The only problem I have with this song is that it’s not long enough! I don’t know if you read about the evolution of the song, but it was just supposed to be Chris singing. Ed had basically just arrived in Seattle to start working with PJ and they were in the same rehearsal or recording space. Ed heard Chris struggling with the lower notes and went over to him and just started singing them. Chris thought it was bold of Ed to do that, but he respected him for it and it ended up being just what the song needed. Ed has said this song will always hold a very special place in his heart because it was the first time his voice was ever recorded on a song.

Seeing the TOTD reunion at PJ20 and watching them play this together live was such an unreal experience. I'm pretty sure my soul left my body at one point.

I saw PJ20, but no TOTD in Vancouver BC. 😢

Favorite Grunge song from an old Hippie. I heard this on the Radio and had to go get it.. Great album.. Lol Your reaction to the ending and Chris's vocal was spine tingling that is my favorite part. I Love Chris's voice and I cried when I learned of his demise... Sohum you have good intuition..

I'm sure others can explain it better than I can. But I always thought it was about sitting at a table with the poor and not eating because you don't want to take from them.

Temple of the Dog was just Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron from Soundgarden + Eddie, Stone, Jeff, and Mike from Pearl Jam (however, Matt Cameron has actually played in Pearl Jam since 1998). Hunger Strike is a classic song.

Not the king of grunge songs, but was a great album with a tremendous meaning behind it.

Great reaction and analysis!! Do yourself a favor and listen to Say Hello To Heaven. It's probably the best song (in my opinion). Check it out, see what you think.
