I was eying this shifter as soon as I learned about it but your first video's with it won me over. And as you said it does what a shifter does but I have a similar experience as you have. Before I bought this BDH shifter I had the Simagic DS-8X shifter which I think has slightly better build quality than the Fanatec one and although in general it is a decent shifter I often had misshifts when shifting up from 2nd to 3rd and ending up in 1st gear. And so far I did not have a single misshift with the BDH shifter. Nice things don't come cheap and if someone can spend their money comfortable on a shifter like this I would definitely recommend it.

Great to read this comment as I’m currently looking at upgrading from my Simagic DS-8X to the BDH. Did you find much difference in noise from the shifter going to the BDH from the DS-8X?
@JJCAMulders7 ай бұрын
@@nickylindon difficult to say. I had the tension of the Simagic turned up quite high to limit the misshifts (the lever centers beter on high tension so going from 2nd to 3rd had less misshifts with high tension) which also makes it a bit more noisy. I would say that the BDH doesn't make more noise, but in H pattern you hear sound from the entire movement while the simagic it is more the slotting into the end position that you hear the most. If that makes any sense :)

Just got the Simagic shifter today. I'm blown away by the P1000 pedals and Alpha Mini so I figured I'd complete the set and that 2nd to 3rd gear shift has me pissed! Can't remember when I missed any shifts with the Fanatec it replaced so I'm pretty cranky right now.
@JJCAMulders6 ай бұрын
@@shaun4298 For me it really helped to turn the tension of the Simagic shifter up. Shifting will take a bit more effort but the tighter spring will help the shift from 2nd to 3rd.

Looks like a lovely bit of kit. I particularly like the collar switch, that's a great design! I only have a sequential shifter as I think having two separate shifters in any one rig is ergonomically awkward so the idea of these higher end shifters that can convincingly do both h pattern and sequential is nice. But somewhat predictably, 900 pounds is a bit rich for my blood, so my simjacks sequential will have to do 😂 Great vid!

I loved the V1 but since went to a Bash Pro active shifter. Can you review the Bash Pro from MVH sometime? I'd love your comparison. I absolutely love my Bash Pro, but also loved the BDH H1, would love to see them compared as I'm still tempted to get this new version .

@codyrunsfast17 ай бұрын
@@frozezone22 looooooooove it. Makes hgpatter shifting so much more fun. You can change the gate delay too so for cars that have a slight delay before the gear engages can be replicated. I don't use that much but it's nice for when I miss a gear.

Absolutely great vid Dave! Honest question, which shifter, in your opinion, has the better, more authentic feeling for H-Pattern shifting between this one and the Pro--Sim Quaife? And if you had a Quaife would you sell it to get this one?

Any chance there is a way to attach with the same bolt/attachment pattern as the Fanatec? I love my Fanatec Seq shifter, but it misses shifts entirely too many times to trust in a race. Very frustrating, it wasn't cheap.
@Nick72c3 ай бұрын
Hi Dave - in your video the BDH appeared to be at least 2x louder than the Fanatec shifter (I’m not considering the addition clicks per movement just the overall volume / dB) - I’ve got to consider that I often race after the kids have gone to bed - would you agree that the BDH is significantly louder?

you said you failed to engage a gear if you didn't put the clutch in hard enough. is that a thing, you mean is it active? if you don't engage the clutch it doesn't shift? can you also blip it then? and it does that without any extra software?

Fanatec deserves to burn for their random number generators falsely sold as h-pattern shifters. The BDH looks absolutely top shelf, but way out of my price range. So over a year ago, I bought a Japanese made Frex. It's h-pattern only, but absolutely solid. Modelled on one of the old Porsche Mulsanne monsters, the short throw, mechanical feel and reliability makes it my recommendation for h-pattern tragics for whom that sweet looking BDH is just too costly.

A shifter does what a shifter does, but not without a clutch. Without a clutch a H-shifter can do very little to nothing at full throttle, and after half the video you do not mention the clutch once. After 7.38 you show your pedals, and you h-shift without the clutch, ok, does not look like it was sequential, so not worth my money. I have a Bashpro for the same price, and it needs a clutch to be pressed and released to do what a shifter does... same or even more passionate people if you ask me. It even changes from to sequential with the push of a small button and voice notification.
