I installed a DD sapphire and the same Long Island Watch J-style bracelet on my SRPE55. In addition, I swapped out the exhibition caseback for a slim caseback from nomoki mods, which made it 1mm slimmer. The watch looks and fits great now. I also have regulated it to run at +1spd. Can't beat it.

It's definitely a solid watch for the price point. Sapphire as standard would have really sealed the deal but it's still really good.

Just bought one and looking forward to replacing the crystal, crown (both from Namoki) and bracelet. I disagree with you about the white day/date though - the white balances the marker at 9 quite nicely.

Thanks for the tips! I bought one of these while back and am gradually coming to grips with the shortfalls. The Seiko bracelet is awful... I'll mod it in due time: possibly with a lumed chapter ring, black date/date wheels (with lumed characters), a Seiko signed crown, sapphire crystal w/ day/date magnifier, and.... All said and done though, I love this watch!

This is a great review of this watch! When I got into mech. watches last year, I first got an SNK393 which was and is a an awesome first watch. That got me hooked and then I bought the SRPD55 5KX which I love as well. That watch is what got me hooked on that SKX dial layout and got me interested in this line. After researching it and waiting a bit I finally pulled the trigger on the SRPE51J1 (grey dial) and I really couldn’t be happier. Like you said the bracelet isn’t perfect but it really does do the trick if you’re not too picky. I’ll probably grab that same L.I. Jubilee eventually but I’m not in any rush. I Just can’t imagine a better watch for under $200 that can fill so many roles with such ease. Yours looks awesome with that domed crystal by the way 👌🏼

Great video! I got the grey dresskx on the LIW jubilee bracelet also, great bracelet for the money. One thing to note, I hear uncle seiko updated their jubilee bracelet with solid female endlinks and a milled push button clasp. But they also raised the price. Kinda wish LIW sold female endlinks for this bracelet
@watchinout88322 жыл бұрын
Thanks! At least they raised the quality. And yes I agree with you about the end links, although it doesn’t really bother me

This is a lot of watch for the money IMO. I recently spent 15x more for a Nomos and it is a nicer watch without a doubt but only about 2-3x nicer. Maybe 5x nicer under the macro lens. It's amazing how quickly the cost escalates with improvements on the finer details and a nicer more accurate movement. I plan on buying a NH36 with black day date wheels to mod the watch also. Not sure why its a surprise that warranty card is not signed. Gray market dealers NEVER sign the warranty card. If they did it wouldn't matter even if they did, since no manufacturer would honor a warranty from an unauthorized seller. PSA: if you want a discount and a valid manufacturer warranty, go with a trusted broker that works through ADs.

Anyway, the sad thing is that Seiko owns Orient. Orient is supposed to be positioned as their lower their brand. But for 200 bones, my Kamasu has a sapphire crystal, a signed crown and 200M water resistance. No comment on the bracelet, because I thew that in a box in favor of a NATO the day the Kamasu arrived so...I just don't know. Point is: Ya can't let your lower tier brand outshine your flagship, Seiko!

I love the bracelets from Mark and I’ve had a few. Agree with your comments. What I don’t agree with, is your assessment on the uncle seiko bracelet. They are amazing. Hard to make a recommendation when you have never had one in hand. You should do a challenge. Get all 3 bracelets in and do a side by side review. Then make a recommendation.

I'm definitely not a Seiko fanboy. For the money, and considering the benefits of scale they have, I'm not going to let them get away with skipping a sapphire crystal, an unsigned crown, a terrible bracelet with folded links, hollow endlinks and a pressed clasp. And don't forget the unmatched day-date wheel. If you want to fix those issues, the you're talking closer to a $400 watch.

Which one will better seiko srpe57k1 or seiko srpd63k1 plz suggest am little bit confuse in both bz both are beautiful
@watchinout88322 жыл бұрын
They are both pretty much the same Watch, but the SRPD is slightly larger and has a rotating bezel. They both have the same water resistance though and all the the other specs are the same. It just comes down to which one you like the style of better. I think the SRPE is more versatile than the SRPD because it can be dressy or sporty depending on the strap so that’s the one I prefer.. but the SRPD can be dressed up too. It really comes down to personal preference

“C’mon Seiko. Get it together, man….” Couldn’t have said it better myself. I want to believe. I really do. But with the aftermarket crystal you’re at about $250 for something PD or Cadisen or Steeldive could deliver for half the cost.

It wears like a 38mm in my opinion. The dial and lug to lug are small. The case is a bit chunky but these extra mm disapears once you put it on.

How did u add the sapphire crystal
@watchinout88322 жыл бұрын
You need to have specific tools to do it. But there are plenty of videos out there for replacing crystals. I have a video of a crystal swap on a Casio, but I didn’t make one for this watch. This Seiko has a crystal gasket which makes it a little more challenging. Good luck!

Most watches I buy come with blank warranty cards like that. I just print out the receipt, fold it into the box next to the card and forget about it. That'll solve the problem if you ever need to use the warranty. The card says how long the warranty lasts, while the receipt says when the warranty starts.

The San Martins are pretty much all going to be better than the seikos at this price point. Hell I'd venture to say the SM watches are pretty much better than the seikos up past $1k. It's just they aren't original designs. I took my SN017 into a rolex boutique and put it next to a Submariner 41mm. Tbe AD was baffled at the quality of the San Martin.

The drilled lugs are ugly, spoil the case profile. The push-pull crown is the other big mistake, I do not feel confident with a non-screw-in crown in the water.
@watchinout88322 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about the crown, but I do love the drilled lugs. I personally think they look good and they are very convenient considering how well this Watch looks on so many different straps. Thanks for the input though!
@japd78972 жыл бұрын
@@watchinout8832 Drill lugs are ugly, that is why the Rolex Explorer (example of the perfect case) or Omega, Patek or any brand with style do not use them. I change the straps of my watches like every month, What is the problem?, is particularly easy to change it when the straps have that easy changing system, or use a tool.

Both Rolex and Omega have used drilled lugs in the past. You should fact check before you go making statements like that. But if you don’t like it, don’t buy it! There are plenty of people who like watches like this, so who are you to say that “they’re ugly”?
