Shorter form: cables have capacitance because, like a capacitor, there are two conductors separated by an insulator. With a long enough cable, there's enough capacitance to act as a low pass filter, cutting the highs. Same thing with a pedal board with a lot of pedals and patch cords. As Dylan said, that's why you might want to add a buffer somewhere. Hendrix's coiled cable contributed to his tone.

Worlds Best Cables on Amazon with their Mogami or Gotham GAC-1 Ultra Pro cables are amazing quality with similar specs at around half the price. I have had them for a few years and work exceptional.

Dylan, thanks for bringing up little talked about important cable info. "signal reflection occurs when a signal is transmitted along a transmission medium, such as a copper cable or an optical fiber. Some of the signal power may be reflected back to its origin rather than being carried all the way along the cable to the far end. This happens because imperfections in the cable cause impedance mismatches and non-linear changes in the cable characteristics. These abrupt changes in characteristics cause some of the transmitted signal to be reflected" There are a few pedals that allow you to adjust the input impedance the pickup sees. On single coils it can make a notable difference in tone.

Thank you for sharing these awesome cables! I might have to get one now. I'm not sure if I have the ear to hear the difference but I still like the idea of a well-made, durable cable. I do a lot of antics on stage and I need something that will stand up to that. Better tone is certainly a bonus.

German made Sommer Spirit XXL cables have some of, if not the best specs on the market - 15.8 pF per foot. 10 foot cables are just under $20 (seriously!) at a huge, widely known German music superstore. For specs and price, an absolute no-brainer. 😊

I bought one of their cables a while ago, and I use it at home. I got a first time buyer discount, so, it was less than $65. When the 10ft cable arrived, I A/B'd it with an old cable, and the sound with the new cable was noticeably brighter. If you have enough of to much treble as it is, save your $…but the one I bought did make a difference.
@ramencurry66726 ай бұрын
I think most people won’t hear a difference. However they are worth it if the build quality is good with a lifetime guarantee and it’s made in USA from a small mom and pop business. And they are a little less expensive than Mogami anyway.
@ScottfromBaltimore6 ай бұрын
@@ramencurry6672 Agree most listeners won't notice a difference. But the player will. I also agree it's not necessary. One guitar, an amp, and maybe a plastic pedal or two are enough to rock. I'm just saying it's a decent cable and actually sounds slightly brighter. Not that everybody needs it.

How do you feel about wireless systems? Minus the cons, strictly sound wise I mean. Congrats on the cable release, will have to get a pair now.
@TeensierPython6 ай бұрын
Wireless is fine. But now you are adding an Analogue to digital converter, compressing the audio (especially if Bluetooth) to send the signal, and then a DAC on the other side. Even a cheap cable is probably better than all those conversions.

As long as you don't use a cheap terrible cable, there is actually little difference. You're going to set your treble on the amp to what sounds best. Unless you're using a really long cable. My opinion, don't buy either super cheap or super expensive cables. Or, use a quality wireless.
