The best bang for your buck handling mod for your Golf R, Audi S3 or RS3 is installing a Whiteline rear swaybar. We bolted on a rear Whiteline adjustable swaybar with end links as the first stage of the Whiteline Grip Series Kit. It made a massive difference to how the car sits in corners. Now it feels nicely planted with limited body roll. Next step is the front swaybar to further balance the car with the adjustable stiffness of the Whiteline swaybars.
Get the complete Grip Kit here amzn.to/2Vo24Zr
Get the rear swaybar on its own on Amazon amzn.to/3AbvUyX
Use my code WL722 in the Whiteline checkout and get $20USD/$20AUD/£20GBP off their first purchase when you spend $150USD/$150AUD/£150GBP or more.

Hey Eddy, how do you like having the front and rear on there ? Contemplating the kit vs running rear only.

I drove the car for about 2 weeks with only the rear bar installed and it was nice but with the front bar installed the car felt more balanced. I felt like the front wasn’t twisting up on the inside corner in a turn like it used too. If I was to do it again I would use both bars again

Just bought one of these bars in the 22mm version. Will report how it goes on the stiff setting
@TheEddysGarage
@TheEddysGarage 5 жыл бұрын
JDDD33 I suggest that run it on “soft” (which is still a lot stiffer than stock) unless you have a front bar as well or you might get snap oversteer and find yourself going backwards into a hedge. Even with both bars on ours they are both on the softest setting.

@@TheEddysGarage thanks for the advice!! I just had it installed on the stiff setting, and boy is she stiff ! The ride quality (on uneven roads) has definitely dimished a little, The car does handle extreemely well at high speeds/fast cornering however. Agree, I think I will take it back to the shop to readjust to the soft setting (so some ride comfort is maintained)

@@JDDD33 How is it on the Soft setting now compared to stock and comapred to when you had it on the hard setting?
@JDDD33
@JDDD33 4 жыл бұрын
@@Scythesabre I have left it in the soft setting, as it makes the car feel more balanced (especially on turn-in to a corner). When it was on hard, mid-corners (and corner exit) were amazing, but overall I now prefer the soft setting as it makes the car feel more neutral for a daily driver. If going to the track, would be worth having it on hard.

Any reason for going whiteline as opposed to superpro or otherwise?

Not a mechanic so here is maybe a stupid question, but if you have a sway bar on already how is it a new sway bar superior? I doubt the car bends the original bar...
@TheEddysGarage
@TheEddysGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Swaybars are just springs and increasing spring rate affects how the car transfers weight and changes the handling. Read the article Rex on Rails which does a great job explaining how this, tire pressure and a few other things can change the handling of a front wheel based all wheel drive car like the S3

I think the end links are supposed to be facing the other side? like away from the spring
@TheEddysGarage

Debra Johnson the end link would hit the spring and be on a terrible angle

Hi there, is the end links necessary to upgrade with the sway bar or I can just do the sway bar only? Thanks
@TheEddysGarage
@TheEddysGarage 5 жыл бұрын
Having the adjustable links lets you easily set it up on hard or soft. If you use the standard links it will only reach the hard hole and we found it too stiff with just the rear.

Hey Eddy. Installed the same rear sway bar (stiff setting) with ECS's tuning end links. However, I am experiencing metal clunking sounds at low speed on rougher road surfaces. Do you have this problem?
@TheEddysGarage
@TheEddysGarage 4 жыл бұрын
minh pham no mine is silent. Make sure there is no contact when the car is on the ground. Something is hitting somewhere. Was there any play in your endlinks? Try the softer setting too.

@@TheEddysGarage I replaced the ECD's tuning adjustable end links with a pair of OE end links, and this solves the problem. As far as trying the softer setting on the sway bar. There's no way to reach the softer hole with the end links that I have.

Had the same issue with the white line end links and figured out it was the adjustment but was moving on the left rear on compression on low speeds too. Put a small amount of blue lock tight and seemed to help but then it came back after some spirited driving in the mountains. I pulled it all out in my so called rage but and looking to install solid end link mounds now from 034 or hard race.

Hi. I just installed this same setup on my S3 and I’m experiencing some knocking sound occasionally. Everything is super tight and both end links seem to be at the same height. What about the adjustment nut in the middle section of the end link? It’s kind of loose because even if I tighten it will get loose the moment I turn, even slightly, the top part of the end link. 🤔
@TheEddysGarage
@TheEddysGarage 3 жыл бұрын
You need to tighten the middle of end links to lock off the length
@RIAL29
@RIAL29 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheEddysGarage yes. But when your installing it will always turn a bit and that defeat the purpose by making the nut loose again. Would this be the reason for the knocking sound, do you think?
@TheEddysGarage
@TheEddysGarage 3 жыл бұрын
@@RIAL29 it shouldn’t come undone. Is it contacting anywhere?
@RIAL29
@RIAL29 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheEddysGarage nah. I mean nut will tighten the upper end but as soon as you turn this top part of the link, clockwise or anticlockwise (can’t remember not) it will become useless and it will not be tight to the top bit anymore. Did you put much of the supplied grease? BTW. I’ve contacted whiteline and they are going to send me a replacement end link set. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So you put both the spacers onto the same side to get it into the softest setting?

yes you just push it through to the other side.

Push what through sorry? I've only got a steel rod that just catches the spacers on either side so if i push it through the bush anymore it won't be inside the bush

Just checked with whiteline, they've sent the wrong ones. The rod going through the middle barely sticks out either side so if i push it all the way through there would be no rod inside the bush

Golf Arghh check out my favourite mods video kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJbag5KnoJyLotE. But in short, do it! 100% do it. The rear swaybar makes a huge difference in how the front end likes to push wide and understeer.

Toooo soft (at least on the S3), even with spherical joint end links and on stiff setting. I went 034, and that was too soft too. APR bar on full stiff is just about right (I wouldn't hate it if it was stiffer yet)
