Andy Sullivan's tip is one that I've heard before and that I've really tried to take to heart. I'll give you a perfect example. Today I was on hole 6 on my local course (yes my local course is open here in Minnesota and I'm so grateful) short-medium length par 4, and I hit the best drive I've ever hit on that hole. Dead center, perfectly balanced swing, baby fade, and landed 20 yards past the red stake, so had 80 left into the green. No hazards, step up with my sand wedge and skull it head-high 130 yards, well over the green, through the pines behind the green and laid up in a row of bushes probably 35ish yards long of the green with pine tree branches hanging waist-shoulderish high between me and the green. As soon as it came off the face of my sand wedge I said out loud to my playing partner in a laughing-it-off sort of tone. "Uh oh! Hahaha whoooaaaaa, whoops! Well, ya had to know that was coming sooner or later after a drive like that!" And so then I go up to the new location of my ball, grab a 6 iron to keep it low under the branches, and just give it really firm chip-stroke whack and it rolls and bounces under the trees, through the fringe, up onto the green 9 feet left and pin-high. Then I 2 putt knock it in for a 5. Not the end of the world. I saved a bogie. I'm not a tour pro, so it's fine. Bogies happen all the time. Heck if I bogied every hole I'd call it a semi-decent day. Moral of the story is I didn't let it get in my head, and I turned it into a bogie instead of a 7 or an 8. I just went to the ball and just gave it another whack best I could. That's the gist of golf anyway isn't it? Hit the ball, go find, it, hit it again! That tip is applicable to golf but also just everyday life in general. When you're sweating something that ultimately doesn't matter that much, take a deep breath and try and keep it all in perspective.

Last tip the best. My big miss is a hook with the driver. Some days I have it and some I don’t. I always try and correct it instead of aiming down the right. I know I should but the need to hit straight overpowers me! I will try this advice next time.

I watched a video of Moe Norman the other day, and he said “I let the golf club balance me.” 🤯 I took that thought to the course, and played some of the best golf I have ever played. It made me feel like my body was just the central pivot point for the club head to swing around. A good visualization is like when you swing a kid around you by their wrists so they fly in the air. If you let go, you would fall backward (and your wife would leave you 😂), so the force of the child’s weight pulling away from you is what keeps you in balance. I hope this helps somebody.
@reginaldinoenchillada35134 жыл бұрын
I like a lot of what moe has to say but 25 yrs ago I wanted to swing on one plane with all clubs (didnt work). now I realize it's one swing for driver, slightly different swing with long irons, very different swing with short irons, 4th tiny swing for a putt. I no longer want them all the same.

So many awsome tips. I would have to say my favourite is one I’ve heard before and it immediately took 3 strokes off my game. Its the last one. “Dont be training when you play golf, just play golf with the training youve got”. Aka know the difference between training and practicing, and when you’re playing golf. Fix the problems at the range or during a training/practice round. I tell myself that i am not allowed to do anything more than take mental notes during a round of play but they are put into a mental box for later l. right now just play golf.

Really useful drills re. the early release Piers. I've worked really hard over the last few years, improved my swing no end and slashed my handicap but, no matter how hard I try, I still struggle to create and maintain enough lag on a consistent basis as I often release the club a little early. It can make you look a right idiot as well as you can be totally striping it on any given day and then get one from nowhere that you catch a fat or thin. I'll be trying those drills in the garden!

@robertbogdan70584 жыл бұрын
My best tip was a putting tip. On the putting green take 3 balls on a level, straight putt. DON'T putt to a target just take your practise swing and hit 3 balls with it. For me that's about back to my little toe on my right foot and through. The balls will all travel to within a foot of each other. Pace off that distance. Do it a couple times if you like. Now you know that today your practise swing will travel say, 7 paces on that speed of green. You can then adjust the length of your putter swing on the course for distance, up/downhill, grain, break, wind, etc. My distance control has never been better. Try it.

Now I play by the you can only control the controllable. If I have a bad shot I dont possess a time machine to fix it so it becomes a so it happens what can I learn from it.
