I was in a writing class for shits and giggles back in college, and this girl wrote a really cringe “modern neo-noir murder mystery” set in SF where the female detective lead carried a glock. At one point, she went into great detail describing her lead drawing her pistol, racking the slide, thumbing the frame mounted safety, and thumb cocking the hammer. Then when we critiqued her work, she ran out of the room crying after the teacher said her dialog was anachronistic. Her lead’s love interest liked to say things like “m’lady”, and apparently her boyfriend talked to her like that, and the dude had dumped her a few days before we critiqued her chapter. That wasn’t even the worst thing I’d been forced to read in that class.

Really good points, my first 9mm purchase was a new M&P it felt amazing in my hand, i loved the aesthetics of the gun and it even felt solid at the range but it was really hollow and cheap feeling when I shot it.
@HighSpeedFudd7625 жыл бұрын
My biggest and only super valid reason for carrying a 45 is that I generally carry a small very compact pistol (MP shield, XDs, Glock 30 for example). With those guns you don’t really get a substantial capacity increase from .45acp to 9mm. But what you do get with the .45acp, if you carry the right ammo, is a subsonic round. This makes a massive difference in preserving my hearing in the likely case I have to use my weapon from a confined space such as inside a vehicle or in a building. Plus over penetration is also something that you don’t need to worry about in those crowded areas which you could possibly have to use your weapon. That being said in the winter I switch to carrying my P07. Winter clothing allows me to carry a larger handgun and 9mm gives me assurance that I can penetrate heavy clothes and still be effective. Of course situation always dictates. But yeah there’s my two cents.
@williamturner88525 жыл бұрын

“Cocked and locked” is also what we will call it when we are finally Mr and Mr Thumb ;) And to fuel on the caliber wars-in most recent caliber “stoppage” comparisons, calibers from 9mm to 357 mag all average out to 2.5something rounds for a “stoppage”. The difference in real world stats is in the hundredths of a round category. Unless you enter this debate with a personal bias, it’s incredibly difficult to argue against 9mm, especially since it is a round that is so readily available, affordable, and manageable by almost anyone, with numerous firearms and accessories to tailor it to nearly any need. But it’s the webs. So we gonna argue.

Its might be instructive to list loading pressure for modern cartridges. While there is a performance increase with a larger bore diameter the fact that a .45 ACP is loaded to a very low pressure. In fact a .45 Super is loaded to a lower pressure than many .40 or 9mm loads.

In a another video I think you alluded to not getting a Springfield XDS. I am very curious to hear your reasons. I owned two in the past and sold them only because I just don't like a grip safety. I have had many people argue that my reason shows that I lack training but while we can all get more training, I think I am fairly competent but in a high stress quick-draw situation I still believe that your ability to engage a grip safety could be compromised. Having an injured shooting hand could also affect you here. Please let me know your thoughts. Love your channel.
@bufordtjustice86302 жыл бұрын
Good question. I believe I heard Micah slide in a pretty low blow towards Xd owners in a video. As an XD owner I laughed in good spirits, while I cant remember exactly what he said it was implied something about feminine or limp wristed, still funny though. After a little research there are some understandable reasons. It originally was an extremely cheap Croatian service pistol before springfield bought it and slapped their name on it, and that unjustly doubled the price. Also just springfields attempt to capitalize on the original springfield armory is enough to irk a lot of people. Theres probably a lot more, but reviews that don't take the price or the overall brands reputation into account always seem to have a decent opinion of the gun. Mine works fine, accurate enough for me, feels good in the hand, and after 1000s of rounds has earned my trust. I dont put it on a pedestal but I'm not embarrassed by it.

All of those options are really good options for an every day carry. But I feel like there’s something that is missed in these videos. A first time buyer more often than not, not going to have that $1500 price limit. With that being said the first time gun buyer will more than likely have $500-$800 price range. And a very good firearm that is over looked in most of these videos are the Taurus g2c and g3c. Like the Glock they are polymer lowers with metal slides. But they make a good trainer or precursor to a Glock due to the frame mounted safety. I know a lot of people are going to say that Taurus is a bad gun and just like any company starting out they had some hick ups in the qc department but over the last few years the qc has greatly improved. Most gum owners are going to buy a Glock as their main carry weapon, so starting out I would encourage the g2c or g3c as a starter weapon bc it’s $350-$380 firearm that they can carry and get comfortable carrying a Glock type weapon but have that piece of mind of an external saftey until they are comfortable carrying without it and then can sell it to buy a glock. not to mention if they only have a $500-$800 limit, a $350-$380 dollar weapon leaves a good bit of room to at least buy a holster and a couple boxes of ammo to get to the range to practice and possibly decent carry ammo
