OK, I finally succumbed to trying the mayo, salt and pepper and fresh squeezed garlic for my grilled cheese/jalapeno sammiches. First, I have been a "nothing but butter" guy for my 52 years on Earth. Second, my God why have I never tried the mayo mixture on grilled cheese?!?! I am freaking hooked on that flavor. So much more savory than bland butter. I’ve commented before asking if you could do a whole episode of knife skills, maybe an episode of knife skills & the proper way to keep them sharpened would be 🔥 and super helpful!
@SilvaDreams3 жыл бұрын
Well first of all that metal bar that might come with your knife set isn't a sharpener, it's purely to de-burr or keep the edge straight as when the knife begins to dull the edge is curling over and that will straighten it back into shape (for a bit) but as for the proper angle each knife will have a different angle so... You might want to just look up some proper knife sharpening tutorials from experts. I rather not write an entire book but you'll have to invest in a few sharpening stones as well, those cheap machines don't work and just eat your knifes.

Three criticisms: 1. Don't use vine tomatoes. They are commercially grown for color and size but not flavor. Heirlooms, Campari, Kumato, and if it is the season local cherry tomatoes would be better options. 2. A focaccia instead of a crusty bread. 3. Shred your own good cheese. Or use slices of good cheese. None of that pre-shredded crap. Okay, a fourth: thicken the soup. More tomato paste and let it simmer longer. I loved the bacon jam. I am actually gonna buy those ear buds because the ones I have alway fall out of my ears randomly. Love your channel.

SAM! The bacon grease discussion got me to thinking.... Have you ever made fried corn? My mom used to make it every now and again as a treat with dinner. Basically; fresh corn kernels off the cob; throw a tablespoon or 2 of bacon grease in a pan (depending on volume of corn you're frying) ; once heated up to medium-high heat, toss in the corn and fry it up until you get delicious golden brown spots all around. (Salt and pepper right at the end) You will not find a better unhealthy (but DELICIOUS!) veggie side dish anywhere.
