I’m a master plumber and journeyman gas fitter up here in Canada. I’ve been in the trade for over 30 years. For the last 11 years I’ve been employed by a big municipality as a plumbing and gas inspector and I must say that watching your videos Roger makes me proud to be a plumber. You are truly a professional keep up the good work.

very cool. reminds me of a video I saw of the "muffin monster", which was really just a giant paper shredder in sewer lines (usually prison ones cause god knows what goes down those toilets) and shreds everything up.

Great Video Roger, I was actually down at The Zoeller Manufacturing plant last month and seen these pumps in action for the first time. Excellent Pumps. Thanks for sharing.

That's cool! I'd love to take a tour there someday.

I worked in an industrial facility that had a huge waste system. I was introduced to a thing called the “muffin monster” because of this I think sewage grinders are the best thing ever

Liberty grinder pumps are really good. I’ve installed them multiple times with no issues

If you like Chinese made pumps I guess 🤷🏼♂️

Now throw handfuls of wipes in there idk what it is but I still see grinders burn out after 6 months if the wipes are constantly put in there

Cool video! We had Zoeller grinders at all the FOBs in Iraq. They were amazing pumps but the floats got stuck a lot.
@RogerWakefield4 ай бұрын
What did they get stuck with?
@shmelmafinga4 ай бұрын
@@RogerWakefield Some heavy grey/white foam. I never figured it out. I've never seen it before or since. At the time, it was low priority so we just forced a pump. The floats simply would not float! The grinder pumps blew my mind how good they were, but we were always fighting to control them.
@shmelmafinga4 ай бұрын
I guess I mean to say; the pumps were great. The factory float switches didn't work in this application.

That is interesting...

@@shmelmafinga The heavy grey/white foam is likely grease. Grease is a problem for any pump station regardless of type or manufacturer. It clings to floats, pressure switches and even transducers and keeps them from operating as they should. Grease can also coat the pump creating an insulating barrier that will lead to excessive heat and possibly premature failure. Best thing to do is educate the users or install grease traps if there is a kitchen or cafeteria. Usually a garden hose will clean them off and get them operational again.

I’m thinking about going through an plumbing apprenticeship program but if I were to move to a different state after I became a plumber would I have to restart the certification process
@JATINVT4 ай бұрын
It varies by state. Some states may recognize your license and issue you theirs, others may make you take their test. Your best bet would be to reach out to the state you’re considering moving to. Wish you best of luck if you decide to pursue plumbing! It has been very good to me.

Can you point me in the right direction? Our house is 900 ft from the road with steep uphills. What grinder pump would you recommend to push the waste into the city sewer system since they won’t let us install a septic tank?
@kylekageyama3 ай бұрын
Which pump model is being used in the tank?

I have a sewage ejector pump in a holding tank in my basement. Do you recommend any ways to maintain or keep the sewage holding tank clean, can I use those enzyme packets for septic tanks?
@RogerWakefieldАй бұрын
Are you having any problems with it now? If not, I wouldn't do anything different...
@kingmulahoo4925Ай бұрын
@ I just cleaned it out because there was sand washed in there from a pipe leak, but I was wondering if there’s anything that I should be doing for maintenance to keep the tank in optimal conditions

Your camera cut away when the rag was being grounded and didn't show the result. Why? It looked to me like the rag, or at least part of it remained there.

@kmatzoll3 ай бұрын
If the pump loses power in mid grind it will lock up a liberty pump. Zoeller’s is designed to pick up where it left off once power is restored to chew them jeans. I’ve seen it side by side comparison
@drainjunkies3 ай бұрын
@@kmatzoll I install zoller all the time the M2 67 sewage ejection pump I’ve had those things lock up quite a bit. I always unplug it and plug it back in, but most cases I have to pull the pump and take the plate off the bottom and clean out all the teeth. Not saying they are shit, but I have had plenty of issues which can go back to the customer. We’re putting the wrong shit in the line.
@ecsoccerworld4 ай бұрын
I get it. This was for demonstration purposes only. Keep in mind that the water in the tank more than likley would be pumped out before the grinder pump could finish. If it was a rag, feminine products, or anything latex, it could and has burned up the pumps. Thank you for the show. Now we can keep in mind that the blades go around and around very quickly.
@joshuadupuis92443 ай бұрын
I have been to the zoller plant. They did a demonstration where they turn off the pump during a grind to simulate just what your saying and it has plenty of torque at start up to finish what it started.
