I am leaning toward a SVHO. Any advice that you might have that might change my HO/SVHO thought process? Thanks and regards, Brett

Hi Paul Did you choose the fxho over a cruiser for the flat seat?
@Jetcast4 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s correct. My previous ski was a VX Limited and it had the touring seat with humps. I managed to split one the seat seams between the first and second “tier” in about 6 months of fishing. Yamaha replaced it under warranty but took a long time to get the replacement here. The FX Cruiser has a similar seat to the VX Limited. Seats and pull up cleats are about the only difference to the FXHO. Pull up cleats are quite cheap aftermarket if you miss them!

Are you running single or dual Battery your ski?
@Jetcast3 жыл бұрын
I have a dual battery setup with a selector switch and Voltage Sensor Relay to automatically charge the non-selected battery when the selected battery is fully charged. Some people don't like running these on skis due to the risk of the switches failing due to saltwater, but I've had it for 2 years and 360 engine hours on the water and so far so good. The inside of the Yamaha Waverunners is pretty dry compared to other brands I hear, and the battery system sits up off the bottom away so you need to have a serious drenching/dunking to get saltwater on it. The issue I have with one battery is that they can fail at the most inopportune -or dangerous -times. For instance, a local guy had a battery fail some 40ks offshore last year! So it started in the morning but failed later that day. I also use the electronics all day, so I want to be pretty sure the engine will start. Nothing is perfect and everything can still fail. The alternative is to have a gelcel sealed battery and a jumpstarter battery kit as backup I guess. And know how to use the jumpstarter.... I still carry one and have used it two times: once on a friends ski, and once on a boat that was stranded!
@Globalnomadsj3 жыл бұрын
