This was actually done incorrectly, as the foul was resulting in a red card ref should have stopped play and issued the 2nd yellow card.

@@gagebadger38 you’re nearly correct. The foul resulted in a caution, not a sending off, the sending off is a result of two yellows. The law specifies a sending off offence should stop play, this was not a sending off offence, but a caution-able one. So correct in law to allow an advantage.

@@gagebadger38 this is the wording in law; The referee may play advantage whenever an offence occurs but should consider the following in deciding whether to apply the advantage or stop play: • the severity of the offence - if the offence warrants a sending-off, the referee must stop play and send off the player unless there is a clear opportunity to score a goal • the position where the offence was committed - the closer to the opponent’s goal, the more effective the advantage can be • the chances of an immediate, promising attack • the atmosphere of the match So I guess in depends on your interpretation of the sending off offence part. Do you interpret it as, that’s a caution and therefore a sending off as he’s on a yellow or just a caution

But this time that combination of his talent and lack of footballing brain worked to perfection. He should have put player through 1 on 1. But having scored a pen, he wanted another. If he didn’t score, I’m sure he’d have got a bollocking for it. But he did score. But if he sorted his footballing brain out he could play at a much higher level. And that’s probably the only reason he doesn’t. Great goal though. And as I’ve said he is a game changing talent.
